Time to map out a plan for Villa's future
- Says blogger Matthew Turvey
Wolves 1 Tottenham 0
Wednesday 10th February 2010, 10:00PM GMT.
Wolves clinched a priceless victory over Tottenham to move out of the Premier League relegation zone.
David Jones’ 27th minute volley was enough to give Mick McCarthy’s men their first victory in seven league outings.
The win moved them up to 15th and a point clear of the drop zone, as they signed off for a 10-day break before hosting leaders Chelsea.
Victory over Tottenham also made history as it completed the club’s’ first top-flight double in almost 29 years, since they beat Sunderland in April 1981.
Jones wasn’t the only hero however on a night when Wolves unearthed another potential hero in midfielder Adlene Guedioura, who had a fine full debut and looks to be ready made for the Premier League.
But Tottenham forced the best chances of a first-half which the home side ultimately had control of.
Gareth Bale’s viciously curling free kick fizzed inches wide after David Bentley’s cross on just 33 seconds was tipped over by goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann.
Then Jermaine Jenas was freed to head the ball over Hahnemann who came out but Karl Henry, who had been left standing by the initial pass, recovered to clear.
Play switched to the other end, where Kevin Doyle claimed a penalty for a push by Sebastien Bassong but replays showed any contact was outside the area.
Hahnemann was then off his line brilliantly to block Niko Kranjcar’s effort with his legs, after Defoe’s backheel split the defence.
But Wolves were gradually easing themselves into the game and the all-action Doyle beat the offside trap to latch onto Jones’ pass for a cross put behind by Jenas.
Apart from Doyle, no one inspired more than Guedioura on his full debut.
The powerful midfielder, on loan from Charleroi, was full of running and no little ability in pushing forward at every opportunity.
Wolves’ efforts were rewarded in the 27th minute with a goal started and finished by Jones, who swept home on the volley into the corner of the net from near the penalty spot after the midfielder had brought Matt Jarvis into play for the cross.
Their tails up, the home fans howled for a penalty when Jarvis tumbled under challenge from Michael Dawson, but referee Mark Clattenburg waved play on.
Jarvis continued to be involved and tested Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, who palmed his low drive aside.
The second-half started briskly and Kranjcar struck the side-netting with a fierce angled drive, before Doyle hooked wide under pressure after chasing down a lost cause.
But injuries to each side disrupted the momentum with Wolves left-back Stephen Ward, who is carrying a knee injury, replaced by George Elokobi and Spurs’ Eidur Gudjohnsen making way for Peter Crouch within four minutes of each other after the hour.
Crouch’s arrival saw Wolves forced to defend a barrage of crosses, but Hahnemann and his defenders proved equal to the task.

up the wolves well done mick! the credit has to go to him specially signing guedioura he looks the part!! bring on chelsea! the lads done us proud

All the Whiners will still be at it – see below. Come On You Wolves!!!
Wolves were great last night, the new lad was outstanding, pressing forward at any opportunity and not afraid to shoot.
Doyle was his usual excellent self and it was one of Jarvo’s best games.
Wolves now have a formation that works, one they are all comfortable with and hopefully we can get David Edwards back soon who I think was outstanding for us up until his injury
The lads have certainly deserved their break and I cannot wait for Chelsea
Report abuse
Great result. Are we still going to sack MMM
Report abuse
Easy answer. YES!! One win doesn’t mean he’s any good, for Christ’s sake get a grip.
Micks only real job this season is to keep us up, and while he is still on coures in doing that get off his back.
Short memory, Mark.
Let me remind you: MGoo, Lee, Hoddle, Turnip, Chapman, Docherty and Jones thowing a 12 point lead to Albion of all teams.
He may not be world class (or even premier league class), but he’s better than anything we’ve had for a loooong time.
If you want to knock Mick, suggest someone realistic to replace him .
Megson’s available – no? Well how about showing some support for the best Wolves manager for 30 years (not saying too much, I know)!!
Showing your childish attitude with remarks that that, one swallow does not make a summer.
Wolves played very well first half tonight and thoroughly deserved the 3 points.
Doyle( as always),Jarvis,Jones and the new boy did very well.
Ward sorry said this many times is NOT a premiership left back,Bentley easily had the better of him(thank god Lennon was injured).
Elokobi was imo unlucky with his booking but the defence looked more assured when he came on,at least with his positional sense.
Yet again a cast iron penalty turned down,Clattenburg should take a good look at his performances (Boltons disallowed winner on saturday).
Please Mick do not mess with the team against Chelsea and lets see the same commitment as tonight,At least there is a glimmer of hope.
Mate u what .. I take it you have never played the game or understand it. George is all heart no doubt , but positional sense is not in his locker seriously have a word.
Last night Bentley gave Ward a Torrid time,When George came on he was largely innefective,Probably because the size of George scared the s–t out of him.Neither George or Ward are premiership quality but then again we have known that for a long time haven’t we.
What are you on? Bentley easily had the better of Ward? How many times did bentley (a player of potential international quality) beat him last night! Ward was excellent against a very talented player, he was wrong to back off so much against Carr but when youre playing against Bentley you have to be more cautious about diving in, many of the people sat around me (some of whom are not big fans of ward) were impressed with his defending last night and felt he had that ponce in his pocket!
Top Wolf,Sometimes the benefit of Live television can give you a better insight into a certain area of a game.
Bentley gave Ward a Torrid time,
Those were actually the words of a very old hand at football commentary Alan Parry. The studio guest whose name I missed actually commented how Bentley used his guile rather than the speed Wizardry of Lennon.
If you actually had the time that we are accorded on TV you would have noticed that when the ball was moved down the right flank Ward backed off more often than not allowing crosses to be made. This was the same on Sunday.Whilst Big George does not have the quality of a premiership LB Last night he made his presence felt and Bentley slowly drifted out of the game.
You are making assessments from a tv screen. So judgements on passages of play and performances cannot be judged on the small area of play that you can see.
I am aware that there is good support within Malta and I am sure that you might make the trip across when you can but watching Sky or satellite channels is not a true view of any game!
Rob,have to disagree, with the amount of camera angles and showing of moves over and over again one can certainly form an opinion of how a certain individual is performing.
If you took time to study Ward you will see that he is continually caught out of position,Vary rarely puts a foot in,jockeys and backs off mainly.
I am certainly not knocking his effort/Workrate but IMO like Foley being forced to play in a position they are not used to is a step to far in the Premiership.
i agree with maltawolves, when Ward went off the defence looked a lot mote solid with Elokobi on.He does at least keep in his proper position instead of chasing back as Ward through being too far up the field and then having to resort to shirt pulling. It looks as though we have a real footballer in the french lad.Lovely ball control, and is not frightened to take a player on.Old Wolf

Well done team, at last a chance to show what you are capable of.
With quality management this team can survive and prosper in the Premiership!
Well done lads.A good result. We have to do this week in week out if we are going to stay up.
Didn’t get chance to watch the match tonight, but by all accounts, we deserved our win so well done to the team, sounds like we may have found a new creative midfield player.
Still don’t agree with the team selection by McCarthy, and some of the subs were strange, but at least he made them earlier enough.
Perhaps he will be brave enough to change the team now and give some of the other players he has bought a chance. By all accounts Matt Jarvis and Doyle were the stars
Report abuse
So you didn’t go to the game?
Didn’t even watch the game?
So how can slate Super Mick’s team selection, subs and say Jarvis and Doyle were the stars?
Unbelievable.
Dont have Radios in Wordsley then?
You are a wit Malta idiot.
My point was simple;
If you don’t go to / even watch the game you lose your right to comment on the match.
I bet you’re one of the fools that phones WM after a game and praises them for their ‘brilliant’ commentary.
Fool.
I think anyone has the right to comment on team selection ands subs whether at the game or not even watched. Commenting on the game would be different but anyone can have an opinion on team selection. And anyone with a radio or internet will know Jarvis and Doyle were excellent. You dont need to have been there.
Lets look at some positives here.
We are playing well in the league, we may lack quality going forward but we make up for some of it in spirit and endevour.

Wordsley,Must have been a real intelligent school you went to (Not).
One day you may be able to post without using derogatory remarks.(Ask your mommy what it means).

Condescending and sarcastic remarks, on the other hand, are perfectly fine.

Laurence,If the guy was able to respect other peoples opinions and not resort to name calling on every post he disagrees with their would be no need for sarcasm.
The whole idea behind this board is for people to say it as they see it.
Nobody will ever agree all of the time but it is possible to agree to disagree without resorting to childish name-calling.
Ignore Wordsley mate he is a TESCO he probably doesn’t know where Spain is.
He probably does not know where Sandwell is.Up the Wolves what a performance and what a reformed character Jarvo is, worth the drive up to see and the late drive back.
When will Mick learn that 4-5-1 just doesnt work. Joking aside, the performance was fantastic, and all the commenters that critisised Mick for signing two nobodies from belgium, one of theos nobodies showed glimpses of sheer class tonight. Dont get me wrong, i havent seen too much of him, so im still not sure on his capabilities, but thats the exact reason i wasnt getting on the managers back about signing him.
Once again, Doyle was fantastic, and for the clubs sake, i hope he doesnt get injured. Fantastic result, and if we can get a few more results like this we should manage to survive, which will be a fantastic achievement by the players and manager.
This was my point the other week after signing these two lads. We would all liked to see someone we knew coming in, but people were knocking these lads before they even had the chance to kick a ball for us. They may turn out to be world -beaters, or they may not cut it, but people should at least let them give it a go before they are knocked.
Pleased with the overall performance last night. Let’s hope we can pick up at least one win from the next three games.
Despite all the howling of late I can only say well done lads, don´t lose the momentum with Chelsea and Bolton coming up. And Mick, DON´T fiddle nor waste the chance for another three points from Londoners!!!!
I would have liked to have seen Milijas in the starting line up tonight but if Jones fits the bill and scores the goals, why not? It´s the name of the game today. Have we unearthed a star from the Belgian league after all and will the whiners concede it was a good bit of business after all? We´ll see. He certainly wowed the terraces tonight, or were some peeps at a different game?
The rays of sunshine keep coming from the direction of Matt Jarvis. It is obvious that he can supply the service that the ??strikers?? so badly need, and he did that for SEB as well last year.
Concentrate on Jarvis’s performance, and let him get our strikers working properly!
Of course, Mick won’t listen to me because he is just so blindingly better than anyone else since the creation of the world! Only a Yorky Bar can be so pathetically thick!
Mick bought him, Mick plays him, Mick chose the tactics tonight. ???? Me thinks you are being ironic??
Prejudiced?
Hmmm. I wonder if Mick won’t listen to you because you’re just one of many thousands of people who think they know better than him, all offering different ‘advice’ – none of whom have any qualification to offer it. Or are you actually Sir Alex Ferguson ?
I have been unmasked! Yes, I am Sir Alex Ferguson, and it is time that you started showing some respect!
Jarvis has poor service! He can run byline to byline all day but putting in a cross of quality is just not possible from him! If Jones did not run into the box the cross would of been a poor one.
Excellent result, but crossing is one of our weakest points this season, except Milijas corners and free kicks.
No, sorry I have to disagree with you there.
One of our weakest points this season has been no midfield general (now hopefully solved with Guedioura) and the constant high ball-long game which bypasses our midfield anyway. As opposed to keeping it on the deck and passing with the midfield which makes such a difference as shown by last nights’ performance.
Actual crossing of the ball has been ok, I take your point about Jones making the cross count but that’s what all the best players do, they gamble and usually get the reward for it. Watch any of the top sides, most of their goals are scored in this way from inside the box.
So your saying there is no midfield but we have good crossing from the wings?
Doesn’t quite make sense mate.
I agree good players make things happen like that situation Jones did.
Yes I agree our mid is weak but surely you cant disagree with me saying crossing from open play has been poor?!
And our midfield looks poor because we lack quality. If you took our midfield back to the championship, we would tear the league apart. But The Prem is a whole new world. Number 1 league in the world.
My point was in saying when we could cross it, the crossing has been dire.
C.W.
I’m not sure about the “tear the league apart” comment. If you remember most of that midfield played against Palace home and away and we didn’t make that much of an impression did we?
I will admit that the crossing this season has been far worse than last where most of our goals came from, but (at home) the pitch is narrower and the quality of defenders is better in the Prem. Also Jarvo works better with Kightly on the opposite wing to complement him, as we saw many times last season.
I think “dire” is a bit strong though, although we can cross much better yes.
How about this though? If Guedioura can control the middle as he did against Spurs, I think Jarvo will be able to concentrate on what he does best, skin the defender and get a decent cross in. I think myself, knowing Ward is suspect on his positioning that Jarvo was always making sure he could help him out as loss of the ball there was usually fatal ending with a chance at our goal. Now we have Guediuora, Jarvo can bomb forward more knowing there is better protection should we lose the ball.
IMO the more confident Jarvo gets the better his wing play (runs and crosses) will be, and he looked MUCH more confident about this against Spurs.
As they say “watch this space”
I agree Bully Fan, Jarvis has been missing in a lot of games this season but maybe adding that new lad to the mix might give him the license and confidence to bomb up the field. As seen against Tottenham he causes problems.
But whatever the team, I’ll always be behind them.
And yea Palace game was poor but cup games and league games cant be compared evenly.
Happy that we are out of the bottom for at least another week :)
What a game. I think I aged a full year during the match. Once again Doyle was superb but I was more impressed with some of the moves that Guedioura made. The Belgium looks like he could be a great asset for the team. Love them Wolves.
What a difference 3 days and a few changes makes! Maybe this will take the heat off MM now. Our first double in 29 years! I think everyone thought the away win at Spurs was a fluke! But not now! 10 days to prepare for the next big test against Chelsea. Keep the faith!
One win doesn’t make a season but we really needed that so well done to the boys.
Wonder how the boo boys will react to the game – howl their usual garbage or praise Super Mick until we get beaten by Chelsea?
Personally I’d blame Jez for us not winning 3-0 tonight.
Wordsley wolf, tonight was a great game and we played well. But the reason why is because we play a midfielder who wants to get forward, and not 7 defending players. If we play like that the rest of the season i have got no problem with mick, but if we play the garbage that we play before tonight i will have a problem. This is a results business so get your touge out of micks bum.
I listen to you defend the thrash we play sometimes and you make me laugh! People pay there money and support there team and if there not happy, you jump on them and say they are not supporting there team.
I love wolves and i am a season ticket holder and have been since a was a kid. I thank mick for what he did last year, but he has done some strange things this year and with his past record people are going to ask questions. If we play like last night i would be happy with mick, but dont have ago at people if he gets it wrong.
Basically, Mick deserves critisism. But sacking him would be knee jerk and ridiculous in the extreme.
Great post leo wolf! We are well within our rights to complain with the dross recently, and suprise suprise, the team is changed to have one less defender and the wolves win. I doubt we would have won if we had played the same team put out for the last few weeks. Mick got it right last night, and well done to him and the lads. would still like to see a proper right midfielder asap though!

He must share a big portion of the blame for transfer window failures. As a Wolves fan possibly you might agree with this.As a Moxey fan no doubt you don’t.

Or as a realist you might accept that little of any note was done by anyone in the rtecent transfer window. It was an all time low.

Well done Wolves fantastic win tonight and fantastic double over spurs.

Now that WOULD be great. :)

Great performance, though I did only watch it online. We were lucky to ride out the Spurs pressure in the first 20 mins but after that I thought we were comfortable-ish.
I’d love to see all the morons start slagging off Mick after tonight, and I’ve no doubt they’ll try.
I like the look of Guedioura, hopefully Henry and Jones/Milijas will be able to give him room to take people on more and more.
Up The Wolves!

Any moaners out there? Seriously, I´d like to know. Want to hear from you. Wolves Mod etc. What was wrong with this? MM isn´t a saint, neither are the Moxey/Morgan contingent out of the woodz because of this win. Any comments? Still in the dog fight. Can we beat Chelsea with a positive mind set? Though I´d agree with MM, it´s more important to beat Bolton….. Support the team if not the management. The players deserve it at least. Wolves for ever. Down the bottom end of the Prem ladder is better than being on no ladder at all………

Just want to say – congrats Wolves. You were the better team and deserved your win. Special mentions to Doyle and Jarvis – excellent performances. As for my beloved Spurs, we were poor – possibly our worst performance of the season – anyway we move onto Bolton on Sunday and hope to continue our FA Cup run and possibly salvage something from this season – because on tonights evidence we can forget the Europa League let alone the Champions League!
Anyway again, congratulations!

Really good win tonight. glad mick dropped mancienne, he is not a defensive midfielder and is inexperienced. We need more attacking play in our next couple of games if were going to get anything out of them.
Agreed. Mancienne did not inspire confidence even when he came on, so dropping him was a good move. Fair play though; all the lads worked their hearts out last night and looked like they were all fighting for a common cause; they wanted it. Doyle, Guedioura and Jarvis were a constant pain to the opposition and while Henry gets a lot of criticism, he got a few good touches in. Hanneman was a rock in goal. At times we played the ball around with real confidence and the display we put on was Premiership quality. It was a reminder of what we can do and why our position among the World’s elite is totally justified. This is exactly what we want to see from our club. Thanks lads, and keep it up.
One life, one club. Come on you Wolves!

well organised, motivated, hard working, excellent tactically, were all phrases that I’ve heard on the tv and radio tonight about Mick and Wolves tonight. great night, good team performance doyle was quality !!! realisticaly we need atlest a point out of the next 2 games and we need to keep our goal difference down !!! anything more than a point would be a bonUS !!! WOLVES AY WE

Credit where credit is due – Wolves deserved this result tonight. I feel it was our best performance especially over the first 70 minutes. The new lad from Belgium looks to be a really promising addition-he worked hard, was brave and took on defenders and almost pulled off a goal that would have qualified for goal of the season.
The team has to do a better job of controlling the ball over the last 20 minutes of the game- they made it a bit of a lottery towards the end. The referee was complete rubbish – Doyle should have had a penalty, no question.
The goal was superbly developed and it was a great finish by Jones who has a really good match.
I still question the conservative approach – why not not drop Foley to right back, slide Zubar to center back for Craddock and bring in Milijas on the right at least until we get Kightly back? That would give Doyle some more support.
Doyle has been absolute quality all season and he played a great game again tonight.
If we can gain a point or two against the big guns of Chelsea and Man U we may have a chance of staying up. And Jarvis continues to improve – he played a very good game tonight.
The only problems I have with your comments are that it was Jarvis who went down and didn’t get the penalty, and we can’t play Milijas on the right, as he is all left foot. It might be worth playing milijas down the left, and moving Jarvis to the right though, and then bring in your other changes.

A great night to be at the Mol.Well done to Mick and all of the team.

Cracking 3 points and credit to the lads.
But, and it is a BIG but, this one win doesn’t mean McCarthy is a managerial genius afterall.
Also to those saying he has unearthed a gem in Guedioura, please remember that MM had never actually seen him play before signing him.
I’m not trying to put a dampner on a superb win…I’m just being realistic.

Mick saw the lad play on dvd’s. He also went on what his scout told him, who Mick trusts. You make it sound as if he chose a name out of a hat and signed him.
Im afraid to say, its now common practice for managers to sign players without even seeing them in person, especially with the increasing number of foreigners being signed.
Few managers see all the players they sign these days – it’s known as delegation. They can’t be jetting around the World all the time and preparing their own teams. Yes, it means mistakes are made (like in any business) – even Fergie has made mistakes. They all have – and so have we.

Marcus Hahnemann (More reliable than Hennesy because of his experience)
Greg Halford (hasnt cut it)
Ronald Zubar (hes been improving all the time, and is one of our best defenders)
Stefan Maierhofer (adds something different up front but hasnt cut it yet)
Michael Mancienne (we was all praying for this signing, has struggled at times)
Segundo Castillo (dont know what has happened to him)
Mujangi Bia (Havent seen enough of him)
Adlene Guedioura (Looks quality, but havent seen enough of him)
Out of the 11 signings this season, that 5 signings were good, 1 signing for the future, could pay off, and so far 3 havent cut it. You should look at the stats mate.

1 in 10 i duno if i agree with that mick signed every player that started yesterday bar craddock so thats 10 which means he’s made 90 poor signings????? surly doesnt include kightly…ebanks…keogh….milijas?? so thats a shed load more!!!
when will you lot get off your high horses!!! were competing which is all that can be expected did u really expect a top 10 finish in the top flight of the best league structure in the world!!!
Fair play to Mick im not his greatest fan but im not guna give him abuse after last 4 games were we’ve beaten tottenham drew with liverpool drew with hull and although lost played v.well against blues!!!
if mick wants to play 4-5-1 let him do it…. lets judge him at end of season …when im sure if we gain survival all you killjoys will be singing his name!!!
lets just get behind em and back the lads we’ve got on field theres nothing you or me can do to change it!!!

well said adam i couldn’t agree more get mick mccarthy out!!!! before were out

Mick signed every player yes but how many are good enough ?????? Makes no difference we are always going to get good sides turn up and not perform that how rubbish the standered of the premier is this season. This year is the easiest year ever for a promoted side to stay up, Mccarthy cant attract experience premier players thats not good management, he tacticaly does get it right know and again but over the season so far he hasnt.
Morgan has let us down to. The problem at the wolves is we have no real ambition, Hes just taking the cash out of the club.
On sun we tried to defend in the last 20 mins, if uve watched all season defensivly we havent been good enough, we have a a few good performances but not enough, the best form of defence if you cant defend is attack mccarthy is to stubbon to admit fault, we are playing with 6 defenders every game!!!
I dont expect a top 10 fin ive never said that atall have i, however blues are on for top 10 aint they they have spent less money than us havent they and they get away with it because thay have players with prem experience.
Actually, the Blues have spent more than us, you should really take some of your own advice and look at the stats. As for where they are going to finnish this season, they have had an exceptional season which by no way reflects on what promoted teams should be doing. Every promoted team aims for survival, if they achieve that, then great, if they over achieve then even better.
If Blues have spent more than us than it aint by much is it, As for spending money at-least they haven’t wasted it on players that are either being played out of position or not good enough, my point is you get what you pay for ie doyle. That is only 1 buy that the club have made the rest have been gambles

I know how the market works, my point being that the people on here who are heaping praise on MM as if HE discovered the player should appreciate that actually he didn’t.
He may not have discoverd the player, but he was brave enough to sign an unknown quantity, when so many fans on this board were critisising him for not signing proven players. I think that deserves some respect dont you.
I honestly DO NOT think that signing an unknown quantity on a 6 month loan is either brave or particularily deserves respect.
If it works…..I am great
If it doesn’t…Blame Taff, or the fans, or bad luck…but never blame myself !
What i was trying to say, is he took a risk on a player who has never been in the premier before, especially with the fans wanting to sign experienced premier league quality.
Although its a 6 month loan, im pretty sure that they have already agreed terms of a permanent deal, which is quite sensible in my oppinion.
If it does work im pretty sure he will not be taking the credit for thos signings, considering theres another recent article on this very site that quotes mick in saying how well his scouting team work and how they were the ones to find the two lads from belgium.

I have a confession to make. And I don’t care what anyone thinks of me.
When the full-time whistle blew, I actually cried a little bit. Not ‘boo-hoo’ fits, but just a gentle tear or two.
Sheer relief is my only explanation.
But that’s how much Wolves means to me.
I have no shame for loving my club.

Brilliant result! Could only follow on line but sounds like everyone put in 100%. Great stuff and a spark of light after a very dark start to the year. Doesn’t ease the pain of the diabolical window of opportunity going down the pan by a penny pinching moron of a CEO.

Just got back home to Gatwick from the game after several road closures. Well it was worth the effort. Well done to the lads for a great performance tonight and well done to Mick for lifting the team after Sunday’s disappointment. All this talk of sacking the manager is rubbish, we have a good manager who is getting the best out of the squad we have. We have several players still to come back from injury. A young and hungry squad with the exception of Jody Craddock who gave his all again tonight. When you look around at all the clubs that have financial problems, remember Wolves have been there in the past and whilst we may not all agree with some of the management decisions, we are a club that is solvent, owned by a real person and moving forward. Keep the faith, back the club and team you are supposed to support till you die and if you cannot do that then b off somewhere else as the Wolves deserve only the best supporters.

Good points, Liz. I think we southern based supporters are only too aware of what has happened at Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth, to mention three, because of constant local news coverage down here. We don’t want to go down that road again.

Enormous result…lets hope the 10 day break doesn’t work against our much needed boost in confidence. I didn’t see the game but by all accounts the goal was worthy of Premier League Football with good crisp passing & clinical finishing by DJ. I’m so happy he is back in our side fully fit & firing on all cylinders. Could Guedioura be our equivalant of Steveb Gerrard….seems like he had a dream debut….we have to remember every once in awhile Taff Evans unearths a real nuggett for Mick…not all come good & work out. Don’t think Michael Kightly will be fit for this season…looks like another Joleon Lescott, out for a whole Premier League…anyway I wish MK, AK & DE speedy recovery so they can get involved in our survival fight. Good luck against Chelsea, Man Utd & Bolton…one wonders why we are not playing West Ham inbetween the cup games…

Good game lads, nice to get some points. Hahnemann made some great saves hes my man of the match. they all played well, guedioura looks good. still should have been 2-0 looked a penalty that ref gave everything to spurs, was a complete joke. bring on chelsea also got a game in hand on hull now and we play bolton soon anythings possible. come on boys!
Thats the best they have played all season!
Guedioura showed that he has a bit of class and could be the spark we have been looking for. Once again Doyle was outstanding and the football leading up to the goal was encouraging. Dare we hope for a result against the pensioners??

Quotes:- “Sack Muppet Mick! Get rid of the useless, pathetic bloke!”
So pleased that, for ten days at least, we may not have to read this short-sighted drivel. Those of you who write this garbage, crawl back under your stones for a couple of weeks. Then you can slag him off again for losing to Chelsea. Keep going Mick! Brilliant tactics tonight, get Henry back to where he plays best, increase the attacking options, tell the team they are good players and playing well. Respect to you mate.

Great!! 10 days break — plenty of time to replace the Muppet with a real manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done to the team…a great performance. Adlene Guedioura looks like he could be a superb signing. He’s like a bulldog straining at the leash, but with unbelievable ball control. He’s like a cross between two types of players, the strong combatitve type, and the nimble skillful type. He seems to have incredible touch and able to spin on a sixpence! If he keeps this up, he could be as good a signing as Doyle.
COME ON YOU WOLVES!!!!
First the negatives-only one.
CLATTENBURG. One of the poorest refs I have seen in a long time. The ONLY decision for us he got right was the advantage he played on Doyle which eventually led to the goal. One ABSOLUTE DEFINITE pen and 2 more which as they say “I’ve seen them given”. If he gets payed for that performance, then it’s a disgrace. Right that’s done that bit.
One man who for me stood out all the time while he was on the pitch ADLENE GUEDIOURA!! He NEVER gave the spurs midfield (and defence at times) a minute to settle. MOTM without a doubt! Some people have been saying he could be the new Alex Rae. I know it’s early days but based on his performance last night, he could be BETTER. I know I’m getting carried away a bit but the lad has good touch, some vision, strong in the tackle and likes to get forward too. What more can you ask of a midfielder in this league. He was at the heart of most of Wolves’ best play last night.
Sorry to state the obvious but I think it’s warranted:- A large slice of humble pie with lashings of “maybe I was wrong” gravy and a side order of “judged him too soon” vegatables for the fans who dismissed him BEFORE they say him in our shirt. THis lad could just be the saviour of our midfield. Where did the long ball game go, we passed along the floor mostly, and didn’t it make a difference.
Jarvo was great all night until Palacios knobbled him, and Doyle never stopped running. Spurs couldn’t cope with their pace, Jarvo is now becoming the winger we all hoped he would for us in the prem.
Dave Jones started and finished the goal, and it was a really well taken one.
I’m not getting too carried awawy though, if Spurs had worn there shooting boots it could have been different, but it wasn’t.
Up The Wolves!

This is one win in the last nine games. One swallow does not make a summer.
People comment because of their support for WWFC However people have different opinions.
Personally i have doubted MM and one game will not change that.BUT I will give credit where credit is due,MM got it spot on team, tactics and substitutions,Can he keep it up for the remainder of the season?.
BullyFan,Spot on Clattenburg rubbish.

Malta me old mate – you are right, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but there was a great caller on WM after the match saying what a wind up the moaners are. What do they add to the club? Does anyone think we are more likely to stay up because they slag pff players and call the manager (who whatever you think has a thousand times more ability than any of us) a muppet etc? 90% on here calling for his head on Monday, all saying Foley is no good, can’t play 4-5-1, etc etc, well it just feels good for all of us who love the club when they get it rammed down their throats!
A few weeks ago I was listening to an old interview with Shankley and he said the first thing he did at Liverpool was to get rid of anyone who was a pessimist – good advice I think.

even last night I could hear moaning about the formation! 4,5,1 works and the facts are there. We were shipping 5 (blackburn, sunderland) and 4s earlier in the season (and chelsea took their foot of the pedal). That is looking less of a problem. And good tactic from Mick dropping Foley back into defence. He was brilliant in that position and dealt with Bale brilliantly! So all the moaners need to get out and not turn up any more!!
5 aginst blackburn?? That was 6 years ago first day of the season.Didnt we lose 3-1?
I do agree 4-5-1 suits us. If only we had a right winger. Foley is a good defender but Hunt would have been perfect. Cant see Kightly doing anything this season.
fair play it was only 3. not great though all the same!
On an earlier subject I said that Doyle needed a partner to help him, well I may have just had my mind changed for me. Having seen how well 4-5-1 can work if you have a battler like Guedioura in midfield, and the rest of the midfielders support Doyle like last night then yes it works. Doyle on his own can be like having 2 or 3 players, he chases lost causes, holds the ball up brilliantly and makes intelligent runs.
So providing he stays fit and doesn’t burn out (really hope not), then 4-5-1 is the way forward. Once all the injured players AK, MK, DE are fit and back they will give us much better options.
MM should hopefully now realise that this may be very close to his best 11 and play them all together as often as possible.
Let’s all get behind the team when we play the Chelski millionaires and give them a match this time, Everton did it so let’s get into them!
We Are Wolves!

well done .if you analyse goudiouras performance he hardly made a mistake,im convinced he gave half the team the confidence to play good football,if he does this week in he will be outstanding.hannamen, jarvis, doyle ,zubar and goudiora really good performances, karl henry im not going to knock his performance but on the ball his passes really slow our momentum ofter causing us to end up passing back to the goalie.find someone 15 yards in front of you karl you will be a 50 % better player, but that apart well done all the squad, didnt think millijas was that impressive but think him in midfield with arlene would be a interesting combo

God how I wish we could play Spurs every week we wouldn’t all be worrying baout relegation would we. Yes this Belgian bloke looks to be the business, have we just uncovered the midfielder we have been searching for for such a long time? A few days ago after Blues we were all dead low weren’t we but this is bloody brilliant. What a funny league, we do the double over Spurs and Blues do the double over us and most folks would says Spurs are a far better outfit. I will not be happy though until we have more points than games played and with Hull still fighting and the Hammers on the rise think we will probably need 40 points.
Fight, fight wherever you may be!!!
Mmmmm, nope. I’m pretty sure it was his foot.
Well done boys!

Cracking performance, all round class, agreed with the new boy being the business, strong in the tackle and skillful enough to make Spurs nervy of him. You need a player who makes the opposition slightly cautious. He showed some confident touches and could have had a spectacular goal! KD, having watched Championship footie for so long you forget what it means to be a holder of the ball..someone who takes pressure away from the midfield and defenders when its played up to him . IN KD we have possibly one of the very best at his trade…i can’t believe how he does it! The ball sticks to him like glue. Maybe “Bostick” could be his individual sponsor next season?
The Jones goal..quality…i am sure it missed his head though and went in off one of his ears!

If MM sticks with this team, then maybe I said MAYBE we could stay up. That new alex rae player was class last night, did really well and bossed the midfield. I think Wolves played well with both Doyle & Jarvis working extremely hard up front.

Does this Message board represent the true fans views?
On the way home last night I had radio WM tuned in, one of the callers said how happy he was with the teams performance especially for Mick who has taken alot of stick on the E&S message boards.
Prior to last nights game this board was full of negative comments but at the game I didn’t hear any, no negative chanting or booing. So does this message board represent the true fans? I think not.
By true I mean people who make the effort to go to games and see themselves, not follow others.
One final point, wasn’t it nice of Spurs to bring their own officials.

Tim Wolf Well said. I have been saying this for a long time now.
That ref was chronic, he should havbe been booked and sent off.

I heard the same caller and I agree he spoke very well. Especially how above all he was pleased for Mick.We all make mistakes and I think he was wrong to do that private television work on transfer deadline day.But I never doubted his ability to organise a team to put up a backs to the wall performance like last night.

Would all those ‘fans’ who wanted Guedioura shot in the Compton car park last week, please raise your hands ??
Thought not.
2 points off Sunderland. They’ve got one striker worth £17mn and another worth £10mn. Both have premier experience. Thats before you take into account the rest of their team. It’s not as easy as some people on here make it out.
Id love Foley back at right back, but, who would fill his boots ? Both Halford and McCarthy would be shot in the Compton car park if Mick played him there, and then there’s the young lad Mendez-Laing, but would you throw him in for the run of games we have coming up ?
Alex,Nice to be able to respond after a good well deserved win.
Regarding Guedioura thought he was outstanding last night, but without wishing to appear negative need to see this repeated on a regular basis before reaching a conclusion, how many players have had great débuts only to dissapear into obscurity.(ON last nights performance I think this lad will do well at the Mol.)
Mendez-Laing and also Ishmael (Think that’s how you spell it)Never had the opportunity to see them play how good are they?.
Any way as I said good win look forward to Chelsea-Enjoy the break.

He was class wasn’t he, Malta ? You are correct though, it’s keeping that standard consistently that matters, but I struggled last week with some people who were unvbelievably critical of the guy before he’d even kicked a ball.
Ive not seen Mendez Laing or Ishmael. A lot of people think they’re both very good players, but I cant really comment.

I saw Mendez Laing against Swindon and he is definitely one for the future. He alongwith Ishmael and Kyle Bennett are too young though to be thrown in a relegation fight. Hopefully Bathh and Malone – out on loan – can make the grade also!

Fantastic result and one in the eye for the idiots on here and who sit round by me in the Steve Bull who criticise the players (Henry especially) for passing the ball sideways and backwards, the “lump it forward brigade”. Did anyone else notice that we scored our goal after stringing together around 30 passes many of which were sideways and backwards. Listen you idiots – the other team can’t score when we have the ball. We can, as proved last night. And the reason for passing the ball sideways and backwards is to draw the opposition out of position, as proved last night when Huddlestone and Jenas were drawn towards Henry who released the ball (sideways) to Jones who played a one two and applied the finishing touch! Watch the big teams. Sideways and backwards isn’t always a bad thing!
Oh and one more message for the idiots round by my. You don’t mark players on the touchline. That’s a basic principle of defending. And you don’t dive in, you stay on your feet, especially in this league with whistle happy refs. That’s another basic principle of defending.
Anyway, moan over. Well done lads. Let’s see if we can get something out of Chelsea and ManUre – a point would be excellent – and a decent result at Bolton.
Up the Wolves!

Let the moaners moan on here and burn their season tickets if they want.
But let the true Wolves supporters get behind the club cos they deserve it.

Walden Wolf, If you cannot see that a couple of quality additions would have made a big difference you know very little about football. It was great last night and Mick and the team might just pull it off. Before you tell me I know nothing about football,I can tell you in the North Bank last night was an all time great former Wolves player. He said last night,it is just a pity they have not got another quality striker to play with Doyle. To continually quote the one exception such as Sunderland and ignore successful teams who have strengthened indicates to me you are in denial.
Chris, thanks for the reply and i wouldn’t say you know nothing about football – first cos I’ve never met you, but more importantly you support the Wolves so you clearly are a genius!!
Just to be clear I havent continually quoted Sunderland – I’ve mentioned them once.
What I failed to get across is that buying players alone doesn’t guarantee success.
By the way, what does success mean? There might be a few answers out there.
Of course its a pity we havent got another quality striker to play with Doyle – in fact I wish we had better quality players across most of the team.
But we’ve got what we’ve got and everyone involved has to make the best of the resources available.
I’d suggest that means we as supporters decide to support the team as best we can, MM does as best as he can, JM the same and also SM etc etc all the way to the chap at the turnstiles.

Walden, I agree with the sentiments. But don’t forget Bob Dylan’s view on this,’ there is no success like failure and failure is no success at all’.Personally a bit more of what we had last night will do me.

Great result, but Spurs were poor and constantly gave the ball away, they weren’t up for it, and us, every games a cup match. And yes we didn’t play a team of right footed defenders so we had a bit more of a chance. West Ham beating blues shows what this time of the season all about. The run in is going to be fun. Let’s hope Bolton don’t beat us and get some momentum, it’s going to be close so hang on for the ride.

What a bloody daft comment, West Ham obviously had someone at Blues on Sunday and unlike us put the shackles on Phillips. Difficult to judge from the highlights on MOTD but they had two guys snapping at his heels and cut out the service to him. I said it last week, he does not relish lots of attention.
Several of the Blues ageing players may not be able to keep their good run going and but for crass naivity We would now be celebrating 6 points instead of just three.

Guedioura looks quality. Taff picked him up so he must be. Doyle amazes me the way he holds the ball up and retains it and his strength for a small guy is fantastic. Cannot wait for the return of a fully-fit Keogh, Kites and Edwards, if we can get Matt Murray fir or bring in another keeper (Myhill?)I think it is time to cash in on Hennessey 4mil with a sell-on clause is good business.

Definitely a find, if the early signs are anything to go by.
Great touch, comfortable in possession and makes time and space for himself.
Not afraid to carry the ball forward in the middle of the park either. Two or three times he nearly went all the way himself by sidestepping a few challenges.
Gets up well to head the ball, put his foot in when he needed to and more often than not, came out with the ball.
He’s a big, strong, athletic bloke, who looks well suited to the style of play in the Premiership. Too often this season, we’ve been outmaneuvered by midfielders with quicker feet, but Guedioura looks like the answer to that problem.
It is only early doors, but the signs are very encouraging and he must play against Chelsea.
Many thanks Thomas. I’m hoping that we’ve found somebody who can actually hold the ball in midfield and give us a chance to control the pace and momentum of games. Sounds like we might be lucky. There aren’t many players like that available for twenty thousand quid in Ireland or the Whie Van Man League!
I was at the game and the New Bloke looked spot on for his first start.. In a nutshell:
He was confident when on the ball, willing to take players on, willing to shoot and get stuck if he carries on doing that I won’t have any complaints.
The one thing I noticed last night was that we were actually trying to shoot at goal as for most of the season this has been lacking….

Im sorry, but Mick McCarthy has just beaten Tottenham (again). A team that is supposedly in the top 4 of the prem. How on earth can you all be slating him!?
Last weeks game against Birmingham was just unfortunate, it happens to every team. We deserved the win, but just didnt get it on the day, that happens in the prem.
Mick guided us to the premiership, and looking at the disparity between the top teams and the bottom teams in this league, he is doing a very good job of keeping us out of the relegation zone. He needs all our support, so can the pessimistic ‘fans’ just look at what he has done with the club and cut him some slack?

Great win Lads!
Lots of people are slating Stephen Ward for being the weak link, fair enough he’s not exactly the best left back ive seen but who else we gonna play there, Elokobi, Surman, Hill? All of the same calibre in my opinion so stick with Wardy at least he links up well with Jarvis and gets forward a bit.
My weak link at the moment is Foley on right wing, it just dont work. If only Kightly was fit!
Doyle & Guedioura…pure class.
PS n yes i did go to the game thanks!

A solid performance and was partly due to the fact that by Mick playing Guedioura our midfield was not so negative.
We are still stuck in the middle of it and need Edwards, Keogh and Kightly back. Pompey have gone, Burnley’s away form is shocking and there are plenty of other strugglers.
What could be our blessing is our last 5 games – all winnable. What we must do beforehand is put on performances like we have done against the likes of Spurs twice, Villa, Everton and not like Blackburn, Blues and Palace!

I’m told by someone who was there that Guedioura looks a real find – tough, great passing, not afraid to have a shot. He also said that Zubar was a rock. Anyone shed any light on this? True or false?

Great result last night – well done to Mick and the lads, Doyle – well what more can you say about the guy, class! Henry played very well taking players on-and beating them as did Jarvo, Guedioura looks a great find and by the way 69 his nationality is French – have a look at his profile on the wolves web, some have mentioned Wardy and had a moan but! have failed to mention that he was playing through the pain with a dodgy knee (because he wants to fight for the team)and still gets berated, the whole team played well and certainly warmed us on what was a cold night.

laughing Wolf.
I too am no fan of MM and have quetioned his decisions consistantly.
However, lets just say well done for now and reflect that we are 15th in the league
I really don’t think Curbishley ( who has only ever done well at one club) or keegan ( for goodness sake!!) could do any better at this time.
MM will not be going anywhere this season so let move on. Have our say on here, but lets stick with him for the moment.
On last nights game I think we looked better for Guedioura. Strong quick and not frightened to go forward.
he looked great when he came on at blues and I think he will and should play again.
Well suited to this league.
Doyle again immense. How quick is he!!?. Some of the lost causes he gets too are unbelievable.
Jarvis looked good again.
I agree that Foley is not worth his place in that position. Great right back but not in midfield
It will be interesting where MM fits Kightley ( when fit) Zubar and Foley into the team.
Over the last two games I would say we have been as good as Blues and Spurs and should not have lost at St Andrews.
Maybe the tide has turned and 4-5-1 is the way forward.
Time will tell but lets keep the faith!!

Keegan & Coppell?
They’d both have nervous breakdowns.
Or maybe Ince, sacked how many times?
Or Hughes, spent 100′s of millions and still couldn’t do the job.
MM will lead us up and you watch us consolidate next year.

It was nice to see us passing the ball around and not hoofing it.
We worked well to keep the clean sheet, even though we were hanging on at times, we still deserved to get the clean sheet!
Bring on Chelsea and Man Utd!!
Guedioura is a class player – Reminds me of how Alex Rae used to play!

Fascinating reading all these comments on a regular basis from a place called “Down Under” via the internet. Have followed Wolves since Oct 1987 – I wanted to see an English football pitch & Molineux ended up being the one. An older man called Bill who used to play for Wolves told me that Wolves FC had a soul…but I have never actually seen them play live. Does this make me a non supporter? However we get matches beamed in on cable TV at weird times of the morning like 4am & crawl out of bed to watch the match…any Wolves match! The way the team plays at present is at times quite scrappy & needlessly hoofing a long ball usually results in the loss of possession. There have been so many cases that players appear to have decided to just kick the ball without thinking of the consequences of what will happen AFTER playing the ball. Maybe the team needs to relax & play the ball regardless of who they are playing. Possession is the key to winning any game & this is a trait that the team does not show consistently. Does this mean we give up on them, consistently denigrate them through whatever forum available. ABSOLUTELY NO WAY! So for those of you who constantly criticize … try cheering the team on ….in every forum available! And YES if Spurs can be beaten any team can be so what is stopping us?

Why can’t we play like that every week?

I didnt go last night…….I went to the pub instead.
As I sat in front of the cosy fire watching all the cold smiling wolves fans come in for their post match pint I was left evaluating my ‘support’. I didnt like the way it felt. It left me feeling quite guilty after such an excellent performance and result. Wolves including Mad Mick need my support now more than ever before. Last nights result proves we are not facing a losing battle and, at least until the end of the season I should show some faith.
Well done to all the fans that braved the icy conditions despite the low morale surrounding the club……they got ther reward.
Up the Wolves.

A WIN IS A WIN AND WE GET THE THREE POINTS, SOME GOOD FOOTBALL WAS PLAYED YESTERDAY, BUT CAN IT BE SUSTAINED…I THINK NOT.
WE HAVE SOME VERY TRICKY GAMES AHEAD STARTING WITH CHELSEA AND THEN MANCHESTER UNITED, BOTH OUTFITS HEAD A SHOULDERS ABOVE TOTTENHAM, AND LETS HOPE THAT WE CAN GET KEOGH BACK BY THEN TO JOIN DOYLE AND JARVIS, AND WE MUST PERESEVERE WITH EITHER BIG CHRIS OR SAM VOLKES AS A TALL STRIKER, NEEDED TO BE A FOCAL POINT FOR THESE PLAYERS.
WELL DONE TONIGHT, BUT PLEASE DON’T FORGET THE GAMES AGAINST SUNDERLAND,BIRMINGHAM, HULL,PORTSMOUTH, WEST HAM, THE STRUGGLE AGAINST TRANMERE ROVERS & BEING OUTPLAYED TWICE BY CRYSTAL PALACE, AND SO ON…ALL GAMES WE SHOULD HAVE WON BECAUSE WOLVES ARE BETTER THAN THESE TEAMS

He got us promoted, and if he can keep us up even by the most narrow of margins, he should be in charge of our side. all the negative comments on here always tell the happy clapper to get real and use some common sense, but at the end of the day, its the fans with the negative comments who need to get real.
Looking at any promoted team, where would you expect them to finnish? If your answer isnt in and around the releagtion zone, your deluded. The fact of the matter is, promoted teams cant attract the same players as established sides, and havent got the squads that other teams have, so finnishing anywhere above the relegation zone is not only an accomplishment but a fantastic achievement for everyone involved.
We are still in the race for survival, so Mick deserves all our support, and if we do survive, he deserves a nice bonus (not that footballers or managers need it with the money they are on).
I want Wolves to be challenging for the premier title, im realstic enough to know that anywhere above the releagtion zone is a fantastic position and job done by board, manager, and players.

One hell of a ride they are giving me though constant ups and downs but I have faith.
I have questioned Micks tactics and selections like many of you, but at the end of the day, we are better off than 5 other teams right now. We are financially sound, and even articles on the BBC state we have enough to stay up. And judging on last nights performance, why not?

Hmmmmmm.
Happy clappers or just happy Wolves fans?
God knows we deserve some happiness, especially when our team plays well and fully justifies the victory.
You must know yourself surely, being a Wolves fan is one hell of a rollercoaster ride. It is however a ride that I will NEVER be getting off. Fair enough you may not like not the manager, i’m no huge fan of him myself, but he is still our manager. That’s no excuse to be playing the “happy clappers” card.
The dark days of being a “going nowhere” team since the final days of Graham Turner who took us as far as he could (god bless him), so many false dawns, useless managers and players and losing to mediocre teams too often. Times which almost make me shudder when I remember them. I didn’t start supporting the Wolves until 89 so thankfully I missed the “Bhatti Brothers” era, but I did see probably some of the best years of the Magnificent “Raging Bull” hence my posting name. Thank god for Dave Jones who showed us how we could play our way into the Prem. and then MM who’s taken us back there within 3 years after Hoddle messed us up and left us in uncertainty.
Now we have been part of the hallowed league twice in 6 years or so. If that makes fans like us “happy clappers” then I am a happy clapper and proud.
Tell me, are we like Portsmouth, Cardiff etc. millions of pounds in debt, not sure if our club will continue especially if we go down again? NO we are NOT. So while we ARE here let’s all try to enjoy the ride and hope that we are STILL here for next season, it’s all we can do after all.
Stop calling fans “happy clappers” and just accept they are happy Wolves fans who like where their team are at the moment, due to MM (it’s undeniably a fact like it or not), THE PREMIER LEAGUE. Oh, and please don’t play the “no ambition” card either, I have plenty of ambition in this great club of ours, but we are NOT the huge club we used to be anymore and we have to grow and improve to get there again, and that will take time.
I’ve met WBA fans who are politer to us than you are at times (yes, I have read your postings recently), you are supposed to be one of us, are you? If you are then accept we are different and have our own opinions on the Wolves and they should be respected or at least excepted, NOT shot down and laughed at using the term “happy clapper”.
That also goes for all the rest of you who use that term, it’s getting really boring now.
By the way, “a tough couple of matches?” try a tough season. This is Wolves in the Prem. and we are treading water at the moment with our heads above it. We are doing MUCH better than the last time we were here so we have improved then, yes?
If you want instant success, go and support one of the bigger clubs. If as I suspect you’re not a glory hunter, then respect your fellow fans a lot more. After all we all have the same dream, Wolves to stay up and then consolidate, however that dream is realised.
I’ll apologise right now for my strongly worded post but every time I see a Wolves fan calling another a “happy clapper” on here it REALLY annoys me when you think of where we USED to be, and almost went extinct altogether but for Sir Jack and Co.
Wolves Till I Die.

How is it ironic, that happy clappers come out when theres something to be happy about?
I dont think you have to like Mick to know that hes done a fantastic job for this club, and without him, we probably wouldnt have even reached the premier. I know this is not the league to hold sentiment for players and managers, but at the end of the day, were currently out the relegation zone, so in my book hes doing a good job. Im confident that he knows that we still need to pick up vital points for survival.

Dave Jones was magnificient last night. I’ve said before that he didn’t seem to get the recognition he deserved for the contribution he made last season, and it’s no coincidence that we have had a better midfield in recent weeks since he came back into the team. It’s time the South Bank started chanting his name. (Nothing against Elokobi but it’s not right that his name is sung as soon as he comes on when Jones plays his heart out and gets nothing).
Mick should take a leaf out of Birmingham’s book and play a settled team for a while. Everyone did well last night and with Guedioura in midfield with Jones we finally look to have a midfield that can provide some service to Doyle more directly through the middle instead of going wide all the time.
Against Liverpool and Tottenham we have looked like a premiership side and with a bit of luck (and referees giving penalties when they should) we should continue to be one.
Lastly, the double over Tottenham is finally some revenge for 1972.

I didnt think it was possible, but oh my god we played the ball about in midfield and what a difference that has. Give the defenders and Dolyle more time and support.
Where did the composure come from? I would say with out doubt the pairing of Guedioura and Jones and with better supply again eat my hat!! both wingers did better in particular Jarvis who I thought was excellent.
Hope the new man keeps it up and the team get some confidence.

Wolves fans, CALM DOWN CALM DOWN- Spurs are the most overated side in Premier League history and ‘Arry the most hyped, with a court case to think about the next day to boot(we wont mention his other ‘talents’ here, for fear of a liable suit !!! ). Spurs were awful and lacked the firepower due to ‘Arry’s arrogant selections ( is he ‘mad-Mick’ in disguise !); A jammy win here and there does not disguise the fact that McCarthy is way out of his depth as a Premiership manager; A loss to Spurs and a change of manager would have drastically increased Wolves’ chances of staying up in this league of 10 poor sides:Bear in mind, after every enforced break ( well done Mick for costing the club a million with that inept performance at Palace), Wolves players play as if they have just met ! Only Mick could reward them with time off, after a lucky win, what a Muppet. Wolverhampton is getting a battering in the press at the moment and McCarthy’s cretinous selection at Man U turned a neutral press against Wolves, with most wanting them now to go down; then he did the same against City and Palace; what will he do against Chelsea god forebid, the man’s a menace. Wolves fans, it’s 17.00 saturday and to think you could be looking foreward to a cracking home, televised tie against the Villa, instead thanks to ‘Merlin’ it’s a sunday valentine’s brunch with the misses!! Merlin’s wand has developed a droop me thinks !!!
