Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Wolves won’t dwell assures Doyle

Striker Kevin Doyle has insisted Wolves won’t dwell on the harsh defeat against Birmingham – but admits they need a special result against Tottenham for redemption.
The Republic of Ireland international grabbed his sixth goal of the season to put his side ahead at St Andrew’s yesterday, but nemesis Kevin Phillips came off the bench to score twice in the last 10 minutes as Mick McCarthy’s side lost from taking the lead for the first time since January 10 last year.
Wolves have the chance to put the 2-1 loss to Blues behind them with Wednesday’s home clash and Doyle is drawing strength from that.
He said: “The good thing is we have a game in two days’ time – I wouldn’t like to be stewing on this for too long. Thankfully we have the chance to redeem ourselves against Tottenham and we’ve beaten Spurs already.
“It’s a chance to get us out of the bottom three. We know one win will do that. We’ve got out of it already this season, so we’re used to it.”
Hull beat Manchester City on Saturday to heap pressure on McCarthy’s side, but Doyle insists Wolves can do something similar.
He said: “Hull’s result was unexpected, but hopefully we can do a similar thing against Tottenham at home. It’s going to be tit-for-tat for the rest of the season.”
Doyle admitted Wolves let the chance of a rare victory slip yesterday.
He said: “We’re just disappointed because we should have locked it up. It’s hard not to dwell on things like that.
“Three points are so valuable, so important – that would have leapfrogged us above so many teams.”
Doyle was Wolves’ Man of the Match leaving McCarthy with at least had something to smile at – along with substitute Adlene Guedioura.
The manager said: “Doyle’s been terrific, he enjoys and relishes playing this role. He has to play up against two centre backs and does it as well as anybody.
“Adlene will be a good player – he’ll get games because I’m really pleased with him. We’ve just had to get him up to speed.”
