Wolves the underdogs for McCarthy
Monday 25th January 2010, 9:30AM GMT.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy admits the chances of hosting Villa in the FA Cup fifth round are seen by many as reduced.
The team face a replay at Selhurst Park on February 2, following Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
He said: “I know people will say our best chance has gone, because we were at home and it will be tough at Selhurst Park. But we drew at Everton, beat Spurs, drew at Stoke, and won at Palace last season.
“They’ll probably be expecting to beat us when we go down there.”
Saturday’s tie kicked off six games in 19 days, with the West Ham away game having to be re-arranged for a second time as it was to be played on the same night as the replay.
But McCarthy has welcomed it, saying: “Another game won’t do us any harm and I don’t see it getting in the way, because we want to stay in the FA Cup.
“We should have played the West Ham game. It’s probably a distraction to them as well as us.”
