Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Dorrans is savouring derby battles
Tuesday 23rd March 2010, 9:40AM GMT.
Albion midfielder Graham Dorrans hopes the derby clash with Coventry is a taste of the future as the Baggies bid to join their three near neighbours in the Premier League.
The Baggies take on the Sky Blues in their only home derby of the season tomorrow looking to move a step closer to promotion.
And boyhood Rangers fan Dorrans reveals memories of Old Firm clashes in his native Glasgow have fired him up for more local skirmishes.
Promotion could secure the Baggies six derbies next season if Wolves stay up, along with Villa and Birmingham.
He said: “If we can go up it would be nice to have four local teams all in the top division. It would certainly add some spice to the games. But we have to get up first.
“We do feel like we’ve been missing out. Personally, coming from Glasgow, the derbies are massive up there. You want to be involved in them, everyone wants to be involved in them, whether it’s the players or fans.
“Coventry is probably the nearest we’ve got to one. They are local to us so we know it’ll be a tough game – they want a play-off spot, we want automatic promotion, so it should be a good game.”
Albion are looking for a seventh successive league win on home soil against the 10th-place Sky Blues, who are seven points off the play-off places.
It would also be a fifth straight victory for the Baggies in the Championship, which is not lost on Dorrans.
He said: “We will need to work hard to prepare. We will go into it full of confidence. We’re on a good run at the moment at home and hopefully we can continue that.”
