Doyle pledges future to Wolves

Wolves striker Kevin Doyle has pledged his future to the club and has been promised signings will be coming into Molineux if they stay in the Premier League.

Boss Mick McCarthy believes the club’s £6.5million record signing will be sold if Wolves are relegated from the Premier League.

But Doyle has no plans to leave and has been told the squad will be strengthened in the summer – news which will dash the hopes of Villa, Everton and Sunderland among others.

He said: “As far as I understand, I will be here – there’s absolutely no reason why not. The manager has said to me and a good few of us that if we stay up this season, there will be a lot of strengthening and adding to the squad in the summer and that can only be a bonus.

“That’s what all the players want to hear – if we sign another striker in the summer, that’s competition for me and hopefully that will push me, Sylvan and the others on again and make us try that bit harder to try to stay in the team.

“The aim is to stay in the Premier League with the facilities we have and everything behind us to improve again and push on massively.”

IF Mccarthy played his players in there correct positions we would be in a much stronger position than we are now!!!
IF Mccarthy actually tried changing his tactics instead of being a stubbon fool we would be in a much stronger position than we are now !!!
On the other hand doyle has been superb for us this season even though he has limited service from our midfield you can still clearly see he is a cut above every single player we have at the club.

We must go 4-4-2 on sat and not go to draw the game with a 4-5-1 system that has simply failed in the last few games. we have six defenders on the pitch under Mccarthys systm and it simply is not working and we are also failing to score from this system.

For this Muppet Mccarthy to come out and say if we go down he will probably be sold is an absolut discrace, Lets be a little more positive because ur negative attitube will rube off onto your players and the fans.

This article says and means nothing. He is a quality striker but needs someone to take the goalscoring burden off him. Sylvan had an injury at the start of the season and has had a few chances that were sitters, missed and his confidence is shot! Iwelumo and the Hoff have also been injured and may not be up for it. Vokes was sent out on loan, is still learning and looks sharp but then last Saturday! Keogh also been injured but is not a prolific scorer. The player who would have made the difference – especially in the new formation – would have been Kites.
One thing I am fairly certain about is that he will be go if relegated. Saying that due to others run ins and current predicament, we should have just enough to do it!

Apart from the obvious response to “a lot of strengthening” that we heard this promise last summer, what I want to know is:
    1. who be be selecting these new players – the same person that selected last summer’s signings?
    2. who will be persuading these presumably higher class players to come – the same person who tried to persuade the January targets to come?

    • wolfhedd

      1. Hopefully the same person who bought the likes of, Blake, Doyle, Jarvis, Kightly, Foley, Zubar, Milijas and others.
      2. The Managaer of a club who will be more established next season and a much more enticing prospect for potential signings. The manager wasnt the problem in enticing players, it was the fact that were a club who are favorites to be relegated for a reason.

        1. We are talking about the Premiership now. The contributions of the players you name have been varied in the Prem. and what about the ones signed last summer who haven’t made the grade!
        2. I hope you are right but I am not sure that just escaping relegation one season will make us a “much more enticing prospect” the next.

        • Mick will save us

On his day Milijas could be a key player for us, he has gotten us some key goals this season, and hopefully will improve fittness wise.

Mick didnt buy those players when we were in the prem, and they were all astute signings. I think what hes trying to say is the manager has the ability to bring in some decent players as well as some bad transfers. After all, can you name a manager that hasnt mad a bad signing.

As for surviving, it will without a doubt make us a better proposition than the 3 newly promoted teams, which would hopefully help us, but it wont help us attract every player under the sun obviously.

Great to hear it from the lad himself that he wants to stay at Molineux but on the other hand I didn’t like MM saying that he will be sold in the summer also if Wolves stay up because there are clubs who would like him. By the way among the clubs mentioned there is no one from the Big 4.
Sunderland could be fighting for relegation next season and Everton are far from a trophy winning team.
First let Wolves try and keep their place in the Premiership and and we’ll see. Its true MM is promising to bring players in next summer and that’s also what he did last summer and people were happy that he brought in nine players.
But for one reason or another most of them were flops except for Doyle, Zubar, Hahnemann and Milijas while Surnam is one for the future and Maierhoffer, Castillo and Harford didn;t cut it in the big league although their chances were limited.
There is also Mancienne who after being a regular he is now a bit part of the team coming in only in the latter part of the match.
But I say keep the faith everybody, things will only get better. A win at Burnley will be a massive boost to all concerned. Remember Wolves history at Turf Moor is not that bad.

Doyle’s obviously a good lad, and I wouldn’t expect him to say anything else. But if we do go down, I hope the club don’t get involved in any undignified Fire-Selling; or conversely, in trying to deny the player a chance to pursue his career elsewhere, as he owes us nothing on the basis of his performances this season.
As it happens, I suspect the only other player who might attract serious attention would be Jarvis, and if he went, that might well be the only position the club would seek to find a replacement for.
Otherwise, I’d expect the spirit of caution/parsimony to prevail and the club to ‘go again’ with the existing squad. After all, the likes of Halford and Surman might well prove their worth in the Championship.

Greetings to you worshipers of the foot and ball. You all seem to criticise Mad Mick when he is on a losing streak and on the other hand when you winning your all on cloud 9.

Wake and smell the coffee and taste the sticky toffee! The Premiership is a festival of 38 games which all will contribute to the fate of wolves survival. Lets all support the Wolves in times of good and bad as we need to send positive vibes to the Wolves squad.

I think the fate of Wolves will depend on the last 4-5 games and if regulated the richer clubs will come in for the Wolve’s talent. As money talks we will have no say in which player wishes to stay or move on. Lets face it if someone offered £10-12 M for Doyle then I am afraid in this world of rich man/poor man we are the poor man.

Lets hope Mad Mick (we’ve made him mad with our unwarranted gossip)can kick the team into winning ways and we gain those golden points to sail away from the relagation boat to the Championship.

    Here we go again.

The club spent £18mn in one of the most incredibly tight pre seasons for years. Yes, there was a lot of “chaff”, but, as so many “happy clappers” have pointed out time and time and time again, the “wheat” wont come until you’re established.

So, come the January transfer window, the club ramp it up, and go after the established signings that we all want to see. Johnson and Keane being the bigger guns, along side Hunt (who I admit we may have spent too much effort on). What comes back from the fans ? “We would never have got Keane or Johnson, what were the club doing wasting their time” ? They cant win can they ?

And please, dont come on here saying Moxey was spinning a line about Keane and that it never happened. If he didn’t put the bid up then it would be impossible for him to put it out publicly that he did. If anyone at Spurs had come out and said “that bid never happened” then he would have looked like a total burke – and like him or loathe him, he isn’t that stupid. People suggesting this are living in a different world, in a galaxy far far away.

So, where are we ? Far from where we want to be, with a team that may just scrape 17th and survive. Yes, we all wanted better from the transfer windows, and yes, we’d all like to be a dam site more comfortable than we are, but it aint gonna happen over night. If we do stay up, we will undoubtedly be in a far stronger position to push on next year.

I will criticise Morgan for talking it up too much after last season. He said too much to soon and should have kept quiet, but I like the guy and think he’s got something about him. When he dumps us to buy Liverpool back, you can all come on here and rip me to bits and Ill hold my hands up.

Now I’ll sit back and wait for a torrent of abuse, followed by accusations of me not being a real fan.

    Good luck this weekend boys.

Who did Birmingham sign in January ?
They were after a host of prem quality strikers, had loads of money to throw at it – and they did try throwing it – yet they ended up with zilch.

Come to think of it, who did they sign pre season that was prem experienced quality ? Scott Dann certainly wasn’t prem experienced, and neither was Benitez. Carr was already there, as were McFadden and Bowyer.
