I can cope insists Wolves signing

Wolves’ new boy Adlene Guedioura insists he has the big-match quality and temperament to cope with the might of Liverpool.

The powerful midfielder, who signed on loan from Charleroi for the rest of the season, had a reputation for his thundering tackles in Belgium.

But the 24-year-old, who has been included in boss Mick McCarthy’s squad against the Reds with fellow Charleroi capture Geoffrey Mujangi Bia, insists he has the nous to face the Reds.

Guedioura said: “It’s a really good challenge. Coming up against the big teams will be difficult but I’d like to think I can play well against them. I’ve watched the Premier League on television so many times, right from when I was young to now.

“It’s been a dream of mine to play here and now hopefully the dream will come true. I hope I can show the club and the supporters I can play here and make an impact.

“My style is to try to get about the pitch and be competitive. But I also like to play football when I can as well.”

McCarthy believes Guedioura will bring many tools to the squad and confirmed both players are in contention to face the Reds.

The manager said: “He’s very mobile, technically very good and he’s a competitor. Both the new lads are in the squad.”

Guedioura realises few fans would have heard of either signing.

But the all-action six footer insists they are determined to succeed and win permanent deals.

He said: “Hopefully we’ll both show it’s a good move and help Wolves win some matches. It’s my first time playing in England, so it’s good for me to have Geoffrey here who I know from Charleroi.

“We got on well there and it’s good we’ve both moved to the same club. For the moment I’m here for six months.

“But I hope I can show the manager and the club I’m good enough to stay for longer.”

Guedioura has an impressive sporting pedigree, with his mum having been a Spanish international basketball player while dad Nacer was an Algerian football international striker.

He said: “My whole family certainly liked their sport, especially football. It’s been a big passion and I’ve been playing since I was very young – I love the game.”
