Bolton 1 Wolves 0

Wolves’ survival hopes suffered a dip when they were beaten by fellow strugglers Bolton in an end to end scrap.

Former Villa defender Zat Knight broke their hearts after scoring the Trotters’ first goal in over nine hours of league football, sliding home Chung Yong Lee’s cross in first-half stoppage time.

David Jones and Kevin Foley both hit the inside of the post in the second-half ,as Wolves tried to force their way back into the game.

There could have been penalties for both sides after the break, as Ronald Zubar’s handball went unpunished and Matt Jarvis had his heels clipped by Gretar Steinsson.

But Bolton could have snatched another on the break, when substitute Ivan Klasnic was inches away with two opportunist efforts.

A 73rd minute appearance of substitute Andy Keogh gave Wolves a welcome boost, after almost three months out injured.

The Republic of Ireland international was immediately into the action, booked for a late tackle on former Albion left back Paul Robinson. But Keogh couldn’t prevent Wolves slipping to their 15th defeat of the season.

It was an opportunity wasted for Mick McCarthy’s side on a day when all-but doomed Portsmouth beat Burnley, Wigan lost at Birmingham and Hull didn’t play.

Wolves controlled much of the first half, but it was Bolton who had the best chances and went in ahead. Johan Elmander was the main culprit, missing three good opportunities.

Bolton’s club record signing fired weakly at goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann in the 16th minute, after a fine move involving Stuart Holden and Kevin Davies.

Ten minutes later, Elmander forced Hahnemann into a much more spectacular save, the American at full stretch diving to his left to keep out a low first-time drive.

Four minutes later, Wolves were fortunate not to trail after a terrible mix-up between Jody Craddock and Christophe Berra.

The central defenders both went for a routine deep ball from Gretar Steinsson and Berra’s header fell for the unmarked Davies, whose effort was superbly smothered by Hahnemann before Craddock blocked Elmander’s follow-up near the line.

Seconds later at the other end, Matt Jarvis saw a volley tipped away at the near post by goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

A deep free kick by Holden then had Hahnemann scrambling to tip around the post on 32 minutes, although Fabrice Muamba later headed a David Jones corner off the line.

Bolton went for goal again just on the stroke of half-time, when Jack Wilshere’s drive was deflected away by Karl Henry.

But the home side got the goal they had been threatening within 30 seconds of the minute added on, when Knight scored their first in 550 minutes of Premier League football.

Wolves started the second-half poorly and replays showed Ronald Zubar got away with a handball from Davies’s pass.

Davies then should have done better than to curl straight at Hahnemann after being found unmarked by Muamba, who dispossessed Henry as Wolves wobbled.

But they hit back and went so close with Jones’s fine effort from a 25-yard curling free-kick, before Jarvis’s miss and penalty claim.

Foley also hit the woodwork on 71 with a superb volley arrowing towards the bottom corner.

But Wolves had to guard against counter attacks as substitute Ivan Klasnic was denied by Hahnemann when Davies put him through, Craddock completing the clearance.

Tried hard, unlucky with the Woodwork, but the bottom line is we lost again.
Schoolboy defending(how many times have we said that this season).Chung yong lee should never have been allowed to get that cross in.
Scoring is a major problem as we do not seem able to get the right balls in to Doyley.
Going to be a nervewracking few weeks ahead.

Did anyone commenting on here not think we were in for a struggle this year? Do you not remember last time? We are in the big league now which means quality players even at the wrong end of the table are on MASSIVE money compared to our pay structure? We are far better off than last time spending most of our time in the bottom 3 and ultimately going down. We this year have spent more time out of the bottom 3 and still have a great chance to survive? You can argue tactics all you like but MM got us here and he is the most successful manager since we lifted the CUP in 1980!? Challenge me? We have 5 more home games to really get behind the team and save all your anger for your “posts” later. The away support will look after itself as usual just like today. We will stay up if you moaning whingers get off everyones back!

Obviously a very staunch Fan,with strong feelings for MM.Problem is this site is for opinions. We have just LOST a very important game and a lot of fans are worried (Rightly so)that we are heading straight back to the fizzy pop league.
Fans get behind the team on match days then use this site to raise their concerns and or sing the praises dependant upon the result.
We will stay up if you moaning whingers get off everyones back!We might just stop up if MM realizes that we need to cut out the defensive errors,go back to basics and play players where they should play.
MM May have been the most successful manager we have had in years but unfortunately his record at Premiership level is woefully inadequate.

Let’s all face it, the whole season has now become an embarrassment to all concerned – players, management and worst of all, supporters. McCarthy’s only fuction now is to appear on TV after the match to bemoan his misfortune.

All the talk in the papers – not here to make up the numbers, bought the players to keep us in the Premiership, job done, getting better, Bolton is a must win – all hot air and pigswill.

Precious money wasted on non performers and second raters. An owner who doesn’t appear to have the will to dismiss the manager and his clipboard sidekick.

Right now I couldnt give a damn about performances. We have 11 games left to reach 38 points minimum – thats 17 more points. 1 win in 9 is relegation certainty. 4 losses from the last 5. It has just been consistently not good enough. This was a must win match and yet again they folded under the pressure and failed to deliver when it really mattered. And please dont mention the apparently good run in of fixtures at the end of the season. We have proved consistently to be unable to take points from these sorts of games. I’ll keep supporting but im not deluded we have more chance of going down then staying up.

Im not a happy clapper, but nor am i one for complaining at anything mick does, and while i think he has deserved much of the criticism he has recieved in january and early feb-i.e the lack of signings-not just his fault i know, but the 3 Ms seemed to waste their time, going after players we were never going to get. also, the foley at right midfield issue. Not one that can particuarly be solved at the moment, as there is noone to play on the right, but again, mick knew this in jan, and crucially, never even tried to sign a right mid! and finally, his poor player choices in jan to mid feb. ie, the 6 defenders playing. It was these issues that makes me agree with those criticising mick, but now we are playing a 4-5-1 with more attack minded midfielders, it is the best we can do! Jones, Guedeira or however its spelt and jarvis supporting doyle.

Very true Sir Lupi, as much as I really like guedioura, he didn’t play well yesterday, the manager was scared to lose and if you ask me, we got what we deserved from the game and didn’t deserve the luck bacause of our lack of purpose.

Unless doyle or jarvis sparked something then we never look like scoring, I think we miss that bit of quality that milijas gives us personally and feel that if we have one upfront, it’s important that we have two out-and-out wingers.

Looking at the bigger picture, this division was never gona be easy and we’re still out the relegation zone which we’ll take come the end of the season.

Would also like to point out the fans’ appreciation yesterday for Ronald Zubar and Marcus Hahnemann, who were the last players off the pitch, came over to applaud the fans, gave their shirts to the crowd and even apologised for the loss, it’s nice to know in this day that there are still players like them that appreciate the fans.

Didn’t see the game so can’t comment on the performance.
However, a defeat of this manner can only serve to highlight the fine margin for error we’re currently treading in deploying the 4-5-1 formation. At best, we can only expect to edge 1-0 wins with this system; concede a goal, and we just don’t appear to have the wherewithal/firepower to reverse a defecit.
McCarthy seemed to make some positive substitions bringing on 2 forwards when we were chasing the game; certainly, I think we must hope that Keogh gets up to speed quickly, as he definitely seems the most effective available link-up with Doyle.
If we’re beaten by United next week, I wonder whether thereafter a more gung-ho approach might be called for, in the remaining home games at least?

Once again a lack of ambition against a team who had not won in 10 games we insist on playing this ridiculous and negative formation. OK against a team like Chelsea I can understand, but against the teams we are fighting with to stay in this division it makes no sense at all. IF WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A GO LETS HAVE A PROPER GO. Play 442 or a more attacking formation. S Ward is NOT A LEFT BACK. FOLEY IS NOT A MIDFIELD PLAYER. JARVIS NEEDS TO BE MORE SELF CONFIDENT HAVE A REAL GO! HENRY IS SOLID BUT LACKS A KILLER PASS. DOYLE CAN NOT BE EXPECTED TO PLAY UP FRONT EVERY WEEK ON HIS OWN WITH VERY LITTLE SUPPORT.

Just got back from the game, gutted at the wretched feelings from a day out like that. Bolton were just like us, an extremely poor Premier league side. The only reason we were still in the match at the end was because of their lack of quality. Maybe next week the ball will hit the posts and go in, or we’ll eventually be given a penalty, if anyone can remember who is supposed to take them, but overall we do not have enough players on the pitch who can score or create a goal. And at some point Doyle will have a poor game, rendering us totally sterile. Sad.

There was real effort from most players but there is no real quality especially in the midfield. We reverted to too many high balls- a porr advert for the Premiership – and yet again Doyle was trying to win high balls with giants defending him.

It’s not so much ‘no quality signings in January’ as we are NOT using the signings we actually made apart from Doyle. Several major signings seem frozen out with what would be fringe players at other clubs taking centre stage. SEB seems to have hit the goal drought that ended Eastwood’s brief stint at the club and you have to wonder at times if it is a confidence ‘thing’ with Mick.

Does he buy the talent in and either not have the courage to try it, the knowledge to use it or the simple motivational skill to get it to work? Thank God Doyle got started and hit a good work rate. Otherwise he would be in the stands with the rest of the fans and the rest of the players bought in that cannot get a game.

Zubar and Hannamanamanaman played yesterday. Both were summer signings. That said, I am underwhelmed by the summer signings as a whole.

Nenad Milijas has the talent, seen flittingly, but doesn’t appear fit enough in the pace of the premiership. I don’t think he can cope with the intensity of the Mccarthy work ethic (defend from the front, track back, protect the back four). However, given our creative shortcomings, I would play him if we stick to a 451 formation.

Castillo didn’t impress me and I doubt he will play another game for us before leaving in the Summer.

The Hoff looks like a costly mistake at this stage but in his defence hasn;t had much opportunity. Premier league is clearly a massive leap in pace and quality. He wont replace Doyle in any 451 formation but might be a useful plan B, late in the game intervention like Mccarthy used in 2002 world cup with Niall Quinn.

Guedioura may prove to be another feather in Taff Evans’ Cap. Looks up to the pace and the level and looks to be a proper footballer.

Halford? What exactly is his position? I thought he was a right back or a right midfielder that plays “narrow”. Yesterday we played a right back on the right of midfield and a centre back at right back and Halford couldn’t even make the bench with seven subsitutes! Not a good addition.

Surman has hardly featured so it’s too early to say but again I’m not sure where he plays.

Geoffrey Mujangi Bia is raw and unpredictable. Another Cult hero in the making.

My biggest gripe about our transfer dealings since promotion is that we dont appear to have strengthened in areas where I felt we were weak.

We needed another left back imo as elokobi was recovering from injury, Friend was off out on loan, Ward was a question mark and its clear mick didnt rate Hill (never gave him much of a chance). Instead, we made a tentative enquiry about Nathaniel Clyne, a right back.

We needed extra competition for the wide midfield positions as both Kites and Jarvis have had injury problems in the past and I don’t think Keogh or Edwards are suited to it. Jerome Thomas opted to join Stripey’s novelty sandwell circus rather than join us in the premier league and the failure to get Hull to take our money for Stephen Hunt at christmas highlights our mistake in not getting some cover for the start of the season. Three wingers in the squad for two positions in the team. Six strikers in the squad and we play with one up front.

Under this system, I feel a 1-0 win is the best we can hope for; go behind in a game, and the whole format becomes redundant, other than as damage limitation.

Having been at the game today I have to say that we were unlucky not to get a least a point.

Bad defending just before half time cost us dear. Second half we were always chasing the game but we were very unlucking with two efforts hitting the inside of the posts.

If ever a game cried out for a fully fit Kightly, this was it.

Mick is deluded because we beat Spurs twice. A quarter of our points came from those games, which covers the cracks.

He thinks games like today don’t define a season as there are other points to play for. His comments prior to this game were defeatist and hardly inspiring.

How many times can we expect to beat a top six club? We shouldn’t be relying on those games. If we’d have beaten the teams in and around us, we’d be safe by now.

It’s our inability to do so that costs us. Our record against the bottom teams is awful. We bottle it every time.

The performance isn’t important if we can’t score/get a result. And we don’t look like doing either at the moment.

Pathetic yet again, the inconstency with this team is a joke and Mick’s to blame. A decent manager would have had us mid-table by now. At least Keogh’s back! Expect a hatful of goals then against Man Utd.

The result was inevitable and predictable.Where do we go from here.So little time to put the wrongs of the season right.Pick players in positions they are comfortable in,play a formation that is likely to score goals and maybe something may be salvaged. The present system has’t and is unlikely to produce the required results, but please us let go out playing like Wolves not lambs.

As for mad Mick As a sub today I would be insulted to be overlooked for Keogh.(nothing against Andy) but he was just not match fit and certainly not ready to influence the game when he came on. We were in the ascendency at the time and barmy McCarthy made a massive mistake by leaving a fitter player on the bench! Thats it Mad Mick say your Goodbyes and get out!!! Er (scratches head) at what point did we play well today? We were totally useless from back to front! Clueless! The type of football we churn out is laughable, bolton are a very poor side & thank god they are poor infront of goal because i counted around 4 very good clear cut chances to our zero!!! I suppose i cud call foleys aclear cut chance (just)!!

When was the lst time we won a league derby or a 6 pointer game? We always seem to bottle it!! Mcarthy is a joke! The team has the mentality to go out for a draw every game no matter who the opposition, but when we go one dwn he then thinks right now lets attack to get a goal ?????? U cant just ask a team to suddenly play attacking football ….. If it was as easy as … Defend !! …. Now attack!! Every one wud do it!

At the start of the season, if I were told we would be 4th from bottom with 11 games to go, well of course I would have taken it, I must admit though I wouldn’t thought that we would be out of the relegation zone at this stage on 24 points, two more than the Albion last season. They were on 22, or at least 22 points last weekend and sitting at the bottom.

Today’s performance wasn’t bad but again, when we are on top we don’t make the opposition pay for our amount of possession, we didn’t look like scoring and fair play to Bolton they took their chance but again the Bolton player had beaten his man too easily and the rest of the defenders were ball watching.

Then there is the creativity, despite hitting the bar twice in the second half I don’t think we created enough, did Doyle get a chance too score or put a shot away today? No I don’t think so and Mick’s substitutions made no or little impact, I feel Milijas is getting a raw deal, we needed his set-piece qualities on the pitch because Jones, apart from the free kick his other set-pieces weren’t good enough. Whatever you want to make of the current system even if were a 4-4-2 we haven’t produced good enough service for Doyle or any our strikers, the defence can’t hold out for 90 minutes in games and after Man Utd at home, the last four home games have got to be wins. Now can Wolves do that under the pressure of ‘got to win’? Bolton away was a ‘must not loose’ they failed and with only 10 goals at home this season, well hopefully it will go right down to the wire, however we need to pick up something from Burnley, can’t see us getting something from Aston Villa and West Ham.

But who knows? Who would thought we would do a double over Tottenham, but still not quite like beating Man Utd, still the only time in the premier league where we at the time under Dave Jones were the only team at the bottom beating the top team and Man Utd don’t have a great record at Molineux in the league, so why not just go for it from kick-off. If Edwards is fit please put him on the wing Mick, and for once drop Henry (yes he has been good this season but personally I think the team is carry him now, David Jones can do his job better) and with Keogh back, start the next game with the only effective strike partnership I have seen this season in Andy Keogh and Kevin Doyle.

Well that’s what I’ll do; move on to the next game.

    1. We survive by the luck of the Irish and we get another year of TV monies, wow… really heavy money!

    2. We are demoted and we get 2 years of parachute money. However, our team are being paid Championship money anyway, so all of that is profit.

Whatever happens, the owners and board will make mega millions of pounds, so why should the fans feel bad about that?

Mr Morgan did legally pay £10 to buy the Wolves after all, and that makes it his property and not the property of the customers who pay to come and watch his team play!

As for using what ever formation, 2-3-5 through to 4-5-1, the rules a simple, just score more goals than the oposition. In 1959-60, Wolves lost the league by one point , but entertained the crowds by scoring some 106 goals to 67 against. Burnley won the league that season.. The moral is if we cannot defend, let us get players who can score. Note the number of players that the top team pusg forward with quick intelligent passing and movement, which is the manager coaches job to develop, but can they?

Thanx to Pompey we are still above “the zone”. And that IS the way we WILL survive. Burnley and Hull still worse than us.
I still wonder – do we really want to ? Why would next season i PRL be anything else than this one ? Why would quality players suddenly want to come around here for another struggle – if we don’t wanna pay !?

Our defence is nervy at best we were fortunate on a number of occasions today and our defence especially continually back off when opposition players run at them.
This is a very disappointing result for us as it was a six pointer and Bolton were no better than us and when you are struggling in the Prem the luck seems to desert you.
The only bright light for us was Burnley and Wigan losing as well that gives us some hope but this 451 formation will need to change as Doyle whilst he gives his all needs another striker to work along side to ease his workload as more often than not he is our only option to goal.

Couldnt score if even if it was chelsea’s tempory keeper in goal.

It cant be all about confidence, you cant go from 30 goals a season too

None ! (other than a penalty)

    GET RID in my opinion.

Kightly ?? would of thought he’d broke both of his legs the time he’s spent “injured” this season.

Henry, just cos he’s a wolves fan dont make him good enuff to pull on a Wolves shirt. Has he played any through balls this season ?? NO.

Doyle – CLASS ACT ! enjoy him while he’s still here.

    Our signings

Milijas – too easy knocked off the ball, class for a total of 60 mins this season.

Mujangi – sack our scout for going by you tube video’s, even i could edit a video making me look like “the next Ronaldo”.

As for the others apart from Zubar and the other lad from belgium, arnt even good enuff for championship.

ALL IN ALL total waste of time us being in the premier this season as Morgan and Moxey wernt ever going to give the fans what the deserve after all the heart ache the past 20 years have bought….

Morgan quote “i think mid table is our aim”
Yeah forgot to mention in the fizzy pop part.

Moxey quote “we wont do an Albion”
Nope, we’ll spend less & score less.

Mccarthy “i’ll do it my way”
Play to draw, pack out our midfield with defenders, call us “nuggets”, play folk out of position, publicly come out biggin up every team we play, the list goes on and on.

Believe me, the fans will not put up with this much longer…. TOTAL LET DOWN !

Where has all of the money gone? Wasted on the Hoff, Castillo, Surman, Milias, Mancienne, Halford, Geoffrey – all crap!!

Mick wanted to sign 2 good wingers to back up Kightly and Jarvis – he failed.

There is no point playing a second striker when as we do not have one in form. I accept comments about lack of creativity but what about Milijas? Yes he is inconsistent but at least he can play a killer pass and his set piece delivery is good. Our corners were pathetic. Return Foley to right back which virtually everyone is calling for.
On another note l am gettin sick of us having possession on the half way line and then once put under any sort of pressure the ball is returned to Hannemann. He usually kicks badly and we end up losing the ball. Surely players can find space to receive a simple pass.
With this result 3 points at Burnley is almost essential for our survival. There are not many winnable games left!

Playing 4-5-1 is a good tactic against the better attacking teams of the premiership (ie spurs 6pts) but MM has got to play 4-4-2 against the teams around us. Bolton had not scored in 500 odd minutes, surprise surprise they score against wolves. When you look at the history of teams going down in the premiership they are teams that cannot score. We are the lowest scorers in the league. If he does not play these tactics then its grounds like scunthorpe and barnsley next year simple as that.

Whether we stay up or go down, surely then his position will come under review. With the exception of Fergie, few keep their jobs much beyond four or five years (if that). I don’t know why everyone is so surprised at how bad we are!
We basically have a manager who is out of his depth in the premiership and whose tactics are woefully inadequate!
We have a squad full of average/ poor players.
I’m sick of fans saying how good Henry has been this season. Is this the same Henry, like yesterday who goes missing in the crucial games and is meant to be our captain and who cant pass a ball except when he passes back to Hannehman!
We have a striker at left back who has been found out, a centre back at right back and a right back with no pace on the right wing. We effectively have two attacking outlets in Doyle and Jarvis and no one else!
I am also exasperated at the way McCarthy has treated both Milijas and Maeirhofer who should both be given a chance. They cant be any worse than Henry and Ebanks Blake!
We are basically a very poor team who look out of their depth in the premiership with a manager who is out of his depth along with a negative, unattractive style of football.
The frustrating thing is that this years premiership is poor and it looks increasingly likely we will be relegated when it could be a glorious chance to stay up! I personally feel McCarthy has to go even if we stay up as we will not move forward with him in charge. He may be a good Championship manager but he is not a good premiership manager.

At the start of the season, Mad Mick pointed out that Stoke were an example to follow. And was full of praise for Pullis (rightly so)

They narrowed there pitch, bought some big strong lads and shocked alot of premier teams.

Differnce with us Mick, is that our team was built on Width using old school wingers, you made that our strength then you narrow the pitch ???? Why ???

Its a fact we have played well this season away on bigger pitches.

But the biggest differnce to us narrowing our pitch and Stoke doing the same is…

Rory Delap !!! why Pullis did it in the first place, to take advantage of tha throw thats bought them 10 goals !! this season.

Yeah thats right Mick, they scored almost as meany goals off throwings than we have in all area’s of open play !!!

If the answer is no , then this would suit the team perfectly ; i.e.play as many players out of position as you can !!!Shorey would have been perfect . I feel so sorry for Doyle and wish him the best of luck with his new team next season,he has been brilliant and proves that MM can get things right sometimes – just not often enough. As a centre back , at least by now he should have sorted out the defence . Dont get me wrong, i feel hes been doing a good job, and could easily have scored a few goals, since hes been in the team, but his lack of attacking threat on the wing shows, and we very rarely trouble the oppositions left back.

Went to the match saturday and in parts Wolves played ok. Everyone clamouring about 4-4-2, MM would play it but we dont have the personnel to play such a formation. Clearly this team is not good enough hence to have that extra midfielder and scarificing another striker. Its how most teams do play in the premiership but the only thing is that the formation can quickly into an attacking 4-3-3, Therefore with AK, now fit again, he must be a choice to start instead of Foley who I thought did have a decent game but you can tell he isnt an attacking threat further up the pitch. So a top 3 of Jarvis, Doyle and AK, would be more of an attacking intent as Foley is much more defensive player by his natural make up.

Midfield on saturday did ok, the new alex rae had a quiet game and did have to go off to be fair as Wolves were chasing the game and in that formation you do need a holding player like Henry in there.

Defence, they were at 6′s and 7′s in the game. Not the best performance.

Wolves fans were immense, just wish we were just as passionate at home games because we really need the support!

Yes I totally agree with you Chris, Guedioura was too easily beaten for the cross which lead to the goal.

The more worrying thing for me though was this. Guedioura was the ONLY player who went over to try and stop their guy.
Surely it should have been one of our defenders with more experience at that sort of trick, do you agree?

One on one with a player who is not used to this league yet (Guediuora)would IMO only lead to exactly what happened. For me Guedioura was failed by our defenders, with FAR more experience than him at those situations. Surely at least one more player should have joined him to give him support.

Anyway the game has gone now but IF that situation should re-occur, I would hope a defender does go over next time. Or at least if not then 2 players and not just the one.

Agree. We looked more dangerous with the 4-5-1 than later on when we moved to a 442 in the latter part of the game. The postives came mostly from when we had a 4-3-3 attacking move like when Jarvis was brought down (penalty?) or Foley rattled the post. Doyler as target man holds the ball up extremely very well. This is when we have our best chances. The delivery Doyler is getting is poor and he does well to make something out of it. I would like Milijas to be given another go, combining with Guodiera the two could provide the forward creativity we have lacked.
Defensively, I get nervous when teams break quickly against us, particularly as it often finds our back central defence well out of position. Better strikers than that Swede Elmander would have punished us on Saturday. Lastly, if we do find ourselves behind and chasing the game then I think a big physical presence like Maierhoffer would be a better target than SEB who seems to struggle at this level.
      We shall stay up.
I think we shall get a surprise 3 points against one of the teams higher up, then 6 points against Burnley and Portsmouth away with the remaining 4 points coming from draws thus ending with 37 points and just enough to stay whilst Pompey, Burnley and Hull go down…Keep the gold flying high for we are not going down.

One or two comments of what is needed with out the back stabbing, we need to stick together and support the “team” this includes MM, alas I fear that is beyond some of the so called armchair “fans” who can only name call, when MM and clipboard keep us up – will we see the name callers on here saying they were wrong-I doubt it because their only call in life is to criticise losing a match/team selections/3Ms/ that THEY HAVE NOT BEEN TO!
Never mind the match is live on ESPN so you can at least watch a match for a change?

    We are Wolves……….

We need about three more quality players. Preferably who know how to put the ball in the net. It’s as simple as that. Up front by himself Doyle has done great. But it cant be left to him week in week out. We have to have other players we can rely on to put the ball in the net.

It really is as simple as that.. :-)

    Really frustrating Saturday afternoon.
We weren’t bad, but for a big game we certainly were no-where near our best.
Thought Guediora looked tired early on in the second half and was the right decision to take hime off. Personally, I’d have bought on Milijas for him – we were picking up free kicks in and around the box, and he could of played just in behind and up with Doyle.

Still, I thought Dave Jones was fantatstic, full of running and energy. I wish people would leave Henry alone – he was left with no option time and time again by those in front of him and often has no choice but to keep the ball by going backwards or sideways. Its a simplistic argument to call him negative.

We are two or three players short, it really is that close.

Lets pick ourselves up and go again, some big games coming up after Man-Ure and think the players owe us a 6 pointer or two.

Has MM not thought of signing the Serbian international left-back (Milijas must know him, surely) who was signed by Portsmouth when a free agent and who is now, once again, a free agent following their financial problems ?

If non of the bottom 4 teams take another point and by a miracle we stay up – will it still be considered a great achievement!!?????

I came away from the game saturday gutted we lost.

To be honest i thought the desire was there from the team for all to see.

I can’t fault the effort we just lack a cutting edge.

For me personaly i think zubar and ward don’t overlap enough.

Foley and Jarvis cut in field alot and we have no outlet on the wings once they do this.

My opinion on Saturday was to take zubar off the field and place foley right back. I still would of replaced the new kid as he looked tired, however i would have brought milijas on.

Henry was coping defensivley fine and another attacking midfielder would have maybe nicked us a point.

How many times do we end a bad sequence for teams. Portsmouth couldn’t win a one ticket raffle but they did us. Phillips probably won’t score again this season. Now ’9 hours without a goal’ Bolton turn us over.

I really try to be optimistic but we have a championship defence which will always concede at least one goal so to win we need two and how many times have we achieved that?

I’m not sure we deserve to stay up. Brum have shown the way – great defence and oozing ambition and premiership experience in key areas. We have made the same errors as in the Dave Jones era and we’re paying the price.

Oh well I got my ticket for Saturday and I guess it will be a Rooney day out for all. I hope we do well but lets face it, Man U don’t do charity.

I agree re the sequences totally.

      Its guranteed that

      1) A team who hasnt sored all season will thrash us

      2) A player who has never scored in his life will get a hatrick against us

      3) A troop of 13 year old chearleaders who decide to turn their talents to football and not won for three seasons would beat us

      4) Blind old Morris Dancers without a win for 35 years just after they took retirement at 65 would beat us!

Same old wolves and its every season and every cup run seamingly.

Does anyone know if Molinuex was built on a Native American Burial Ground and we have been cursed for evermore!

All we need to do is find a team to play that has scored more goals than any team in the Galaxy and an on a huge winning streak and who knows fate may give us a result!

Life being a Wolves Fan is never dull!

when you play 4-5-1 and pack the team with defensive players particularly in forward positions, you play not to lose, but what happens when you let one in as we did against bolton?
This is what MM was faced on Saturday and he failed to deal with it.
One nil for a side that cant score is a tough task but Apart from the two half chance shots outside the box which to be fair could have gone in on another day, did we create any real chances to score??
MM says he’s happy with his squad but doesnt play half of the players he has available. I now beleive that for us to stay up, it will be one or two fringe players who could make the difference.hoff, castillo, vokes, bia? I think against burnley and other crunch matches. He may have to play 4-4-2 with Doyle on the wings with Jarvis, and either SEB, Vokes, Hoff upfront.

when you see the portsmouth result, it makes you think, what a good manager Avram Grant is, after all his team and club have been through. It was close but I think they deserved it.They will go down fighting, not sure i can use the same word for us, maybe punchless

For Man Utd to really get behind the gold & green anti Glazer movement, I believe that they should let the guys in the gold shirts score first at Molineux :-)

I think we can grab something on Saturday, and who knows may be our luck is set for a turn and we can grab a win.

Anyway the last time we played them at Molineux in the Premiership we won :-)but more seriously even Burnley beat them at home this season, and at our last home game we nearly did over Chelsea so why not Man Utd?

Come on Wolves. We are staying up, say we are staying up! We’ll keep the gold flag flying high!
