Baggies star Dorrans cleans up

Graham Dorrans was the toast of Albion today after cleaning up in the fans’ end-of-season awards.

The Scotland international was named player of the year by the West Bromwich Albion Supporters’ Club last night at The Hawthorns.

And the 23-year-old walked away with eight different trophies after landing seven player-of-the-season awards from supporters club branches at home and abroad.

Dorrans said: “It’s great to be named player of the season because it has been a long, hard year. We set goals at the start of the season and it is great to have achieved them, and for me it’s great to have picked up this award.”

Dorrans, who arrived at The Hawthorns for just £150,000 from Livingston two years ago, has shone during the Baggies’ charge back to the Premier League following their relegation last summer.

He has struck 17 goals in all competitions this term including 12 in the Championship promotion campaign. And a stunning season also brought him his first two full caps for Scotland including a man-of-the-match display in a Hampden Park friendly win against the Czech Republic.

Dorrans said: “Getting promoted was great because that was the goal we set ourselves at the start of the season. It was great to play a part in that.”
