Mancienne’s warning for parent club
Friday 19th February 2010, 10:00AM GMT.
Michael Mancienne will sit out the meeting of the two clubs closest to his heart – but with a warning to Chelsea that they will face a re-invigourated Wolves.
The 22-year-old’s year-long loan came with the proviso he could not play against his parent clu,b who will be looking to keep up a free-scoring run against Wolves in the three Premier League contests they have so far contested.
Two five-goal beatings in 2003-04 campaign were followed by Chelsea’s 4-0 success at Stamford Bridge in the first half of the current campaign.
But Mancienne believes there is growing confidence in his adopted team’s ranks to avoid an unwanted hat-trick.
He said: ‘The manager was absolutely buzzing that we did the double over them. It was a very good win. To be honest I think it was well-deserved, because we played really well.
“It has given everyone at Wolves a massive boost moving three places away from the bottom three and it is a case of staying out of there now. Matthew Jarvis is doing well at the moment. Karl Henry in midfield as well, and Kevin Doyle up front, but all the boys have been good. It is difficult to pick out one. We have been playing 4-3-3 with one up front.
“Everyone is excited about Saturday because it is a massive game and they will be playing against world class opponents which is a big thing for the players, a good challenge.”
