Guzan breaks ranks with angry attack

Villa back-up goalkeeper Brad Guzan has broken ranks with an angry attack over his Carling Cup final axing.
Now the American is hinting at a summer loan move in pursuit of more first team football, after the crushing disappointment of missing out at Wembley.
The 25-year-old is so highly-regarded by his country that he will make the World Cup squad, along with Everton’s number one Tim Howard and Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann.
But the Villa understudy had been given a run throughout the League Cup campaign, only for O’Neill to turn to Friedel when they reached the final against Manchester United.
Guzan said: “To make it to the final, and to then get benched and to lose the game was absolutely heartbreaking.
“After you help your team get to a final, it was devastating not to play. I have thought about playing more regularly. I know that I need to start playing.
“If, at the end of the season, the plans make sense for me to go out on loan then that is a possibility I will be open to.”
