Furious McCarthy’s Wolves vow
Wednesday 3rd February 2010, 11:30AM GMT.
Angry Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has vowed last night’s shocking FA Cup performance at Crystal Palace will not happen again after reading the riot act to his players.
McCarthy locked the players in the dressing room for an hour after the shock exit in the 3-1 fourth round replay exit at Selhurst Park.
And the Molineux chief has promised the players another ear-bashing on the training ground tomorrow as they bid to get back on track for Sunday’s derby at Birmingham.
Wolves failed to get a shot on target until Karl Henry’s injury-time consolation.
“Birmingham is not going to be the easiest place to go and put it out of our system but I don’t expect us to play like that again,” said McCarthy.
“Palace outplayed us, outfought us, outrun us and outworked us – they wanted it more than us.
“But I’m not going to condemn my team – I did that to them personally in the dressing room.
“I had my pound of flesh in there and I’m going to have another one when we get back into training tomorrow.
“We’ll sort it out between us, I will have my discussions behind closed doors with the lads.”
McCarthy admitted he was mystified why Wolves produced such a lacklustre display after draws against Liverpool and Hull.
“I’ve no idea why it came on the back of two good performances,” he said.
“We’re back now to the Premier League and while it’s a difficult place to go and play, it should inspire us.”
McCarthy made five changes to the line-up that drew with Hull on Saturday, with Ronald Zubar, Jody Craddock, Christophe Berra, Michael Mancienne, Kevin Foley and Karl Henry all keeping their places, while Geoffrey Mujangi Bia made a quiet debut.
The Wolves boss is now looking forward to having his other regulars back as they attempt to rediscover some winning form after just two victories in the last 10.
“We’ll have a few back now as well with Kevin Doyle, Matt Jarvis and Stephen Ward, so fresh bodies will help,” he said.
Last night’s defeat means Wolves now have a free weekend on February 13-14 and so could re-arrange the twice-postponed trip to West Ham, who are also out of the Cup.

Agreed, empty promises once more in the tranfer market & blatent no class at palace confirms what we all knew adding to our misery.
Come on Jez we know you like your bonus for being in profit but its really time for you to go back and control tomas the tank i think !
Mick what about your ear bashing
i’ll do it for Morgan
YOU are a championship class manager at best
YOU havnt a clue who your best 11 are after 2 seasons in charge.
YOU also dont know there best positions.
You cant attract any player here and you dont want them anyway unless there irish, good on you tube or ex Sunderland
YOU have no respect for the fans or the pride or the club, & most the fans cant stand you any longer.
MORGAN are you really interested in taking wolves to the top ?
If you can honestly anwer yes fine, if not DO ONE !!!!!

not one player last night deserve to wear the gold shirts, what a joke of a club they really are, from top to bottom its just a circus, i dont blame players like hunt not wanting to sign for a fast sinking club!!! wish the 3 M’s would go and take a job at the tesco’s tripe!!!!

I watched last night and cringed like the rest of us, but MM has done a lot for this club lets not forget that.
I want him to remain as manager
Report abuse
Top Manager in a very difficult job, working to a hard budget. I think we shall still be Premiership next season.
Agreed. He’s been unlucky with Kights out and Blake not performing, he’s doing ok in a tough job. He will keep us up.
Top Manager??? Players improve when they play for a “top manager”. How many Wolves players have improved this season. They started quite well,, could even have been considered unlucky at times early on, but all the joy seems to have been sucked out of the team. Clueless management, no clear structure or plan to the games, players just running around trying to figuire out what their role is. The Palace game was about as bad as any performance I’ve seen from a Wolves team in 50 years and there were some bad ones in between. I think the best we can hope for is a new manager that can at least bring some structure and a morale boost to the players we have.
Not been around quite 50 years but I couldn’t disagree with it being the worst performance I’ve seen. It wasn’t even up to Championship level maybe lesser still. Is Stearman the most useless defender? How bad was Foley…again? SEB…how bad? Bia??? wtf? Who scouted him?…Stevie Wonder? Will we see a better mis-hit goal? Will our players stop hitting-and-hoping? Will everyone of them stop trying to put their arms around their opponents after they’ve been skinned? Who poked MM in the eye? Not one decent performance. Dreading Blues game – and as it’s on the telly I’ve got to have the excuses prepared for the stick at work. Jeez, never thought I’d become one of the moaners on this page. Gotta get over last night’s performance….help.
A Hard budget? thats why we made a bid of 5millon for Stephen Hunt and made an offer for Robbie keane offering him the full £70,000 wages. We have got money but Mick is going for the easy cheap options
Report abuse
Top managers do not play 5 centre halfs, a right back and a defensive midfielder against a lower league team in a 4th round replay. yes i accept that some managers will play a very weakened side in the cup but they play players in their correct position. its no suprise we lost when you look at the line up. zubar and stearman arnt full backs, can you ever imagine craddock bombing up the line helping the winger and firing decent crosses in??
Are people dreaming on here – we wont be in the prem next year.
Not unless we get a decent manager in.
Kevin Keegan
At least we would try and win a game
and the football would be entertaining…
Report abuse
There’s 15 games left, what the heck would a new coach do with those players?
We live or die with the same team. If were relegated (90% chance), MM will be gone and we’ll hear you complain about the new coach next year….
A new manager would play players in their natural position – that’s what a new manager would do.
He might also stumble upon the revelation that playing 5 4 1 has not shored up our defense as it is designed to do and therefore revert to the 4 4 2 system that our players won the league with last season.
He might also have some tactical nouse and realise that when you put 2 forwards on instead of one they are going to need some service so you don’t take off the only bloody player who can play on the wings and cross a ball!!!
He might realise that a player who won player of the season at rignt back might actually be better in that position than as a winger or as support to a lone front man!
That’s what a new manager might do with those players!!!!
This is not a knee jerk reaction. Anyone who thinks that we have played well since the Man U debarcle is deluded. I was not totally against what he did there but the repurcussions have had a devastating effect on our form and the blame must lie solely at MacCarthy’s feet (that’s unless you want to blame the 24000 or so fans that turn up week in week out to support Wolves irrespective of the dross that is currently being served up!)
I totally agree Scottwolf – no wingers???? The distribution of the the ball out of defence last night was inept as was their support of the midfield .Time and again midfield had to wait for support . In all the time he has been at Wolves , MM has still not built a solid defence. Craddock was left too often in a 1-to-1 situation. He just has no pace ( and never did ).I admire him for the way he has fought back but enough is enough of the Craddock / Berra pairing. Their styles are too similar and they both go for the same high balls . I’d like to know who is supposed to organize the defence because whoever that is -surely Craddock – is getting a nil response out of the other 3 !!We had 4 centre backs in defence but 2 had to play as full backs -why ?? Seems we missed out or didn’t even try to get Nicky Shorey to give us a better balance at left back.
Second rate manager that buys second rate players. Should have gone ages ago.
Great manager who can only buy the players who want to come to the club. It is not as if we have not flashed the cash is it.
It is not always about the money. It is about whther the player wants to come to Wolves.
Mick is a superb manager. It was a bad day against Palace. But it will be a long time before I critisise super Mick.
You are right, it is not just about money, who would want to come and play for a clueless, arrogant muppet?
How many bad days are you going to happy clap – the club is going backwards, No idea, No Ambition – WISE UP!
Is that to go with the bad day at Hull (please don’t try and kid us that that was either a good performance or a good result), and the bad day against Palace in the 1st game and the bad day against Wigan before that and the bad day against Tranmere – shall I go on?!?!
I admire your loyalty to the manager, even if IMO it’s a little misplaced but my loyalty always has been and always will be to Wolves and their success.
Thanks for getting us up Mick, you will always be remembered for it but that’s about all you will ever achieve for us. If I thought there was any chance of us staying in the Premier League with this man in charge I would support him but the sad reality is that it isn’t going to happen.
MM stated 40 points as the target that leaves us 19 to get from 15 games. When you consider that 3 of those games are against Arsenal, Chelsea and Man U where even the most avid optimist would be stretched to see us getting anything leaves us 19 points from 12 games. We have managed 21 from 23 games so far and our form is in decline- you do the maths!
No it’s not just about the money – who would want to play for an arrogant and clueless muppet!
the only reason they dont want to come to wolves is beccause MM will play them out of position. Robbie keane would have probably been used as a full back or winger. No midfielder will want to come because we dont pass the ball through the middle, its always a long direct ball up to the front man. milijas, doyle, jarvis, kightly and probably Mujangi will be totally ineffective with long balls. Thats down to MM tactics

lol why do people allways turn to the manager ??? take a look at how many 1st team players were on the pitch last nite. The players have to be acountable for bad performances. Allso the only thing i think i’d blame mick for is playing players out of position i.e. Foley in an attacking right wing (not good enough and carnt play there) signing a right winger i.e. Bia and playing him on the left. Stearman left back and playing 1 up top then playing to many defensive minded players and then complaining that they dont support the attack enough. mick all you have to do is play players in there rightfull place and stop beeing so loyal to certain player if they dont play well replace them make them work for there spot
Report abuse
so do i just little silly fans that jump down the boards and managers neck when times are hard.
but when times are good the same fans kiss McCarthys bum.
lets get behind mick and the players if at the end of the season we get relagated and we didn’t give it 100% then voice your opinions
bad atmosphere rubs of on players
well don Mick McCarthy since you have been at the club i hope you stay for a long time.
were not in debt like hull porthsmouth bolton westham the club is run in the right way. mick will prove you all wrong
Report abuse
I like Mick as a person, but I don’t think he has what it takes to manage in the top flight. Mick and Moxey are the only ambitious ones at the club. Morgan can’t be asked to move us forward at all, and this is costing us.
Mick’s going to give the squad an ear bashing??
A centre half at left back..
A centre half at right back..
A centre half in centre midfield..
A right back at right mid / wing..
What I want to know is…
WHO IS GOING TO GIVE MICK AN EAR BASHING?????
What a shambles!!!!
Square pegs and round holes come to mind!
There is only one set of ears that need bashing, Steve Morgan’s. At least then he might wake up and sack the manager and his clip board carrier.
This was one of the worst displays I have ever witnessed from a Wolves team. They are not fit, they have no skill, no ideas and worse of all no passion. It looked like nobody cared.
Even the team that was relegated to the old Fourth division TRIED to win, this lot are simply not good enough.
My apologies if this has appeared more than once but the website keeps crashing when submit is clicked.

Totally agree. When are we going to stop playing everyone out of position. Where was a proper left back, why isn’t Foley right back where he belongs, why don’t we have a right midfielder. You might as well play Doyle in goal Mick then we’ll have everyone out of position!!!! I have seen enough & am swapping my season ticket for Sky Sports next season, at least i won’t have to be miserable driving home after the match!!!!
Fair dues to Palace, they won fair and square. What’s frustrating is to watch a team bereft of any idea how to develop an attacking play. The hoof and chase system is slightly limited at Premier level. I feel sorry for Mancienne and Foley who are trying their level best but don’t possess the technique to play midfield. Whilst Henry, though a great ‘battler’ hasn’t the guile to push the team foreward.
PS Anyone know how to pre-order pies at St. Andrews?
Hear hear. I’ve been an admirer of Mick’s since day one, but I’m beginning to question his judgement now. We only fielded three players with attack-minded bones in their body last night, and I’m guessing it’ll be the same again on Sunday.
Wasn’t last night the fourth “worst performance of the season” this season? If we’re to survive in this league, we need to look at what Blues do – pick the right players in the right positions, regardless of formation. We had seven fit midfielders before last night’s game – use them!
I have been an admirer of MM but his changes are costing the club we are a laughing stock, too many changes last night put down to injuries ??? the players could not control the ball or pass it, the whole back room coaching staff and manager need to go NOW..
playing defenders in midfield and only one striker, not an attacking formation when goals are required, resign now please
Report abuse
Yes and two of those attack minded players were inexperienced 20 year olds! Also why wasn’t it changed at half time when it was obvious the formation was not working?
Spot on! He should give himself an ear bashing! How can you packa teamwith defenders thenbe surprised agent they dont have a shot on target until injury time?
The fans should give him an ear bashing at the next game 442 mick playing 1 up top and you think thats gena solve the goal problems. Play players in there best position mick your making wolves a laughing stock at the min
Report abuse
Thats what I want to hear and he can only justify himself with ll 3 points on sunday Mujangi though i thought was really poor against palace and why is Kevin Foley constantly been played out of position, we had iwelumo on last night but what was the point because you dont expect foley to be doing what jarvis kightly edwards or even keogh do which is bomb down the wing there was no point in playing Iwelumo but he can only justify himself with all three against blues on sunday
Report abuse
Another point i have is why did we play 1 upfront against palace and why did then did we play just 1 winger
Report abuse
Unfortunately because it worked against Liverpool and Hull, Mick thought this would be the way forward for the rest of the season!
I was disappointed to see Vokes come off. I thought he was starting to look good and seemed to be one of the few with the passion to be on the pitch. It’s not his fault that the tactic seemed to be play a long ball to his head. He had no one to flick it on to and was caught a number of times because he had little or no support.
I agree with number 3, playing one player out of position might remain unexploited but playing 4 players out of place is going to leave more holes than a colander!
Defending like schoolboys….
Mick, you manage like a schoolboy.
Shouting and balling at your players on the touchline like unprepared kids.
Big kids play at the back.
Run around lads and work work work. Get stuck in. Head it. Kick it.
Unfortunateley, I think this is going to end in tears (our tears, the true club, the Wolves fans). Tactically we are being taken apart by the Warnocks, McCleashes, Coyles of the world. Technically, our players are lacking. Quality is in short supply.
Mick is shuffling his cards and making the decisions of a man clutching at straws and lacking any ideas. Any confidence in his or his players ability.
The big and only viable thing to do would be to get a technical coach/tactician in alongside Mick right now (as when Venables went to Midlesboro).
Could anyone see Mick doing that?
This man has made himself the key ingredient to how we play and perform. The big No.1. Fire your bullets at me!
Now that he is sadly lacking and coming up short at this level (to quote Keegan) then there is nowhere else to turn.
Tears will flow.

He keeps chopping and the changing the team and to be fair it probably has been nescesary but the one time he looks like sticking with it is when everyone is out of position blues went on a long run a during christmas about when we were making 7 changes a week so why, the thing blues have with their manager that we dont is faith when we play well he dont rest them he keeps them going and keeps the form going and the only ones MM has done it to is doyle and henry
Report abuse
Mick..
Take a long hard look at yourself.
Playing players out of position and continually playing the likes of Karl Henry, Foley at right wing, Mancienne in midfield.
You are a joke. A decent manager would get the best out of his players, but you just constantly play your favourites and players out of position.
Do the decent thing, RESIGN!
Good shout. I agree with all you said.
Is it only us forgotten so called “fans” that can see MM has lost the plot?
Were Morgan & Moxey blindfolded at Selhurst or was the CEO still “trying” to bring in players after the DEADline?
Surely the board can see that playing over half the team in alien positions is not the way to run affairs, even if we don’t care about the FA Cup?
The squad poor relations-
Milijas – Has ACTUALLY completed 90 mins – but not anywhere near the quality we paid £2.5 million for
Halford – Can’t get into the side even with injuries and if he played out of position!!
Surman – Ditto Halford
Stearman – Anyone know his best position?
Foley – Quality at full back elsewhere like a lost child.
Mancienne – Send him and his big wage bill back to Chelsea – poor for a prem player.
Iwelumo – Lost it bugstyle
SEB – Lost it big style
Kightly – Will he ever return and play more than 3 on the bounce?
Hennessey – Championship at best
Zubar – Average but could be better at centre half
Berra – Best shirt puller in the division
Craddock – Great heart but too old now
Vokes – Left like a lonely child to fend for himself.
Mujangi – Park pitch Sunday morning stuff
Elokobi – Champioship at best – Where was he last night we needed another defender in midfield?
Ward – Forward at fullback – Championship level.
Henry – Only saw him when the ball hit his foot and flew in the net!
MM IS HAPPY WITH THIS SQUAD THEN IS HE????
REMEMBER – The two best players in our squad are DOYLE & HANNEMAN – They came from an AVERAGE READING SIDE THAT WAS RELEGATED.
SAYS IT ALL ABOUT OUR AQUAD DOESN’T IT?
Good old ear-bashing. That’ll do the confidence and positivity trick then.
I wonder if SM has done any ear-bashing?
Any positive stuff to help them out from MM?Like tactics maybe.

Definitely THE worst performance by a Wolves team this Millenium.
I personally find it very hard to comprehend how ANY team, amateur or professional, could produce such an awful performance without walking off the pitch feeling totally embarrassed. Not one player could have looked a supporter in the eye outside of Selhurst Park last night and honestly said “i gave it everything”.
I know Mr McCarthy has always stated that staying in the Premiership is the No.1 priority this season, and I 100% agree with him, but does that really mean he is willing to accept such a pathetic performance? I don’t think so.
Let’s just hope that after the Sunderland game on 9th May we are celebrating holding on to our Premiership status and last nights performance is just a distant memory.
In agree entirely. Look at the squad -
Hennessey – Lost his mojo
Zubar – Should be at centre back
Craddock – Great heart but too old
Berra – Best shirt puller in the Prem
Stearman – Bad as his hairstyle
Mancienne – One season wonder – last season!
Foley – OUT OF HIS DEPTH IN MIDFIELD
Henry – OUT OF HIS DEPTH
Milijas – LAZY UNFIT & waste of £2.5 million
Mujangi – Parks pitch Sunday player
Iwelumo – Lost it bigstyle
SEB – Lost it EVEN BIGGER STYLE
VOKES – May come good in 2 seasons time
Surman – As Vokes
Castillo – Where has he been again?
Elakobi – Where has he gone? Championship at best
Kightly – will he ever return?
Keogh – will he ever return
Halford – LOL LOL
WE WILL BO OK THOUGH AS MM IS HAPPY WITH HIS SQUAD!!!

I watched the game on internet last night and i’m still fuming. What on earth we’re they doing? Team selection is still suicidal. It is generally accepted that the best teams play the same players week in week out (subject to injury) in order to get consistency – MM disagrees with this principle and changes personnel and positions willy nilly.
Steve Morgan is supposedly a ruthless and successful businessman so i ask the question
a) does he not trust MM with money to strengthen the team, and if so
b) why doesn’t he sack him and bring his own man in,
I think he is quite happy to keep the money in the bank till he gets his chance to buy into Liverpool.
Perhaps a local group of supporters with help from Robert Plant could launch a take over and save us from the current plight.
Finally, I went to first game against Palace and just by seeing Mujangi in the warm-up i could see he was going to no use to us – perhaps the guy who spotted him should be pensioned off.

If you cant hire people who want to play for the shirt, or motivate them to turn up for a game then you have no business being in charge.
Only Doyle, from the 7 or 8 you have bought in since promotion is of any use to us.
Thing is, we have witnessed last nights performance quite a few times already this season… if you cant motivate them to be up for every game, on their wages then something is very wrong.

You are as useless as ‘tits on a frog’, do the right thing…fall on your sword, take up gardening….
And before you go, another ‘hothead’ manager…Palaces Warnock…He has more motivating skills and knowledge of the game in his little finger than you have.

What concerns me most is whenever Mick starts talking about the poor defending, he ignores the fact that we did not look like scoring at all. Sure, we got a goal with what must have been our first cross into the box. I said as soon as Ebanks-Blake and Iwelumo came on that it will not make any difference because we have no wingers to supply them.
There were many things that angered me last night, but it was not being able to pass the ball that had me seething. If we were going to be out thought and out fought, at least learn something from it. For example swap Foley and Zubar around, see what that would do, or try a different central defence pairing. I felt great sympathy for Vokes who didn’t even have scraps to feed off. I can’t find anything positive at all from last night, except that the team and management owe us the fans big time against Birmingham.
completely agree.
It concerns me that hes so angry about our defending. Yeh we conceded three goals but it wouldnt have made a difference because we create nothing. Thats the issue.
The best we can ever hope for is a lucky draw.
What happened to last years attacking down the wings and causing chaos in the opposition box??
Team selection last night was strange with just vokes up front. Is he above ebanks and iwelumo in the pecking order now? Theyre not playing first team in the prem, and sill dont get a game in the cup?!
Good performances against Liverpool and Hull?
Mick, I think you need to start sharing a bit of the responsibility. I am puzzled at times with some of your team selections and tactical changes, and would love to know who told you Kevin Foley was a right winger or why you started with one up front last night.
Come on Mick, reality check! If we don’t start attacking teams again, we can kiss goodbye to the Premier League.
Mick your boring us now!!!!!

Yes the players were diabolical and deserve a rollicking. Likewise I hope that you get one in no uncertain terms from Mr Morgan. Last night it highlighted that we cannot carry on improvising ie Foley and Mancienne should not still be playing in the midfield and what was a right back doing at left back? This performance highlights the lack of strength of squad and the need for new recruits was sorely highlighted. We need kites, Edwards and Keogh back as a matter of urgency.
After last nights shocking performance we need to go with this line up at the Blues:-
Hahnemann Foley Craddock Zubar Ward Jarvis Henry Castillo Jones Vokes Doyle
I would be tempted to through the other new signing but in such an important derby can we gamble?

Probably someone who has been following Wolves for the last few years and an absolute saddo in every aspect.
Now jog on!!
Beat Man Utd? Not with Muppet, he plays a 2nd string team cause it’s not winnable!!
I don’t think sacking everyone is the answer. Everyone moans about moxey but he’s done a good job. If there was a failure in the transfer window it was a failure to identify realistic targets. We didn’t stand a hope in hell of getting johnson and hull clearly weren’t going to sell hunt to rivals. moxey doesnt identify the targets he just tries to get them

Good shout. That is the team most of the fans would like to see. That obviously means that Mick will be his stubborn self and play this team -
GK – VOKES
RB – MILIJAS
LB – IWELUMO
CB – SEB
CB – HANNEMAN
MIDFIELD – ELOKOBI
MIDFIELD – ZUBAR
MIDFIELD – BERRA
MIDFIELD – MANCIENNE
STRIKER – HENNESSEY
STRIKER – CASTILLO

Hi Rob,
Its throw, not through, get the language correct!
So can you see now why muppet mick should leave,
Idiot!
Brummie Rob, I think that team is a good call, except Zubar at centre back, because I think he is too error prone to play there. But I agree Berra was bad last night. So it is probably 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. But you keep the faith. If you ever give up it will be time to switch the lights out.
I hope SM has given you your ear bashing and your P45 Mick.

At least he recognises that the defending was awful and hes going to try and sort it out. The transfer window was a major disaster, if he thinks mujangi is premiership quality after that performance then he is sincerely mistaken.
However there is no point now getting on the teams back. We are stuck with the same squad and as much as I dislike it Morgan will not get rid of McCarthy until at least the end of the season. If we are to survive then we need a fantastic fan support and greatteam morale – and yes we can still survive. We are not like Portsmouth cut off at the bottom; infact we aren’t even in the bottom 3. Just keep believing we can do it, afterall we are better than Burnley, Hull and Portsmouth we just havnt shown it yet. So come on lads we’re not down yet and if we are to go down we’ll go down fighting.

Still think we have a team good enough to stay up. No-one thought that at the end of the summer transfer window except you. We certainly don’t look like it now.
One bonus from last night is that it showed more and more how rubbish Henessey actually is and justifies why he was dropped in the first place.
Thought the team was rubbish but not quite sure how you can blame Henessey. World class save from the first header from the corner and then no defence following up and truly awful defending for the next two. The only bad thing I have to say about him was his distribution was to slow and there were to many long balls to Vokes while there was no support around him
Report abuse
It’s simple the players are NOT good enough!
I wonder who signed them??
thats fine him getting his pound of flesh, how do we get ours, i want to know that he has had a go at certain players i want to hear him publicly tell them they will be lucky ever to have the honour of wearing the shirt again, thats the trouble with our club the supporters always come last, only zubar looked like he was embarrassed at the end of the game, craddock came over to the fans but some clown gave him the v sign so can only apologise for that but the rest just turned and went towards the tunnel.
all that is missing from Mick McCarthy picture is his big red nose, baggy trousers and big floppy shoes.Go now Mick you aare clueless
Report abuse
McCarthy says’ we defended like schoolboys’ – that’s a total lie McCarthy – schoolboys are a hell of a lot better than Wolves defenders!
While I am on defenders, Were YOU not a defender yourself? Did you actually learn anything from your playing days that you are able to pass on to your players?
Clearly in your playing days, the quality was poor unlike now where the quality, for most teams that is but not for Wolves obviously, is far, far better.
So who does take training anyway Mick, because it is patently obvious that whoever it is does not a clue about football and would probably do better taking up knitting!
What concerns me is that Mick is so furious about the sloppy defending, and not bothered that we can’t create chances.
I’m more worried about the completely failure in the ability to go forward.
So what if we’d kept a clean sheet?? We wouldn’t have scored any goals… We should be putting teams like Palace to bed.
Not sure about the choice of strikers either really, but it wouldn’t have made any difference because the midfield were so poor.
There’s only so much Team can do when most of the players are out of position, tactics are up in the air and McCarthy hasn’t made the best efforts to improve the squad IMO. it is Muppet Mick that deserves the earbashing…and more…
Report abuse
WHAT HAPPENED last night!!! I’m so glad i didn’t make the trip down to Selhurst cause I think I would have been running on trying to play myself… Can’t be any worse than those muppets from last night!!!
Not 1 of them last night wanted to be there… Palace were just as bad!!!
We had our ‘main’ center halves playing last night, and 3 goals came from long ‘hoofs’ down the middle of the field… Guess What Birmingham will do for the first 10 minutes on Sunday…
MICK, you are working your way to the SACK with performances like that last night, and I don’t want that to happen as I think it is unfair… And before BOBWOLF etc start, who else would or could do a better job at the moment…
Think the fans have been a little let down by no ‘actual’ signings in the window though!!! Saying that, when any potential signings have to speak to JEZZA, who can blame them!!! There lies the main problem with the club!!!

It,s simple the players are NOT good enough!
I wonnder who signed them??

Who does MM think he is kidding. He has created this mess with his totally inept tactics, ludicrous team selections and his dogged determination to insist on playing people out of position. Foley is useless in midfield and looks completely lost. MM is clueless just like clipboard. Pity Morgan isn’t brave enough to get rid of them. Felt sorry for Geoffrey but surprised we didn’t sign Bungle as well. Still hoping but but shudder to think what the Sunderland reject will try next.

There is one set of ears that need bashing, Steve Morgan’s. At least then he might wake up and sack the manager along with the clip board carrier.
This was one of the worst displays I have ever seen by a Wolves team and it must be blamed on the management team. No skill, no passion and worst of all no ideas.
Even the team that went down to the old fourth division TRIED to win.
When you have a CEO like Mr Moxey it is inevitable that Wolves will make no progress whatsoever. Mr Morgan is a businessman who relies on people like the CEO and I am afraid he will only be told what he wants to hear.

who was the winger ? if the belgium kid was the winger he was mostly running thru the middle , why does he play foley on the right hes done nothing there, mm its time to go imo

Normally I think critism is unconstuctive and should be saved until the season is over. Last night’s performance was embarrassing though. The players and the management both looked out of their depth against a team from a lower division.
OK so the F.A cup does this sort of thing – Wigan lost at home to a team from 3 divisions below them, by the same margin. But it was the manner of the defeat which was most alarming. Both Sam Vokes and Chris Iwelumo rely on wing play. By the second half we were playing without a left winger, and with a right winger who is actually a full back. Scary.
It’s becoming more and more obvious just how crucial Micheal Kightly was/is.

CLUELESS, GUTLESS, HOPELESS!

Watched it on the box last night and the poor cameraman had to keep lifting his camera to point up to the sky to keep track of the ball. Poor chap.
I’d love to know why we employed the same tactics against Palace as we did against Liverpool, namely 4141 and lump it up in the air.
Did anyone count the highest number of consecutive passes we made? I think I counted 5 at one point.
I think Mick needs a couple of days of peace and quiet to rethink his tactics, go back to basics and play the players in their best positions.
Good points
I’ve heard that they want to move the directors box to the back of the North Bank …. it will help Mr Morgans and company from having the “wimbledon” neck strain.
On a similar vent … could someone please explain the scrimmage/love fest that the team have adopted at the biggining of the game? and the subsequent kick off directly back to the goalkeeper? Can anyone name another team, in ANY league that adopts the same tactic?
Last point …. if there is a short list of people we want to head the team … Mr Morgan should take a look at Mr Furguson (Jr). I watched some of the Preston NE game vs Chelsea and the style of his team with, what must be said, a mixture of young and “last legs” players was pretty to watch. I know that they lost (understandable) but their commitment was neverending.

Everyone knows Mick is one dimensional and has not got the intelligance to be a top manager and cope with the demands of tactics and player egos today.
3 ways to get on well with Mick and be a regular -
1 – Put a shift in
2 – Say ‘Yes’ Mick to everything he says
3 – Speak about ‘Belief’ in the Express & Star

His determination to press ahead with Foley in midfield is baffling to say the least. As far as I can make out we have two game plans. The first is hoof it upfield as far as you can. The second is try to hoof it even further beacuse it comes back to quick. Mr Anonymous Morgan should stand up and be counted and get rid of him and his clipboard carrier. Felt sorry for Geoffrey though as he was obviously missing Bungle. Still hoping but shudder to think what tactics the chuckle brothers will come up with next.

We’re Dooooomed, Doomed I tell you !
It’s all been said but what a shambles, I cannot remember watching such a totally unprofessional pathetic performance from a Wolves team since my first visit in 1948, I am absolutely ashamed of them.
The buck stops with the Manager, think back to the early sixties….after many fabulous seasons the Muppets sacked Stan Cullis for nothing as compared to this current debacle.
Can’t pass, defend, score or compete. They are a collection of over rated Nothing Journey Men, not fit to wear the shirt and led by a manager who is a dour sad individual who has championed negativity.
May I suggest that the Chairman call Portsmouth and ask for permission to speak to their manager.

“Mick to undertake FA training on tactics and formations”
“Mick to make radical changes and play players in position”

Get a grip Mr Morgan – or we are down

We are Premiership…………the only problem is it’s Blue square premiership.
An absolute shambles I realistically can’t see where we can get the points to stave off relegation. To sack Mick now would be foolhardy, a knee jerk reaction from one match? if we had won last night there would be no problem, it would be Bring on the Villa. The fact is, it is a season of under performance from the whole club with us the loyal season ticket holders and the people who part with their hard earned cash at the turnstiles appearing to be the only ones who care about whether or not we stay up.
Given the january transfer window debacle,it is about time that the on field commitment from all concerned is there to be seen for without it we are back to the championship next season for who knows how long. Note Moxey minus a good many Early bird renewals. Those players should be in training all day everyday from now on there will 2 months off in the tropcal sun when the rest of us have a rainy week at Butlins. Now get off your overpaid arses and give us something to cheer.

At some stage someone has to recognise that the club structure with JM and MM running policy is not a long term option. We need another couple of quality players but the priority is surely to have positive playing techniques for the first team squad. The policy of playing too many out of position is counter productive and then blaming them for defeats therefore affecting confidence seems crazy.Current top table personell not good enough.

We’re Dooooomed, I tell you, Dooomed.

When things start to go wrong and players become to look disallusioned you can guarantee that square pegs start to play in round holes! over time all our past managers have done the same. They just feel like they have to fit the players in who they believe are behing them regardless of the position they play in. Colin Lee (emblem played everywhere except in goal) or Mick McCarthy, you decide!!!
You have certainly got to question Micks tactics last night! Why play 4-5-1 against Crystal Palace!! I can understand playing that formation against the big clubs like Man Utd and Chelsea but not Palace! There are also far too many players playing out of position in my opinion, Stearman got done badly for one of the goals, and the communication between Craddock and Zubar was shocking for the other goal. We certainly need a win on Sunday Mick to cheer us all up!
About time we had a new manager. He has lost it big time. We’d lost this game before we even kicked a ball in anger. Steve Morgan is the only one who can do something about this.
The cracks started appearing in Season 2 when he named Keogh and Elliott as his number one strike force.
The question now is who will replace him?
Agree that Mujangi did not seem to have great control though 2 other factors need to be borne in mind:some of the passes he received were awful and he got little support…..poor mobility in midfield. I was also disappointed that on his full debut, none of the senior players went and put an arm round him as they came off for half time.
Zubar and Stearman often seemed to be way out of position. I now agree with all the calls for Foley to revert to full back. He does not have a midfielder’s vision. Sadly this was also conspicuously lacking in Milijas whose pace and movement was not up to dealing with the hungry Palace midfield.
Couldn’t understand why Mancienne came off. He is one of the few Wolves players with a really good first touch….unlike the woeful Ebanks and Iwelumo.
But my biggest grouse would be..please Mick don’t keep changing the team and the formation..it’s clearly confusing for the players and there’s never a chance to build on the few decent results we get. One of the measures of fitness is ability to recover quickly from the last exertion and we’re always being told how fit the boys are [well. Ebanks possibly excepted]. Just look what Birmingham have done!!
I’m sure the fashion will change and all this excessive rotation will be seen as unnecessary as it was in the great days of the mighty Stan!
3 points at Brum!!

Always been a MM supporter but when a championship full back scores a hat trick in 6 minutes against a premiership team (fielding 5 centre halves in various positions), something’s not right. Especially when the premiership team hasn’t brought a single save from the championship keeper.
Time to throw caution to the winds, play the best available 11 in their own positions and, most of all, ATTACK!

Hennessey – Lost it bigstyle
Surman – Maybe ok in a couple of years when he is bigger stronger and more grown up
Castillo – Where has he been hiding?

Foley – One position only – full back
Milijas – £2.5 milion OMG!!!
SEB – Lost it bigstyle
Iwelumo – Lost it bigstyle
Henry – Never had it anyway!
Mancienne – One season wonder – last season!!
Berra – Great at shirt pulling – useless at footy
Craddock – Great heart but past it
Mjangi Bia – Parks pitch player at best
Vokes – Left to fend for himself
Kightly – Will he ever play 3 matches running?
Stearman – As bad as his hairstyle!
Zubar – still cannot speak English judging by last night?
OTHER THAN THAT MM IS PLEASED WITH HIS SQUAD!!

That performance was unacceptable, but what does mm expect when playing defenders all over the pitch. I will not condem mick though, as he has earned my trust enough to look deeper into why he had to play so many players out of position, and I think more of you should do so before you start the slanging campaign against him. It realy is quite obvious, a fixture pile up + midfield injuries = palace away a low priority match.KTF

MM apears to be pointing the blame at his ‘squad’ because he will have his ‘regulars’ back in for Prem games
Extremely poor man management Mick!!!
Your new boy Mujangi Bia had a non event as a debut start – the midfield didnt do much by way of anything for most of the game and you effectively left Vokes on his own to fend for himself – as there was no support coming to his aid at any point – Your tactics MM are a joke!!!
For goodness sake MM – Have the decency to own up to the facts that the team have players who cannot play out of their usual positions and in turn it follows that the football is very disjointed and looks a mess!
NB*** Your squad MM is YOUR squad – You chose them and you tell us constantly that you are happy with them – Really???
How long does it take to find a left back that can play at left back – NB* there was one who has gone on loan from Villa to Fulham who cant get a game – Shorey??? How do other clubs manage to sign players and all we do is bemoan why modern players expect this and that??? Imv I find it very perplexing that we appear to be the only club in the Prem that talks down to players that ask any questions about their prospects??? and have a CEO who is well known for telling the world that he wont be held to ransom over wages, fees etc – This adds to reasons why players and their agents give the club a very wide berth and go elsewhere and also confirms what is said before preseason that Wolves will sign a vast majority of unknowns and foreign players
The club seems to believe that the fans are so gullable that it makes announcements after the events have finished on why we didnt get player x or y – This is all so farcicle and obvious that it makes me cringe!!!
We should have gone for Hunt when we went for Doyle and Hanneman from Reading we didnt because we penny pinched – the same for Scott Dann from Coventry etc etc etc
Moxey is out of depth in the Prem and so is MM and his team – Are we keeping MM for next seasons assault in the Chumpionship or does Morgan actually have any business acumen or simply isnt bothered??? Mr Morgan Take a look at the man in the mirror and lets all hope he makes the changes!!!
Any thoughts???

Spot on No 5. all the back 4 was CH and the holding midfielder was a CH so we played 5 CH, its a joke McCarthy looked a beaten man not knowing what to do next, his face spoke volumes i wonder what our owner thought of it all. There again Liverpool are coming up for sale again soon. It was a shame for the young winger he seemed to rush everything he did hopefully he will settle and take his time and look around himself before rushing his passes. He was no worse than many more of our so-called experienced players, but MM as got to start playing players in their proper positions Foley must go back to RB MM is clearly lost as a holding midfielder Stearman is not a LB thats for sure, and one up front is crap it may work for some teams i.e Villa but it deffo dont work for us. Great night on the box last night! I managed to watch Shapeless, Shameful & Shameless all on the same night!!! Common theme on this blog – MM needs the ear-bashing – 5 centre-halves on the pitch last night and a right back in midfield! I don’t blame the players one bit – they were probably as confused as the rest of us – no cohesion, no shape, no idea what was expected of them tactically. FIVE changes this time – how many on Sunday ? No wonder there is no consistency. He started the season not knowing his best team and he still has no idea now. We can’t all be wrong can we ? Stand up and be counted Mick – you could possibly have it wrong you know.

Yesterday, I let my 7-year old watch the first half. I am responsible for encouraging him to support Wolves, as his old dad was born in the black country.
This morning I offered him my apologies for encouraging him to support a club, which doesn’t deserve his or anyone elses support!
I turned off at half time and boy am I glad I did. In my 41 years, I’ve seen some rubbish played by Wolves in the past, but this takes the biscuit!
Go Now McCarthy, you are just proving that you are Championship level and when you leave do you want to take 50% of the squad with you.

I have been a season ticket holder for nearly 30 years and followed the Wolves everywhere but last night just sums up how poor a team we really are the only 2 people missing from a full choice team were Jarvis and Doyle.
It comes down firmly at the feet of Mick this latest shambles.
You can’t keep playing people out of position and expect anything but the rubbish thats being dished up at the moment.
Stearman,Zubar and Manciene all C/H and
Foley(Right-back)and all playing out of position for god’s sake it doesn’t take a genius to work out what the problem is Mick!!!
As for the new lad i know you have to give him time but boy was he rubbish and don’t get me started on the Serbian…did he touch the ball? And right at the end did Mick bring the Chuckle Brothers on or last years best strike force in the Championship?
How many more games is Blake gonna get before Mick realises he just aint good enough at this level? I’m not a Keogh fan but he got booed everytime he messed up but Wolves fans can’t stop chanting Blakes name (go figure?)
Is it any wonder nobody wants to come and play for us they don’t know whether they will be playing up front in goal or making the tea!
Early bird your having a laugh. Moxey and Morgan see how many take you up on early birds for the championship next year because Wolves fans that is where we are definitly going. Mick, If you have any ounce of respect for Wolves and the fans you will resign this afternoon.
You are without doubt the most clueless inept manager the premier league has ever seen.
It is quite obvious that you cannot attract quality players to the club, and your influence on the team is non existant. Your purchases overall have been a disaster which confirms that you havent got a clue.
Finally, your long ball style of football is appalling and team selection predictable and rubbish.
So please please please do the decent thing and go !

Obviously every person who comments on this is wrong as Mick knows best.

I will not repeat the many comments on here about MM team selrction only to say I feared the worst before the game. Why was Andy Surnam not given a game in midfield instead all the defenders. Surely 442 was what was required against a mediocre championship side. Whilst he rightly critisised the team, at no point does he ever admit that he might be even partially responsible with his tactics and selection. I was at the game and at least Zubar Jones and Iwelumo had the good grace to come over and applaud the supporters the rest of them couldnt get off quick enough.

I posed the question last week – “which player with any nouse would want to join a sinking ship”. Tranfer deadline day made it very clear – NOBODY.
We are onboard the “Titanic” and McCarthy is taking us down.

Lost, bothered and bewildered – thats how MM looked last night and he didn’t have a clue what to do to put things right.
A very poor display by the Wolves team – no plan A, no fight and little skill on display and no plan B to fall back on. Didn’t even look like a decent championship side it was worse than 1st half against Wigan. As a Wolves supporter for 60 years the match(or mismatch) was embarassing to watch.
It has been said before that some people can be promoted above their abilities and I believe that’s what we have now – a manangement and players ( not all) expected to deliver something that they are incapable of doing i.e give consistent performances in the premier league and to show the fans a desire to wear the Wolves shirt with pride.
Mr Morgan: to pinch a Burnley fan’s idea – MM is not the Messiah, he’s just a very nice man who is seemingly out of his depth in the top flight.
Mr Moxey: the “early bird ” tickets will be difficult to sell at premier league price levels unless there is an enormous improvement in performance and results over the next few matches.
Mr McCarthy : please pick your best sidefor every game, injuries permitting. Stop playing players out of position and get the whole squad motivated otherwise we will be doomed – unless three teams go into administration between now and the end of the season.

Excuses ,excuses thats all we ever get from the club. They will be blaming last nights pitch next.I dont like MM but up till now I thought he should be kept on till the end of the season in view of the fact he got us promoted.Last night convinced me he has got to go.Playing one up front in a game we should have won and we have a forward whose confidence is rock bottom sitting on the bench.None of his tactics make sense. If Morgan has any guts, ambition etc he will pay Mark Hughes what he wants and get him in.Unfortunately all we want are yes men who will dance to Moxey’s tune.

Totally agree with majority of comments. No left-back, Foley should be right-back, we need a right midfielder. Might as well have played ebanks-Blake in goal then we have players out of position in all areas. Mick has lost the plot, 7 defenders against Man City let in 3 goals, 6 defenders last night, let in 3 goals. Nice to see another bargain signing make an immediate impact, MuJANKi. We should have bought another 3 players of Doyles class in the summer not very average championship players. Looks like we are stuck with Mancienne cos he certainly aint gonna get in the Chelsea team. I suggest he has a word with Leyton Orient if he wants to go back to London!! Had enough now & i am gonna swap my season ticket next time round for sky sports instead. At least i won’t have have to drive home being miserable after the match!!
What a shambles that was last night but is anyone surprised?
Playing people out of postion all over the park and that is what you get Mick.
He really has lost the plot.
You can blame who you want but what it boils down to is that Wolves put a salary cap on wages at the start of the season and couldn’t attract anyone who had premier league experience who was any good.
You get what you pay for and that why we are out of the cup to a championship team and will defintily get relegated. Blues,Spurs,Chelsea,Bolton, and Man.U can anyone realisticly see us picking up points in any of those? No is the answer.
Was that the Chuckle brothers he bought on last night or last years most potent strike force in the championship?
Why do people keep thinking Blake is anything other than a championship player and keep singing his name when other players get booed at there slightest mistake (Keogh springs to mind).
I can’t wait for the early bird to pop through my door Mr.Moxey & Mr.Morgan just to see how many fools will listen to your empty promises once again because this mug is not gonna be one of them. 30 years a season ticket holder but i can’t take much more of Mick’s tactics and his dry humour with his interviews….your manager sounds booring said the Mrs whilst listening to him i said love you don’t know the half of it!
A disgrace to call themselves Wolves players and even get paid a wage for last night. Give those hardened soles who followed you down there and sang there hearts out your wages lads because you don’t deserve there support you really dont.
Hang your head in shame Wolves and look forward to trips to Blackpool and Plymouth next year.

It’s very easy to have a knee jerk reaction after such a truly miserable performance but a win at Birmingham would ease the pain.
The FA cup always throws up shocks but the manner in which we lost was unforgiveable, the lack of passion and desire by the players was unbelievable.
I was embarrassed.

Last night was extremely disappointing and depressing, but a lot of people posting in have got very short memories. Sack McCarthy? We’ve been in the prem for 1 other season in the last 26 years, and we sacked the manager then because of moaning fans. Do you really think that sacking the manager that has brought us up is the way ahead?? Do we want another decade of chopping and changing and going nowhere? We’ve got a good chance of staying up under Mick. Wolves’ worst enemy at the moment isn’t McCarthy or Moxey or Morgan, it’s fickle fans who don’t know when they’ve got it good… Get real, and get behind the team when it counts – ie from Sunday onwards. Stop moaning.
What!?
I for one have never wanted rid of any of our managers…(not even Hoddle, at least we passed the ball under Hoddle)
But this must be the only manager weve had, where you can plainly see the formations and team choice is awful.
Why have people like Surman and Castillo on the bench and have no intention of playing them…at all.
So Mick continues to tell his players that they’re good enough to survive in the Premiership – well if that’s his opinion and we get relegated, it’s only one man and his dog’s fault. MM and Clipboard have no idea of tactics – I feel so sorry for the players at times as there is no method and they’re obviously coached by baffoons. We can’t score goals because our team don’t know how to break down opposition because MM and TO’C don’t know either.
SM needs to look now for our next manager and decide whether he does the right thing now or waits until we’re back in the Championship again.

If he thinks the defending was awful with 7 defenders on the pitch can’t wait to see what happens when we only have 4????
Playing players out of position never works unless they are very good players. You may get away with sticking one up front like palace did last night but when you play defenders in attacking roles it doesn’t work ( there are reasons why they are defenders…….BECAUSE THEY CAN’T ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Like I have stated in my previous posts MM managaes the way he used to play ( DEFENSIVE ) He is not tactically aware and is very limited in dealing with today’s players.
If by luck we do stay up he will still need to go because he cannot push the club on any further and we will need a manager who is tactically smarter with better player management skills… We will then find out what real commitment Mr Morgan has for the club with his next appointment.

I think it would have been better to play the youth team as they would have been more up for it. The players Mick put on the park did not look like they were bothered whether we were in the next round or not. Its a sad day when a team like Wolves can’t be bothered.

We won the league with a completely different footballing style and by and large using players in their correct positions.
This year he’s totally changed the winning style/formation and narrowed the pitch and then wonders why SEB hasnt prodcued what he did last season.
The service this season has been awful, its mainly consisted of Doyle tracking back to set himself up.
The service over the last few weeks has been pathetic.
Last night’s game found the new lad trying to pass it every time he got the ball on the left(had he been told to do this?), yet weve all seen the footage of him taking players on down the right wing!

I have to ask ‘what’s the point of us all complaining, moaning, grousing – call it what you like, the club will NOT take any notice at all – BUT – what the club WILL take notice of is this ~ for the next home match, supporters should enter the turnstiles 20 minutes AFTER kick-off and then leave the ground 20 minutes BEFORE the end.
That would send a positive message to all at the club!
- Finally to ‘johnwolf-110′ – you have your opinion, everyone else has theirs and if you don’t like what you see, don’t read it!
If you cannot resist reading it, then perhaps YOU cannot understand the passion shown by other supporters who are not content to see our team humiliated by all and sundry and for a Wolves manager who cannot select an 11 to go out and win a football match!
‘Fickle’ by the way applies particularly to the UK weather, the fans though are not fickle but consistant in their support for the name Wolverhampton Wanderers but not the people involved in running it!

106, Up to the Tranmere game I would have agreed with you, but after that and since I have lost all confidence in MM. The Team which ever he picks does not play the football of last season. This is a very very pool Wolves Team. But he selects them and trains them etc, presumably in the art of shirt pulling when the attacking players have left them for dead,so whose fault is it. We know from his comments before he has no time for fans, he needs to be told by Morgan how imortant they are. I do feel sorry for Hennessey, I think he has been affected by having a nightmare defence in front of him all season.
From the start of the season everything McCarthy has done has been Tactically Inept.
He made The pitch smaller and brought in a long throw-in player. That did not last long.
He Continually plays players out of position, just to have them on the pitch, because they are his Favorites. He does not Buy or Loan any better players because he might have to play them instead of a favorite.
Moxey is just thinking of his fat Bonus at the end of the season.Thats why we did not splash out in Jan. I could go on but i wont.
NO EARLY BIRD FOR ME UNTILL McCARTHY AS GONE.

IF we go down this year we need to have a long hard look at ourselves and I’m afraid the axe should fall on Moxey. After 10 years at the club and two shots at the Prem he needs to take responsibility.

It is more than understadable that Wolves’ fans are more than livid. I repeat that the players are what MM selected, surely the weaknesses of both Berra and Craddock were evident last season,Berra should be hauled over the coals for his blatent shirt pulling.
Before critising the new winger, yet to remember his name, even Rooney cannot walk into a team for the first time and look good, at least he has style but then the Wolves coaches will get hold of him and you have all seen what happens then.
Milijas is not a rough and tough digger of the ball out of the ruck, that is for other work horses, his job is distribution. Going back in time, Eddie Clamp dug the ball out and then gave it to Broadbent. Man Utd, Nobby Styles dug and Charlton played havoc..

I truly like the concept of locking the players in the dressing room and shouting at them.
Why can’t we put McCarthy in the middle of the field and have 28,000+ shout at him?
Nothing to say about the team or peformance as the result shouted it. This is still all about money MR. MORGAN! if you want a player get enough dough out to buy one. I don’t want to hear Moxey do the frustrating situation rubbish. He could have shelled out for the player(s) required. Why didn’t he? simple! He didn’t want to. See Crystal Palace next season in the Championship.

It doesn’t matter how much money you offer for/to players to sign, if they don’t want to come they won’t. The big question is why, and I feel the answer lies with the manager. Do players really want to come to Wolves and play for him – I’m not sure they do.
Fair enough the league is far more important, but the way we played last night and the way we have been playing with this 4-5-1 formation just isn’t working.
I’m not sure getting of Mick now would be the right thing to do as I do think we’ll stay up. But if I’m honest, regardless of which league we’re in next season, I can’t see Mick being we us.

Not what i expected and no don’t sack him now, give him until the end of the season to see if he can get the team out of the doldrums.

What you can’t see is that all the moaning and name calling won’t change anything because you don’t have any authority within the football club, niether can I – but I can do one thing and that is support my team-NOT DRAG IT’S NAME THROUGH THE MUD.
We are Wolves………your not.

149 comments, and only a few if any in support of Mick.
How can Morgan keep him in charge now?

I’m new to this … but I am at the Mol on a regular basis – and at away games too.
If the ‘reserve squad’ can’t hack it, what about the youngsters we have – Mendez-Laing etc?
They can’t do any worse, and they’ll have pace and enthusiasm, and will try their hearts out for the fans. Bring one or two of them in; even off the bench.
No point persevering with those who aren’t up to it. Even if we go doan, at least using the youngsters will give us momentum for coming back up.
Come on you Wolves .. and especially you young Wolves.

Everyone involved with the club will have been embarressed by last night performance. I could barely believe how bad they were.
I can summarise whats wrong with this Wolves team very quickly.
1. After Doyle, NO decent strikers (with any confidence or pace)
2. Midfield. NO creativity or goal threat or pace. We played Henry, Mancienne and Foley within the five in Midfield (3 defensively minded players) vs a Championship team!
3. Defence. Stubborn (usually), but lacking composure and pace.
We have no threat, no pace. We just have to hope we have a bit more than three other teams.
Sorry to be so bleak but I’m getting really worried. We have to outFIGHT other teams now, and really want it, its the ONLY way. We needed signings in Jan.

I would like to express caution on some of the comments made about Steve Morgan. In my opinion he is by a country mile our best realistic bet at achieving some sort of success.I personally would not like to see him just walk away.Think about it we could do a lot worse.I have expressed my concerns about Jez Moxey for years now,and I am finished with supporting the retention of Mick McCarthy after he walked out before the transfer deadline to do private television work. But I do really believe we need to be supportive of Steve Morgan, otherwise we will really be in trouble.

you put your right full up ….your left wing back ….your backs in the middle and shake ‘em all about…miss the transfer window …say they wouldn’t come….that’s what it’s all about
HiHo Wolverampton

alot of u come on here saying you want MM to stay etc… bu the bottom line is:
1. He plays players out of positions,
2. He still doesn’t know his best line up
constantly changing the team
3. Tactics have been nothing short of naive
4. No midfield threat..no good blaming SEB ..
At the end of the day, we attract rubbish .. He has taken us as far as he can…
Time for a change and take connor with you , along with Bristol Wolf

So Mick wants to give the players yet another ear-bashing.I think he’s talking on deaf ears.
Fortunately for Wolves there are other medoiocre teams in the Premier and who knows,we could stay up.
I would only hope that after this season, drastic changes are made.We can’t carry on like this!

ok ok put it this way if worse comes to worse
and we do go down who’s got a better chance of coming back up 1st time to try again ?
wolves
if westham or porthsmouth go down they will end up like leeds leicester wimbledon forest norwich southampton charlton
if bolton or hull go down they will end up like middlesbourgh watford derby ipswich
if we go down we wont have to slash the wages morgan will invest to make sure we go back up
so what have morgan and mccarthy done so bad
if have a great chance of staying up pompey hull down last place between us bolton wigan westham burnley and i think we are atleast better than burnley ? think it through atleast we have a chance of staying up this time unlike when we was in the prem with dave jones no investment at all. we have 15 games left 8 of them against team in bottom half of prem let stick together and support mick dont make his job harder than it is moan at the end of the year if we go down
