Blake: We’re better than Wolves
Wednesday 10th March 2010, 1:30PM GMT.
Robbie Blake has kicked off the countdown to Saturday’s massive duel with Wolves by insisting the Clarets are the better team.
The 34-year-old striker, who is gearing up for tonight’s Turf Moor clash with Stoke, has been a thorn in Wolves’ side down the years.
Blake scored three goals in five games against them for Bradford, including one in a 3-2 win on the last day of the season 1998-99 season that sent the Bantams to the Premier League and kept Wolves out of the play-offs.
The Teesside-born forward has also netted three times against them for Burnley, while he has only been on the losing side twice in 10 home games to Wolves, who go to Turf Moor on Saturday.
And the former Nottingham Forest and Leeds striker, who also had a short spell with Birmingham, reckons the Clarets are a better bet than Wolves.
“This year everyone thinks Wolves have more of a chance of staying up than us because they were champions, although I believe we’re a better side,” he said.
