Tamas and Reid keen to stay on
Thursday 25th March 2010, 10:00AM GMT.
Albion defender Gabriel Tamas has called on the club to make him a Baggie for keeps as midfielder Steven Reid expressed his desire to stay for next season.
Romania international Tamas is keen for talks to start on turning his loan from Auxerre into a permanent deal in the summer.
And on-loan Reid, who scored his first Albion goal against Coventry last night, would also be keen on joining once his Blackburn contract expires in June.
Albion have an £800,000 option to sign Tamas, who has produced a string of impressive displays to help the club to the brink of promotion.
The 26-year-old said: “I’m not settled yet because they haven’t bought me. I came to this club to play in the Premier League.
“I want to win promotion and win everything that is possible. But I have an agent. I am a professional player and I only speak on the pitch.
“I think they are going to speak because in a month we will finish the season and my contract, because I am only here for sixth months.
“I like this team, I like the staff, I like the club and everything. I want to stay, but that doesn’t depend on me.”
Tamas insisted his best is yet to come in Baggies colours.
He said: “I am enjoying it very much. I am happy all the time. I am getting used to this football but I don’t think I am at 100 per cent. I think all players need a year to settle.”
Reid has two games remaining of his initial month’s loan from Rovers but is already contemplating a longer stay.
The 29-year-old said: “Nothing has been mentioned yet but I would be delighted to stay. I am loving being part of it at the moment and I would be very keen to stay until the end of the season.
“With my contract up in the summer, it’s something that might be of interest after that.”
