Bolton ‘must-not-lose’ warns Henry
Monday 22nd February 2010, 12:00PM GMT.
Wolves captain Karl Henry has dubbed Saturday’s latest survival collision at Bolton as a ‘must-not-lose’ clash.
Mick McCarthy’s side remain a point clear of the drop zone with 12 games left despite the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea as Bolton, Hull, Burnley and Wigan also lost over the weekend.
Having beaten Bolton and Burnley at Molineux in December while remaining unbeaten against Hull over two games and with a victory over Wigan in their locker, Wolves have a healthy record over the sides around them.
Henry knows avoiding defeat at the Reebok is their main priority this weekend, as they bid to keep their noses in front of Owen Coyle’s third-bottom side.
The midfielder said: “Bolton will be a massive game, a six pointer as they say. I think it’s definitely a must-not-lose. It would be a great point for us there but we also want to go win the game.
“We’ve beaten teams higher up the league before so why not?”
Wolves have looked settled under the new 4-5-1 formation, recording one win, two draws and two defeats since the switch.
Henry believes the players are more comfortable playing the new way.
He said: “I think there’s been a definite improvement in our performances since we changed the formation and Kevin Doyle has been great up front. I’m enjoying the formation.
“I think we’re still creating chances, probably more so than when we were 4-4-2. A lot of teams play with three in the middle, Chelsea had four at times, and it can be tough to combat.
“We’ve been doing OK, we got a great result against Tottenham and it’s just a shame we couldn’t follow up against Chelsea. The formation we’ve got suits us now, we know how the gaffer wants us to play.
“You don’t want to be marauding forward and too gung-ho, especially away from home. That’s something we might have been guilty of earlier in the season, attacking teams too much and getting picked off.
“We seem to have combated that but even then, it doesn’t guarantee results.”

A win at Bolton would be great. It’ll be fascinating to see what happends. I thought Wolves unlucky at the weekend, what pleased me was how well we competed. I think we all remember the fixture when we play them in our last spell in the Premier League when we shipped five.
Results around us went our way. Burnley and Hull look weaker than us. We have to stay in the Prem! Good luck lads!
Well to fair i think we can beat bolton play like we did when chelsea came we will beat them! Wolves forever!
Its no shame to get beat 2-0 to Chelsea, but we were as good as them on Saturday,as MICK said we let them off the hook.We are standing off teams, giving them too much room, and your problem Karl is,instead of playing the ball foreward, you take the easy way out, sideways or back, have some confidence in yourself,be a leader, try some Beckham passes,,as I said you were as good as them on Saturday, but when you were attacking them, not sitting back and letting them come at you..
We didn’t score, so we lost. We have the joint worst goal scoring record in the Premiership.
That is why we are doomed unless we can find a way to start scoring goals.
Our spirit kept it down to 2 goals, and the team deserve our praise for that.
Norway, if you were at the game you would have seen it differently.

Henry has shown he suits the Prem very well. What a great signing by Mick. Breaks up play and keeps posession – a calming influence.
Love being led by a local lad too.
Yes, Chris, you’re right about Henry. He’s good at that holding role but don’t expect him to supply a defence-splitting pass or hammer a great goal from the edge of the box. Let’s hope the new boy does that job!
I agree i think henry is proving to be a good premier player.Henry VS Doyler for player of the season in my opinion….But i think Doyler will pip him

NO CONTEST THE GROUNDSMAN WOULD BEAT HENRY FOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR!!!

Henry as player of the year? What about Ward?
And also that bloke who cost us £2m+ only to find out he can only throw the ball in?!!!!!! He looks less a footballer than our cat. If you think Henry could win player of the season the £2m+ long throw bloke must have a chance!!!!!
99.99% of those passes were backwards or sideways. Henry, player of the year….Your’e ‘avin a larf !!
what are you lot on about, henry has been one of our best players this season, he ndoes play the bal;l side to side alot but look at it truthfully, he breaks up play , calms the team down and does his job to a really good standard, doyle aswell, so pleas shut up slagging henry off you chat rubbish :)
Matt, I talk no more rubbish than you do my friend and I certainly won’t shut up just because you tell me to !! Henry certainly breaks the play up. Unfortunately it’s usually our play when we’re going forward with his never ending negative play !! How does he calm the team down ? I don’t think I’ve ever seen him play any sort of Captains role – organising the side, geeing them up etc etc. Our new lad Guedioura has shown more steel and direction than Henry.
Good call.
I remember a particularly strong England team where Ince did the dirty work and gave it to Gazza to do the clever stuff.
If Henry can sit there, win it, be available for a pass to keep possession and then let the new lad do the tricks, that’ll suit me fine!
TOO SLOW AND GETS CAUGHT IN POSSESSION TOO MUCH
Report abuse
Good comment!
And to the long ball morons who have commented below:-
1. The other team can’t score when we have the ball;
2. The reason the ball goes backwards and sideways is to draw opposition players out of position. Try learning some football basics;
3. Out winner against Spurs was the end of an 18 pass move in which Henry played at lease 3 square balls so it works.
I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of you long ball prats. Hoof it up to Doyle and then moan when it comes straight back an we’re under pressure. Learn some basics!
At last, someone who understands the game.
It is all about keeping the ball. We play this a lot.
Whilst we have the ball, they do not. Simple tactic and great when trying to take the sting out the game.
You will find that teams in the prem all tend to do this. A lot of sideways waiting balls, not designed for any other reasoon than to give players a bit of time, and set the team for a spell of pressure. Henry is superb at this.
Golden Blood… lots of teams in the Prem do play side to side at times but they have a little more in the way of class players to be able to do it. Henry plays too many backward passes which puts us on the back fut too much. Look at Guedioura. He wins the ball and looks to go forward – not sideways or backwards. If he does go sideways he more often than not then runs on in to space to take a forward pass to keep the momentum going that way. How often have you seen Henry do that ? I’m not saying Henry is Cr#p or anything like that. I’m just saying I think it’s farcical considering him for our man of the season – especially after what Doyley does every game.
Here here
Best post on this site, this season.
But I do think you’re wasting your breath
Karl Henry has been superb all season, without doubt!!!
Never hides & always wants the ball.
Half the canaries on here, don’t understand what is happening if the ball doesn’t move forward, they get confused…….bless them!!!
Mentioning no names erm filtonwolf……….maybe Yeovil could be an option you certainly have the lower league mentality!!!
Cheers Grace !! and I always thought you were one of the sensible posters on here ! Oh well just goes to show doesn’t it. I have no objections to the ball going sideways or occasionally backwards if it has to. What annoys me is that Henry’s first thought is always backwards. I said in an earlier post I do not consider him cr#p but calling him our player of the season is just plain ridiculous.
Sorry Filton
Don’t mean to hack you off either but I wouldn’t expect coments like that from you.
Thought you were one of the posters on here that understands what you watch.
Didn’t have you down as one of the sheep
Report abuse
Grace… I am not one of the sheep. I always speak from the heart – I love this club. Over the years (and there’s been a lot of them !!) I’ve seen many, many good midfielders and captains at this club. Henry isn’t one of them……yet. I’m not saying he won’t get there but he has a way to go. I’m never aware of him really driving his team forward ala Incey – barking his orders and praising / geeing up when needed. His game most of the time is too negative. A lot of the time he seems to slow the game down at the wrong time. Instead of laying the ball off and keeping a move going, he seems to want that extra touch and in the Prem that extra toch can lose you the advantage. I don’t want to see the long ball game and your suggestion that I go watch Yeovil was harsh !! We play some fabulous football and our new lad Guedioura is proof of that but we are missing that vital thrust at the critical time and the chance goes. We have to be more clinical.
MY humble opinion only not that of the flock!!
Nothing like stating the obvious, of course we shouldn’t lose. With Blackburn and West Ham starting to pull away to mid table safety the relegation battle is becoming a little clearer. It looks like it’s three from Wolves, Bolton, Wigan, Burnley, Hull and Portsmouth (possibly Sunderland).
Also Karl, the 4-5-1 isn’t a formation that is preferred but rather forced upon us due to the fact we don’t have a second premiership striker or a quality central midfielder that can control the game. As we saw on Saturday we lack quality so we try to offset that with quantity (flood the midfield, hence the 4-5-1 formation). Chelsea were missing 6 first team regulars, never got out of second gear, had 2 chances and scored from both.
I admit you can’t fault the effort or determination of our players but at times it has been boys against men.
It hasn’t been a pretty season so far and it’s going to get a lot uglier; but as MM said at the beginning, 17th at the end of the season would be considered a successful campaign. So roll on May and a second season in the PL, then we’ll see how committed the 3 M’s truly are!
Totally agree with all you’ve said, we’re playing better now which is down to the squad having a bit more experience & belief at this level…
Plus lets not forget we’ve got 3 first team players out who have been missed in Keogh, Edwards & Kightly…
Must beat Bolton on Sat, then a repeat of the last time we faced Utd at home in the league would be great with Doyle doing what Miller did!!
Also hope that Seb can kick on next season as still think he’s got huge potential, just can’t put my finger on why he’s struggled so much this season…

I agree with most points. Chelsea played well within themselves and only had to do what they did to win. They have bigger fish to fry this week in the Champions league.
A good effort by us though, when all said and done going to the Bolton’s and Burnley’s of this world will not shake the opposition as we are NOT SCORING GOALS.
You may remember our old Manager Dave Jones saying (and it’s true) GOALS CHANGE MATCHES.
We can run around any pitch for 90 plus minutes but if we xcan’t scor goals or keep a clean sheet we all know hat the end result is. I think you are right – a top quality centre midfielder who can influence the game would allow us to score more goals.

Wonder if Chelsea will brought to task with rule 20 & 13b for fielding a weakend side against Wolves….course not…smacks of hypocrosy as always

The 3m’s xhould be committed!
We will draw at Bolton
Win against Man Utd [again]
We will win at Burnley
We will draw against Villa and West Ham
Win against Everton
And get our 3 points back when Portsmouth gown under.
Then we can play the reserves pay the £25K and send the first team on holiday.
Job done, give Super Mick the freedom of Wolverhampton and order the open top bus.

Arriving at the business end of the season now and the game at Bolton is the first of many pressurised games to come. The closer we get to the end of the season the more it will come to be about character and nerve more than just being good enough. I think we are better than Pompey, Burnley and Hull and on a par at least with Bolton and Wigan and maybe Sunderland too. Lets hope we do enough in the last 12 games.
definately a must not lose at bolton…having said that…they have not scored in over 500 mins now and no wins in 6 so i think owen coyle will be saying the same.. i think this has 0-0 written all over it, but hopefully with super kev up top and jarvo’s pace we may nick it. back to the chelsea game…..i love the fact ward gives everything in his locker to the cause for my club evey week, but again he was in a world of his own for the first goal by drogba at the back post… but still a good effort by the boys and on another day we may have well snatched a draw with the decent chances we had. he ent a bad keeper that cech bloke!! Led by a local lad on the pitch and the greatest manager we have had for 30 years and we are lookiing good for consolidation.
I for on love the 451 formation. We seem a hell of a lot more solid and we still seem to be creating chances, admitedly everything is coming down the left. Bring Keogh back and I think we will begin to see a bit of quality down ourproblem right side. I would keep Zubes in as I think he has played well, Foley will have to be dropped.
Judging by the vast majority of vocal fans on Saturday we are back to supporting the boys and appreciating the endeavour they are giving for the famous gold and black. So I think the Mick bashers are going back in there hole.
I am clearly aware that some fans will never support Mick as they do not like him as aperson. I could not care what he is like as a person as long as he is succesful at Wolves. So far so good. And all the anti hype is completly unfounded.
Wait for it, here comes the “Mick never did it at Sunderland” little number. I do not care what he did at SUnderland all I am bothered about is how Mick has got us promoted as champions and is so far making a good fist of staying in this league.
“the Mick bashers are going back in there hole”
Yes, because the trauma OF COMPLETE FAILURE in the transfer is subsiding and Mick has started playing our squad to its strengths by Dropping SEB and moving the emphasis to our Midifield.. where we have a number of decent players.
We were at sixes and sevens a month ago… and in such situations we most certainly must grumble.
if you want mindless drones supporting your club then pop down the road to Tescos. I want the best for the Wolves, if I dont think that is happenning I will bloody well voice my concerns.
We are, however, performing fantastically at the moment, hence very little moaning – the connection isnt hard to get.
Can you please clarify what you classify as performing fantastically. Two wins since 20th December (1 vs Tranmere) when we have played Wigan, Birmingham, Palace (twice) , hull and a very poor liverpool team. We dont have ANY tatics other than bang it up to doyle and hope he can beat the entire back line.
The bottom half of this league is dross and we still struggle. Stay up or go down Mick should still go.
Is it not in the slightest way possible that you could aggree that Mick is the best manager we have had for 30 years. And if not, who on earth would you say is better.
You may want to moan and groan about team selection and you may well feel you have a right.
My question to you is, what possible good will come from it?
There is one man and one man only who can make a difference to this club. ANd guess what, it is not you. Your opinion is shallow and holds no water, just like a belly button.
My advice would be to “support” the team which as your role would define, you are a supporter.
Dictionary definition of supporter:
–noun
1.a person or thing that supports.
2.an adherent, follower, backer, or advocate.
It does not say, slag off the manager or use your opinions over theres. It says SUPPORT there actions.
The facts are we have the best manager for 30 years at the Mol at the moment. And if the complete tools keep slagging off this great manager of ours then we will end up losing him. Do you really want that? Really?
If we get rid of McCarthy it would be suicide.
Now, in terms of opinion, I have my opinions on team selection and I bet they are different to yours, that is why I do not bother putting my opinion on here. There is one man who picks the team. And you, me or anybody else for that matter, can’t make a jot of difference.
Greatleaders are able to offer support and lead people in equal measure. Maybe you could learn from this.
No manager ever won anything by listening to everybodies opinion. You just go with what you think is correct.
Thankfully our manager does this, whther it gets up your nose or not.
I agree we should have doen better in the transfer window, but guess what, so do the club. What can we do about it. Moan I suppose. As I said, no good will come from it,.
The word “great” is reserved for people such as Churchill and Brunel, but certainly not for Mick! Say he is the “best” manager in the last 30 years and I would still argue the point!
The 451 formation is the only way we can plug most of our weaknesses, and it is an ugly way of swamping mid-field.
Mick has started to do some sensible things, instead of amazing us with his stupidity, so the fans have got of his back a bit.
In the end, if we can’t start scoring we are not going to stay up… it is as simple as that.
As I said, Norway, Who is better?
What is it that Mick has done recently that you class as sensible.
We have had this formation since the Liverpool game, and some fans are slagging that off.
As I said, he does it his way. And thank god for that.
Golden Blood are you living in a dream world if so wake up m8 like most of us know mad mick doing it his way will get us relegated for instance foley is not a right winger he has’nt got the pace or the know how to play there,oh and by the way graham turner was a better manager he got us as far as div2 which is now the championship he saved us with the players he signed and i know he couldnt take the final step and mad mick did but he is out of his depth in the prem he hasnt got a clue no matter what happens this season get rid of him,,,WE ARE WOLVES,,,in mad mick we dont trust,,,ilk
Report abuse
Even Turner could noy get us to the prem. Agreed another Wolves great, however he is not Mick Mccarthy.
Now I accept that people are infuriated because he stands by what he thinks is right. Foley, I think he is our best option on the right at this time. Halford is useless, Kites, Keogh, Edwards are all injured, Surman and Milijas are not wingers and are poor in my eyes. Milijas is good in the centre.
Now, if my opinion on team selection differs to yours, then which fans are saying Mick is useless? Correct, it is just personal and nothing to do with his record.
MM will be judged at the end of the season pure and simple. If he keeps us up ,with the tools at his disposal(ie a team of championship players ex Doyle)he will have done a fantastic job. However is that really all we are asking for as fans? Surrender At Man U ,no goals being scored, no premiership quality players being purchased,no young players coming through, not selling out for local derbies, etc etc.It would be a pity if Mick got the sack if we went down because I dont think he is totally to blame.
Norway, Cullis, he was great wasn’t he? And this bloke Brunel who did he play for, was it Bristol City? You are spot on though we are likely to run out of goals.

Greatest manager in the last 30 years.GRAHAM TURNER.
Quality signings,Bull,Mutch,Dennison,Tommo,etc.
Played good attacking football, players where they should play and totally turned around the fortune of the club.
As with MM(IMO)Unfortunately he found the highest level a step to far.
Mick has 12 games to prove himself in probably the weakest Premiership for many a year.Failure would be a travesty for the fantastic supporters of WWFC.
Graham Turner, although I am grateful fror his contribution. He still never made it into the big league. And he had investment.
He then went onto manager who exactly.
Mick has got us into the Premier league, and I am confident he will keep us there.
Mick is the best/ grreatest manager we have had for 30 years. Unfortuanlty this kind of thing is not viewed as accurate until they are gone.
I remember fans standing outside the Waterloo stand chanting for Turner to go. Short memories.
Golden Blood,you contradict yourself.
Halford is useless, Surman and Milijas are not wingers and are poor in my eyes.MM Brought these players to Wolves,he spent 17 million on players most of whom were no better than what we already had and cannot get a game.
Graham Turner had little money and had to shop in the basement market,But brought wisely.
Yes MM has got us to where we are now.If however he fails to sustain it then sorry but not the best in 30 years at all.

I for one am proud of Wolves and the way we played. Yes two mistakes and two goals, yet they made two-three mistakes and get away with them thats how cruel this league is. I just wish Ward had been goal side of Drogba were he should have been and i wish he would stand closer to his winger when the ball arrives he leaves himself far to much space to close down. But he must be playing to orders off MM / TC. But i know this wont go down well but my player of the season so far is Karl Henry he looks a Prem player in every way shape and form, yes his one fault is to many back passes not enough forward passes, but people dont see ( or want to see ) the amount of work he gets thro , and attacks he breaks up, but again you can say the same about Andy Keogh you either love him or hate him, again i think he’s a very good player in this league. But i think we are playing our best football of the season and if we keep this level of performances up we will have enough to stay up. GOOD LUCK ON SATURDAY LADS.

The Reebok is not a nice place to go and Bolton will definately play the McGinley card to wind the atmosphere up. That was a bad defeat for them at Blackburn, maybe the Owen Coyle brand of football is confusing them !
Okay we got beat too, but, our display was quite decent. I don’t think MM should do much tinkering with the formation or the players holding down the first team places.
The bench is very important. When their fit Keogh and Edwards will be great assets to have ready. I suppose Milijas should have a place along with Hennessey and Stearman. Seb, Sam, Castillo and Surman would make up my other two. I wouldn’t let Halford or Elokobi anywhere near the dugout.

golden blood arguably the best manager in 30 yrs in my opinion was john barnwell who won our last trophy- league cup and got us into europe, graham turner did a fantastic job too. football is about opinions and i respect yours but you need to respect some of the others on here.when you say MM is the best manager in 30 years, remember his record. He spent about 17 million in the summer and most cant get in the 1st team, has the lowest scoring team in the premiership, and one who has conceded the most apart from maybe hull and burnley. Also has won the fewest games at home. Our decent away form has keep us out of the bottom 3.
MM has done just enough to give a fighting chance to stay up, thats no more than the managers at pompey, burnley etc have done.So I fail to see what is exemplary about that. His 4-5-1 formation picked itself as we only have one effective stiker in Doyle upfront, and this is the only way we can play to be harder to beat but the downside is the lack of creativity and playing defenders like foley in advanced positions means that sods law is that good chances fall to them and they dont anticipate it or its a poor finish like against chelsea. This season we have had a habit of underperforming against the teams around us like against wigan at home, pompey, but if we play like we did against spurs and chelsea, we’ll get something at bolton as long as we dont concede more than one goal.
John,I truly believe that if he had not been injured in the car crash then John Barnwell would have gone on to greater things in his managerial career. The team he put together in 1980 was a very good side and had we matched our Away record (11)wins,at the Mol we would may well have finished that season as Champions.
Away from home Arsenal.Everton and Man utd.were truly memerorable games,Oh for some more of the same in years to come.
I totally agree about Barnwell adn I too think he would have gone onto be the greatest.
I am drawing my comparison after barnwell. Barnwell is clearly more succesfull than Mick and that is where Mick is now targetting.
I also agree that we need more quality. And I think this summer will prove a definitive transfer window.
The signings in the current squad are Hanahman, Zubar, Goodygoody and Doyle. 4 players out of the 11.
I think that is a fare percentage of new signings. All of which make a valuable contribution.
Apart from Halford, Surman and the Hoff, I think the business has been ok.
Could be better. Hell yeh, but are we going to buy now, no. We have to wait till the summer, where I think we will see some real investment.
I am confident we will survive as I believe Mick has more bottle than most fans. Including me.
I just wish people would appreciate what this guy is doing for us. Instead of picking fault with every little thing that they feel is justified.
There are critisisms that I would draw in terms of team selection and tactics. But Mi8ck is a damn site more qualified than me, and he gets to work with the players on a daily basis.
His opinion is the one that matters, so all I ask is that we as supporters, support.

Henry slows us down is to slow on the ball and simply out of his depth in this division. YER he may have a few good games now and again at the end of the day he aint good enough at this level, compared to ince and rae 5 years ago hes a mile of what they did for us !!!
Once again like many of our players hes in the side due to lack of knowledge about this division by our manager and lack of funds by the owner.
I will back my team for ever whoever pulls on that short on match day
I agree, must not loose game at bolton but my opion go at bolton on sat abit more and we could take 3points let hope Mccarthy doent tip up just for the 1 point because we may regret it.

Adam, In their time I agree Rae and Ince were miles better than Henry.Ince in his prime was one of the very best. But in 2003/4 their legs had gone or very nearly gone.Henry has strength and a bit of pace.We are in the main not over run when he is in the side.He does a lot of defensive covering as well. You need a mix of talents in midfield and of his type Henry is in my opinion a very good player.

Ok fair enough you don’t believe Keogh will make a difference, some of us do though but that’s just opinions and we all have one.
One thing though Pedro.
IF when Keogh is fit and back in the side he really DOES make a big difference, will you be prepared to comment on how wrong you were and be ready to eat a huge slice of humble pie?
It may not happen, but if it does will you do that?
Consequently if he doesn’t make a difference I will admit I was wrong too.
This is again an example of Wolves fans slamming a player before he kicks the ball in our shirt for the first team (yet again). Just give him a chance that’s all I ask. Remember not too long ago, not many fans were willing to give Guedioura much of a chance and now look.
One more point, even though Foley is improving playing on the right wing. Wouldn’t you rather see someone like Keogh there instead? Granted he doesn’t score as many as some would like, but he is capable of doing so if he’s in that position or if not will pass it to someone else who can. Keogh is quick and Foley isn’t quick enough to play that position although as I said, he is improving.

An outsider ! you must be mental.
my god there would have to be an epidemic of illness in the England squad for him to even be considered.
Granted he wears his heart on his sleeve for wolves as would all of us if we played for them.
But ENGLAND quality ?? hahahahaha
think costa’s right about you…

I think we’ve been guilty of given the top 6 teams too much respect when playing them this year
Theres been times such as at manure where we could of got a result be it a draw if we had showed more aggression and less respect.
Having said that we are where we are cos of the Manager aswell as the players, we aint dead and burried yet…
Lets see that will to win against Bolton from the players
And from Mick lets see a line up ready to do some damage early in the game not 10 defenders behind the ball hoping we get a lucky break with doyle.

Wolves can beat Bolton, and beat them they must, providing our Manager starts Keogh & Edwards with Doyle, ( providing they are fit )
This game calls for a change of structure to the Wolves team, and against Bolton we cannot afford to have Doyle on his own as the only striker.
Mark my words, goals will win this game, early goals, and it will not happen unless Doyle is assisted up front
I have always said that Keogh was the only striker on the Wolves books that is fast and agile enough to run with Doyle, so lets pray he is fit and ready, and our Manager in his wisdom !!!!! picks him to start with Doyle.
Get ‘big Chris; back from Bristol, can’t understand why he was farmed out before Ebanks-Blake, who is having a ‘horror’ season, and unlikely to make the cut with Wolves this Season.
Remember, the key to win this game is ;early goals’, and more than just Doyle trying to get them….Keogh-Edwards or both must play at the expense of Foley, who has lost some form….Early goals

I am impressed with the way the lads are playing at the moment. But if I was Bolton on Saturday I would target Jarvis and Doyle for a few heavy tackles. If one or both of these players get injured it is game over. I don’t think we have the backup for these two. I just hope we can get a much needed three points on Saturday. If we don’t win this game we will be in the bottom four at the end of the season.

all that has to be done is win.i dont care how just make us dream.

mick mcarthy and his team of brave wanderers will comfortably avoid relegation, so people like wolves1877 can eat humble pie , again, lol

sorry angry wolf, i’m not sure what you think keogh and edwards would add to this team? certainly not any creatvity or goals, which is what we will need to win.Do you really think they would deserve a place above jones, mancienne, guedioura?
Keogh works hard but is shotshy and edwards gets forward well but doesnt have any confidence in front of goal. A lot of good chances have fallen to him and he hasnt managed to even hit the target.
Also they are coming back from lenthy injuries can they cope with the physical stuff from bolton, i dont think so. Can see keogh on the bench. when fit he might replace Foley on the left

Erm… Has Foley played on the left in his life ever? I think you are struggling with this post mate.
I actually think that 451 works best when it can be moulded during a passage of play into 442. In Keogh we have a player who will be able to start a move on the right when we are defending and when we gain posession will be able to get up to support the central striker. If we have Edwards as one of the three central midfielders he would be able to cover Keogh on the right when/if he gets caught out of position. With Jarvis hugging the touchline on the left and Keogh floating between Right Midfield and Centre forwad I think we could become difficult to pin down and a different proposition.
