Edwards targets final five games
Wednesday 10th March 2010, 11:30AM GMT.
Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards today set himself the target of being available for the last five games of the survival race.
The Wales international returned to full training on Monday after three months out with an ankle injury.
But the 24-year-old insists he will not be rushing things after breaking down last month and admits returning any sooner than the old Staffordshire derby against Stoke on April 11 would be a bonus.
“There are 10 games left, and if I was ready for the last five that would be great – anything more would be a bonus,” said Edwards.
“I trained on Monday and I haven’t had any reaction to it. It feels really good at the moment.
“Hopefully it will be a good time for me to be available again because there are some important games and pressure games which would be great to be involved in.
“But I’m not getting ahead of myself and saying when I might be fully fit again because I went back into training last month and broke down after a couple of days.
“I’ve got to carry on doing my rehab work as well as training and hopefully there won’t be any more problems.
“If I get through this week and into next then I should be fine.”
Andy Keogh, who also had an ankle injury, returned straight to senior action but Edwards reckons he would benefit from playing in the reserves first, with next Wednesday’s second string game at Arsenal a possibility.
“If the gaffer wants me to get a reserve game at some stage, that will be good,” he said.
“I want to be playing as soon as possible but people will be putting the reins on me to hold me back.
“It’s totally up to the gaffer when I’ve got a chance of being involved.
“I’ve been doing a lot of fitness work during my rehab and was out with Tony Daley last week.
“Having done all the testing I haven’t actually lost much of my fitness.
“I’ve also lost a few pounds which helps.
“I’ve got to make sure I’m fully fit because there’s no point going out there at 50 per cent in the Premier League.
“You need to be 100 per cent every match and that’s my main aim.”

Well done dave hope it all goes well and we have you back for the final few games. I still think mick is leaving out our main man in midfield anyway in Nenad Milijas what a player!!!! We need to get rid of foley on the wing and get milijas on!!!!

Is he (Edwards) realistically going to make any positive difference to the outcome of our season? Mmm. I thought so.

I agree with launzwolves to a point.Milijas should be playing but needs to toughen up and not get knocked off the ball so easily and also stop pulling back from tackles if he thinks it may only be a 50/50 chance.Mick now says we may stay up on goal difference, what an inspiration the man is.Good luck against Burnley lads,1oo% concentration and commitment and we will be ok.Good to know Edwards is almost ready to return.

POSTED HERE NOT ABLE TO POST ELSWHERE
Mcarthy has said from day one that 17th position will do and he is doing his level best to finish there.Playing players out of position in order to create a blanket defence. This week it looks like Bolton, Wigan and Sunderland have opened up the gap to leave Wolves, Hull and Burnley to fight it out for the 17th spot. Mcarthy thinks that his master plan ( Negative Blanket ) will give us the key to survive on goal difference.QUOTE Well chaps if we don’t win on Saturday it’s not the end of the world it bloody well will be. For god sake get your head out the sand M M you are going to get what you deserve for your LACK of tactics and it will involve leaving your O to comfy chair. I think you have the players to make a better fist of it but it’s your pig headed manner that is there for all the loyal long suffering fans to see and endure. There are players who deserve a better deal from you and there are players who just have to be able to stand up to get picked it is obvious and has been all season. The frightening thing to me is 17th you stay 18th you go which is the worst of these two evils????????

Team for sat 4-3-3:
Hahnemman
Stearman
Craddock
Zubar
Mancienne
Guedioura
Milijas
Jones
Jarvis
Iwelumo
Doyle
We have to get our best players on the pitch! After a promising start, Henry is fading and offering nothing. Foley is not a right winger and I’m not sure he’s ready for the premiership even as a right back either.
I want to see an attacking Wolves as we need to score goals. If we lose on sat it’s highly unlikely we will stay up, especially if Burnley beat Stoke tonight. Teams are starting to pull away from us now.

Why doesn’t Kevin Doyle come out and say NO i wont leave if we go down, and say if we ALL stay together and try and get promotion again next season. Morgan dont need the money we’ve not debts ,so it can only be Doyle who wants to leave? like ive said before KD could be another ‘Henry Camara’ no loyalty in footballers anymore, plus if the unthinkable happens it will be his lack of goals that helps us go down, as he’s hardly set the PL alight as he’s only got 6 goals all season. Bully used to get that in a MONTH. Also i see WARD spouting his crap again why doesn’t he instead of talking to the E & S do extra training to learn where he’s supposed to be when marking his winger, or why not ask Derek ( Sqeak ) Parkin for some tips the best ‘Right footed’ Left back we ever had in my era anyway, Ward isn’t fit to lace his boots or even be mentioned in the same breath as sqeak great player

I think if we can put our strongest players on the pitch we can go to Burnley and win and this will send them down, we will then be 3 points above them with a game in hand and a better goal difference. I would go with:
Hahnemann
Zubar
Craddock
Berra
Mancienne
Milijas
Henry
Guedioura
Jarvis
Keogh
Doyle

Blake and Nugent have been gobbing off. The truth of the matter is that although Burnley play decent football they always concede!
I can see the merits of your team but MM will not go with it. What you could do however is this – Mancienne is not a left back, so you may as well put Foley there -
Hahnemann
Zubar Craddock Berra Foley
Jarvis Guedioura Jones
Milijas
Doyle
