Guedioura looking to surprise Chelsea

Wolves midfielder Adlene Guedioura is relishing his chance to catch Chelsea by surprise after declaring – “This is what I came to England for.”
The previously unknown 24-year-old, plucked from the obscurity of Belgian football, earned rave reviews from Molineux with his bold attacking play in the toppling of Tottenham 10 days ago.
Now comes the even more daunting challenge of tackling the league leaders and one of Europe’s most formidable collection of players – but they will find no shrinking violet in the ambitious Guedioura.
Chasing the lure of a permanent contract at Molineux, the French-Algerian is eager to step up to the plate.
He said: “What’s happened to me over the last month has been a very good surprise. But it’s also what I’ve wanted and what I’ve been working for all my life. It has been a dream but it’s not an emotional dream, it’s something I was aiming for and wanted to happen.
“I want to be here and it’s my objective to stay here and play against Chelsea and all the other teams every week. I want to show the manager and the supporters that I can play at this level and stay here.
“So yes it has happened quickly, but now I am here I have belief in my ability and am focused on what I am doing. Chelsea have the best players but if we respect them so much then we will lose our own ability to play our game.
“We need to be aware of their qualities but also believe we can get a result.”
Manager Mick McCarthy has already declared his intention to field an unchanged team and his recent switch to a five-man midfield will also be no surprise to Chelsea.
But in Guedioura, Wolves have an ingredient Chelsea’s stellar cast of stars know little of.
He said: “I know all about their players – doesn’t everyone? Ballack is the best player in Germany, Lampard is one of the best in England – you could go through the team like that.
“But we are in the Premier League and we know we have to take on the best. We just have to work hard and do what we can like we did against Tottenham.
“It has to be like that for every match now.”
