Goals from all areas key for Zuiverloon

Albion defender Gianni Zuiverloon has claimed sharing goals throughout the squad could give the Baggies a vital edge in their promotion battle.

The Dutchman scored his fourth goal of the season to secure his side a point at Cardiff on Tuesday.

Zuiverloon is one of 15 different players to score for the club in all competitions this season.

He said: “I’ve got four goals now but I don’t think about that. I just want the team to get promoted and we will see at the end of the season how many goals I have.

“I have no idea why so many of us have scored. Maybe because of the way we play everybody in the team gets into position where they can score so I think that’s the secret. It definitely helps, because you don’t have to rely on the front players.

“You know if they don’t get a chance then one of the others will get a chance, so that’s good.”

The full-back’s goal helped the Baggies extend their unbeaten record to nine matches since they were beaten at home by Nottingham Forest last month.

Although a point in the Welsh capital was vital to maintaining the momentum of their promotion campaign, Zuiverloon reckons they should have left with a victory.

He said: “I think we deserved the three points, but we got one point and I suppose we have to be happy.”

“I think we have two players back for the next game so they are coming back slowly, but we had a good result last night so the spirit is still good.

“We are very confident. We are on a good run now and we just have to keep winning games and pick up points.”
