Wolves sign Charleroi’s Guedioura
Monday 25th January 2010, 10:45AM GMT.
Wolves have completed their second signing of the January transfer window with the arrival of French midfielder Adlene Guedioura.
Described as an all-action midfielder, the 6ft tall 24-year-old has signed on a six-month transfer from the same Belgian club Charleroi as winger Geoffrey Mujangi Bia with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
Chief executive Jez Moxey said: “He plays so much like an British-type all-action midfielder that he’s known for tackling almost too hard – people at his club find it difficult to get their heads around.
“He has such an incredible engine.”
Guedioura has an interesting background. The son of an Algerian football international father and a Spanish international basketball playing mum, he speaks three to four different languages.
The capture of Guedioura comes after Wolves refused to get involved in a bidding war with Birmingham for Villa midfielder Craig Gardner.
But the club are still working behind the scenes on their No 1 target, Hull winger Stephen Hunt.

Another cheap option, no ambition
Report abuse
agree’d…..i like to put myself availiable as new signing, i feel i have the relevent experience as i have played for pensnett wanderers, kewford eagles and quarry bank jaguars…..i’m quietly confident of getting a call from mm pretty soon…..i’m not sure the club have the same ambitions as myself but promise to try my hardest for the fans if picked…….this is a pointless signing, rather save the money for next year than sign nobody’s from the chipperfield circus league
Report abuse
you know nothing about the lad…give him a chance Arsenal fans moaned about Vierra he was not bad was he..or as i beleive your not a real Wolves fan
Report abuse
This post had me in stitches :-) Have you had the call yet?
I am a season ticket holder in the Billy Wright and fail to see the Prem experience in this signing that we need. I agree it looks like another signing on the cheap like last time around. However if it comes off and we stay in business because of not trying to buy Prem survival it will be a job well done by Super Mick and Big Jez. BUT if we go down with this policy it should be Bye Bye Mick and don’t come back!
Pleased we have another signing, but on top of these two would like to see hunt/john and beattie/roberts.
If nothing else i think these signing show intent which might make us seem a more attractive prospect.
Not much time left!
YES IT SHOWS INTENT…SHOWS WE INTEND TO BUILD A SQUAD FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT SEASON.
HOW ARE THESE TWO GOING TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE, THEY’LL BE EATEN ALIVE IN THE PREMIER AS IT’S WAY BEYOND THE LEVEL THE’RE USED TOO!
Crystal Ball working a treat then? Tell me is this the same one that told you we wouldn’t get promoted/win the league last year?
Suppose when we signed Kightly that was showing intent on building a squad for the conference then.
Get real his been scouting there for 18 months he’ll know if they are capable or not and if it don’t work out we’re not committed to them. Good deal all round!
Oh that’s the same scouting system that identified Halford, Castillo, etc, etc. Players that MacCarthy signed but now can’t get anywhere near the starting line up.
The frustration of most fans is that we were promised Premiership experience and that hasn’t happened and these signings along with numerous others have not improved our team at all.
Someone posted yesterday that if our team from last season could play the team for this season then last season’s team would win 4 – 0 and I’m inclined to agree. This team lack confidence, pace, ideas and in some cases just plain footballing brains.
Let’s face it our two best players from last season Foley and SEB both look devoid of confidence and the blame for this must lay solely at the manager’s door. Foley is no winger and SEB needs to be removed from the pressure of the firing line and given time to recover his touch in the reserves. The longer his goal drought goes on the more his confidence is going to be affected. Bottom line MM is no man manager, he does not know what is best team is and he is tactically inept.
Same old Wolves, same old Wolves. Always settling for second best. Signing a bunch of nobody’s.
We we’re promised premiership experience in the summer by the three M’s. So where is it?
Karl Henry’s replacement then?
PREMIER EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!
Henry replacement? Fingers crossed.
If we get someone who can play the holding midfield position correctly it will change the whole team IMO.
Imagine someone who pressurises other midfields high up the pitch.
Imagine a midfielder who moves the ball on quickly.
Imagine a midfielder who can have it short off the centre halves and start our attacks.
Imagine a midfielder who sees a forward pass.
Imagine a midfielder who’s in the opposition faces (and moans at the ref a bit)
Imagine a midfielder who can hit a ball on the edge of the box.
Whether this guy is that player? Well let’s dream. I know who can’t do any of those things.
Although I agree that this isn’t the kind of signing that we need, why do people have to constantly have a go at Karl Henry? At times, some Wolves fans should be ashamed of themselves. I suppose you’re one of the fans who thought Freddy Eastwood brilliant?
If by saying a player is not good enough and cannot play the position correctly I am classed as “having a go” then I stand accused.
Karl does not play the position correctly. Maybe that is due to the manager’s instructions. Maybe that is due to coaching.
His passing ability is below the required standard. A lot of people state that on this site.
I also feel that the midfield play goes on around him rather than through him.
If we got a busy midfielder in (a continuity player always available and moving it on, little one twos, wall passes…) we would drastically change as a side. Is there anyone at the club like that? I don’t think so. I wish we had Forest’s midfield pair!
But a quite a good question for a 10 year old Jay 10. Good lad.
Well if ” a lot of people state that on this site” it can only be true then!
The point was, why does everything have to come back to Karl Henry? If he was the biggest problem that we had to deal with in the team, then we wouldn’t be in too bad a state at all. But, we have many areas of the team that need putting right first. Let’s hope that Andy Keogh gets fit soon, so that he can share the blame!
Did you notice that I managed to get through this without making petty little comments designed to be cheap personal insults? Maybe you should try it, that way I would be able to take your comments more seriously.
The reason this particular signing (not “everything”)comes back to Karl Henry is because he plays the same position and Mick happens to have built a style of play reminiscent of and built around his ever present captain.
The points made in my post are constructive critisicms. The best you can answer is “You ought to be ashamed of yourself”.
Why not try and respond and dispute the original, non offensive football points made rather than generalise with no point to make. That’s the purpose of a forum like this.

But hey he knows what he’s talking about????
Yeah right!!!
Karl Henry has been our best player this season by a mile & idiots like you come on here & have a pop at him??? Nonsense.
It will be the same idiots who will slag him off and call him a greedy big – time Charlie when he gets sold to a proper premiership club in the next transfer window by one who is just playing at it.
But then again you have your right to your opinion as you are a loyal supporter & can remember one of older, more iconic players, bet you were at Chorley as well, with the other 20,000……………….

On the Saturday recently when most games were called off, on Sky Sports News they were talking about Karl Henry, both Merson and Nicolas described him as a “player’s player” and Merson qualified it by saying that most fans will not recognise his value to the team because they tend to ball watch. Exactly what I have said on here and other forums. I think there is a 50/50 split amongst Wolves fans regarding Henry and very little middle ground. Some of his detractors should watch what he does when he hasn’t got the ball, something my father taught me from an early age when watching the game live. I personally value his contribution to the team, I’m not saying that we could not find better there but he’s probably the best we have at the moment, and I’m in good company if the likes of Merson and Nicolas agree…!!!
So what is it that KH does that is effective for the team????????
Watch any Wolves game if you are a non Wolves footy fan and try to pick out the captain? His body language says it all. Oh for a Wright, a Slater, a Bailey, a Hughes or an Ince to lead us when we lose our way!!!!
I think that says it all.
Karl Henry is most appreciated when he hasn’t got the ball.
I agree there is a lot of dirty work to be done. But the centre of midfield is an area where you should be touching the ball and available for the pass all over the field.
Karl Henry is sitting in front of the back four but cannot distribute a pass. So therefore he needs to get into the oppostion and harry them. He is doing neither. Karl Henry should be playing in front of Milijas and harrying and hassling! YES Milijas should be the holding midfielder picking the passes and seeing most of the ball. Who said you should be winning the ball as a holding midfielder? Keeop the ball and you aint got to win it so often.
Milijas as a holding midfielder sitting in front of the back four spraying it around and involved. Henry hunting around causing the opposition grief.
you need to understand what a holding midfielder does before saying anything
Report abuse
GB ‘S HEAD I thought you were related to Chicken George, but now I know it must be John Lennon.
Sorry GB but I am not sure you understand what a holding midfielder does!
He protects that back four. How can he do that if he is pressurising the opposition midfielders further up the pitch. That job shoud be done by the attacking midfielder, the strikers and the wingers. If they fail to win the ball then the holding midfielder os the one who wins the ball before it gets to the defence.
I agree that Henry could move the ball more quickly but he is not the one to pick the pass to set up the attack. Henry’s role in our team is simple – win the ball and then give it to Milijas or Jones or whoever MM picks as our creative midfielder. And in the role of holding midfielder Henry is the best at the club. He wins more tackles than the rest of the team put together and without him in the team our goals against column would be reacing double what it is now so IMAGINE THAT!
The fools who were on here yesterday saying that Mancienne should be our holding midfielder must be in cuckoo land. He is powder puff and you can not count on both hands the amount of times he got knocked off the ball on Saturday (yes I was there before anyone questions my commitment to Wolves!)

Thats what Reading fans said when they signed Kevin Doyle!

i think we should hold judgement untill we have seen him really, i mean i thought that when we signe jarvis but that turned out to be good business. however i really hope we manage to sign hunt, at least then we know what we are getting and at least we can get exited obout one of these signings.
Now my friends in France, I say friends I mean people I do business with from time to time assure me this guy is a Prem player! I still believe that for us to move forward we must get Hunt or a player of that quality as well as a striker, brilliant to see us with Roberts on the radar, I had a chat with him at an event in the summer and he wasn’t that warm about the idea I think he still smarts from the way he felt he was treated (so did his aunt and Mum!) But he did say he felt there was maybe unfinished business and that you never know! If we got Shorey/Bale or again something similar too that would represent a window as good as we could hope for.
Totally agree with your comments except that I would not go for Bale, as he has hardly been on a winning team for Spurs in the Premiership. I see Keane is lining up Naylor from Celtic. He is an option and has now got Champions League experience.
Hopefully this player could be the real deal but it is another gamble into the unknown. We must get two experienced Premiership players in definitely!
Definitely and listen before people harp on about ambition and money, I don’t think we should break the bank, we could say go out and spend £60 mil on proven players but still go down. And these days it’s a short road to near extinction, but we could go and spend 10 or 15 mil on 2 or maybe 3 players of the required quality to give ourselves a great chance and not leave us financialy in the mire and worst case scenario you sell those players for profit if relegated anyway!
Are you joking about Naylor? The only left back I can think who is any worse than him is Elokobi! I really hope we don’t get him back. If he can’t get in Mowbrays joke of a Celtic team that demonstrates just how bad he is! NO THANK YOU
Report abuse
Lee Naylor? get a grip and do us a favour and support the Blues.
Lee Naylor was one of the players of the season under Hoddle. You could do us all a favour and go and support the Tesco’s. Being a mod you could fit in nicely as the best dressed in Sandwell town!
Sorry Winslow, but he’s been playing in Belgium, so how would your French mates be able to say this guy is a Premiership standard player?
That’s like me saying to a French bloke, ‘That Jock McHaggis who plays for St. Johnstone is definitely a Ligue 1 class player!’
It’s a league in a different country that they’re only ever going to keep an occasional eye on as it’s not as good a standard as their own league.
I hope he’s a good player though, for the sake of Mr Moxey’s bank balance.
Because the leagues are very close in quality actually, Liege would probably go close to winning the french title the French play close attention to the Belgian league, and most games are televised in France. Just cos you don’t watch it doesn’t mean others don’t. Having spent a fair bit of time going to and from France and knowing a fair few people there I feel in a position to make this comment of course if you spend lots of time there and beg to differ I will take that on board!
Not forgetting that a certain Arsene Wenger has used the Belgium league to blood his youngsters from Africa/ Europe – (on season in the Belgium league and they get a Belgium passport)for years!
Hi Winslow,
thanks for getting back to me. You obviously know more about the Belgian league than I do, so I’ll bow to your more informed opinion on this matter.
It just seemed to me a bit of a wierd thing to say, for the reason I posted above.
Like I say, I hope your friends and associates are right and he’s a good player, otherwise I can see the revolt against the 3 M’s happening if you don’t beat the drop.
Hi Ned,
I hope so too. Time as ever will tell. Usual makes a good point that many top sides in Europe send players on loan in Belgium and a lot of these guys are stars of the Future so its a decent league. To be fair Liege battered Liverpool and Everton
Report abuse
Another signing which shows our intent of playing championship football next season. Depressing.
Have you been scouting this guy? How can you make that statement? He may not be good enough to make a difference, or he may be. But lets not write him off before he’s even kicked a ball for us.
Yeah spot on, I hate that when the news came trough about the young lad some of the vile garbage written on here was shamefull, just hope that the players aren’t aware of this. The same idiots speaking before they know will be the first ones drooling if they come good and will ”forget” what they had said before.
Where is the premiership experience we were all promised? How can fans be happy with another signing of this quality? The guy may well be a world beater, but unless he has an immediate impact, he is just being primed for Championship football next season.
NOBODY’S WRITING HIM OFF, JUST SAYING IN OUR CURRENT POSITION WE DESPERATELY NEED PROVEN PREMIER LEAUGE PLAYERS.
So when we sign Messi tomorrow you’ll be moaning (actually I expect you would)
Correction… listenening to your moaning is depressing, get a grip of yourself and support your team!
Had you heard of Patric Viera before he came on the scene at Arsenal… nope! McCarthy is obviously worried about spending cash on over rated ‘experienced’ premiership players, this is the next best thing. Worth a gamble in my opinion, if it doesnt work he can just send him packing to Belgium in 6 months time!
Could be an interesting game tomorrow night if he gives the two new lads a starting place.
Very disappointing again if this is the height of our ambition.
We need Premiership experience now not gambles on unknowns! Our squad is big enough on quantity – we need established quality!
so who would you sign Messi hes got no prem experience either. i hate armchair fans.
please please just stay away we do not need you.
We need the club to tell us NOW which division they intend to be in next season. Until they do I suggest nobody renews their early bird invitations because if they think that we will happily hand over Premier League money if they are happy to let us go down they must be joking. If that is the intention it will be clear that the club is being operated solely as a money making enterprise by Morgan, and the supporters can therefore make an informed decision whether or not to continue to contribute to his wealth.
Absolutely agree with this comment. If the club were honest with the fans for once at the start of the season and state their real intentions,we would stick by them, but when they promise the earth to justify higher ticket prices, thats what really gets fans annoyed.
I was ”happy” supporting us at the edge of existance, I would be ”happy” supporting us whatever division, of course I wouldn’t be happy if we went down but I’ve supported the club up and down the divisions it is my club I chose it and it chose me, and nothing will ever change that. I am not knocking your right to choose and certainly not knocking your opinion as you deserve one for every penny you have put in the club and every second of joy you have experienced and every second of heart break you have endured. Regardless of what Mr Morgan and co, will or will not do this club is OURS and will always be OURS, and I will not give up the fight no matter how frustrating, infuriating and at times humiliating (United away) it is. Don’t mark me for a happy clapper I am NOT, I don’t believe MM is the right man, I don’t believe we have done what we are capable of on and off the pitch so far this season, but it ain’t over yet, and when the whistle blows on Sat and the black country roar reaches fever pitch under the most famous floodlights in England Liverpool WILL be in a game and Hull will lie in wait for their beating! Mr Morgan cheque book out please, you will not be disappointed in what this club can achieve if you back us the way we back the club!!!!
Its pretty obvious that any club intends to be in the highest division possible. Even if morgan is using the club as a money making enterprise, where better to make the money than in a league where the club can earn more money off tv rights alone in 1 season than they would in many seasons in the championship. I for one am glad that as a club we are being sensible with our money as going into administration would be far worst than getting relegated. Just because these players are cheap we dont know if they are good or not. Hunt would be a good signing though.
It should be obvious but it doesn’t seem to be. Whatever you may think of Mick, he’s no mug and the results affect him in terms of future employment more than anyone else. It surely would have been obvious to him that we needed better players than we have got to survive in the Prem, and he is clearly working within a budget set by Morgan, who again is no mug. A bit more openness to the fans, who lets face it pay a huge amount of money to support the club, is all I’m asking for. I honestly can’t decide whether I prefer to be winning most weeks in the Championship or struggling in the Prem but if the club was honest in explaining its intentions we would all know where we stand.
Listen I get what you are saying and I have felt that before especially after the United farce and the Birmingham debacle, but lets be honest, the club want to do as well as they can and we will probably see more relegations and promotions in our lifetimes yet much the same as we have for the preceeding 5 decades, thats football! It’s a funny old game!!! But i wouldn’t change it or MY team for the world.
once again the cat is amongst the pidgeons so called supporters that only have one priority—-moan–moan–moan–lets go back 15 years i was there week in week out as i am now home and away do we really want to go back down that road support means support trough thick and thin and if you cant grasp that simple stay at home—–100% of fans and i mean fans would have taken out of the drop zone in january but still lets go and pay over the odds 4 vaery average players who want 2 leave in there bentlys when it goes wrong—–
Report abuse
Two points:
First, in 03-04 we were promised that we’d make a fist of it – and we were let down. I suspect we’re being let down again, but less so – and only because the talk in the summer was so extravagant. Either way, if you renewed after relegation in 04, why wouldn’t you renew this time ?
Second, most of our relegation rivals don’t seem to have brought in anyone at all (Pompey, Hull, Burnley and West Ham) and Wigan and Bolton have brought in one loan each (and they’re not household names). Maybe we lack ambition, but we’re not alone.
Could we please sign a good defender, that is the main position we need to get sorted if we are to stay in the premier league.
I know the two players we have signed hardly set the world alight, but they will be playing for our club and therefore deserve our support, lets give them a chance they could turn out to be gems.

Bookies have Hunt at 1/25 to still be at Hull and 8/1 to be a Wolves player, at the close of the window So highly unlikely that he will be coming our way.
As captain of Charleroi and with a decent goalscoring record for a midfielder Guedioura could be a good addition.
Bit worried that we are signing more midfielders when it is blatantly obvious a Goalscoring striker and a quality left back are urgently required.Sky reporting bid of £1 million has been made for Jason Roberts
Report abuse
You may have not picked up reports in Valetta that Adam Pearson is absolutely determined to reduce his £8 – 9 million wage bill this window AND ( most importantly ) he admits his fringe players are not attracting any bids. Where else does he save money ?
Tangoman is still talking about bringing more players in. Surely Mido and Zaki is just papertalk, even Hull aren’t that stupid…or are they ?
So….
8/1 ? could be worth a flutter, but, unlikely before saturday. Let’s see if there are any reports of Hull leaving Hunt out of their weekend squad.
This one is not over yet

We’re doomed. And we’re doomed if we accept that Jason Roberts is of sufficient quality to help us stay up too. The fact that we were seriously considering Rob Hulse recently says it all – we’re not buying to stay up, we’re preparing for the drop in the first Premier League season in aeons where a little gentle cash-splashing would keep us up. Sigh… Still, as long as the Newhampton keeps doing hot pork baps on match day, I’ll be happy…
Report abuse
Sorry mate were you in the offices when they were discussing transfer targets? cos I wasn’t and I don’t even remember anyone remotely connected with the club mentioning Hulse, other clubs had made enquiries we had not. Jase Roberts is exactly what we need in terms of experience, quality and price/wages.
re jason roberts.
living in blackburn as i do, i have it on good authority that there are about 20,000 rovers fans, that would gladly take the day off work to drive roberts down to wolves,if that is the quality you think we need your very much mistaken. just have a look at his scoring record for rovers its 1 in4 and he is very injury prone.
I’ll start with a footballers phrase ”at the end of the day…” opinions are like Bum holes everyone has got one!

Jason Roberts is a very good player, big, strong and quick and has established a career as a premier league player. He could be a great partner for Doyle. Nicky Shorey and Steven Hunt would round off some great business.
Good luck to Matty Hill at QPR.

I don’t blame the wolves board for not getting in to a bidding war for players.
Let’s face it’s obviously that Mr Morgan and co. are not prepared to pay astronomical wages or transfer fees. But i can’t help wonder if he was chairman at his beloved liverpool if he would be running the club in a similar fashion.!
My sentiments entirely. He would have had some good football people in the background when he was trying to get Liverpool. Why oh why didn’t he bring them to molineux.
We have to give the player a chance, but its Not what was promised by Morgan/Moxey ?
Just watched a youtube video of him. He couldn’t keep the ball under control. Looks like a great signing… Why don’t we pay big money that were meant to have for quality and experience. Just remember we can’t pay big wages….
Time will tell if the boy is any good. Looked at him on youtube, but can’t really tell a lot from that. A difficult window for Wolves, but remember where Stoke were this time last year, and one good signing changed their season around. Let’s hope that signing arrives in the next few days.
I do have some sympathy for the management though. Firstly, it is extremely hard to bring in proven players to a club like Wolves in its first season back in the top flight. Secondly, financial judgements are necessary. If the club over spends and get relegated, years of doom can follow. For this look at Hull, if they go down this season they will end up in administration.
A P.S. here. I do hope that Roberts doesn’t come, I really don’t think he would make the difference, however I would welcome Beattie and Hunt.

To reiterate an earlier comment, we seem very quick to write players off! although i fully agree that the 3 M’s did promise experience! but i think its more about what we lack in certain positions that is the issue…mostly wingers (Jarvis has showed his lack of real quality. and Foley midfield…?)and centre midfield (i like Henry, Milijas to hit and miss!). So hopefully these boys might do a job for us, they look like they can do a bit so lets just see shall we before adopting the typical Wolves negative mentality.
although i wish him luck, just another nobody really isn’t he! Why can’t we spend a bit of money and get someone in who will actually make a difference to the team! He probably won’t even start for goodness sake! Must go and buy Hunt from Hull! He is Premiership quality and we need some of that because we don’t have it yet! Getting very worried though!
No way is hunt signing for wolves.
Getting Desperate now !!!
just signing any old Tom dick or Harry just to make them look good.
didnt want to get in a bidding war for gardener !!!! thats great thinking Jez, walk away and sign someone who nobody else wants, Beatie didnt even want to sign for us because he didnt like what was put on the table..
Don’t write him off before He gets a chance. There are quality players out there, maybe He is one???
I’m really pleased he speaks 3-4 languages.I would be rather more pleased if he spoke and understood English.

Steady now. My initial reaction was who but I agree how can you judge someone until you have seen them play. Hope we do get Hunt though.
It was said on Saturday night on WM.
Quantity not Quality. We have a Squad (Except Doyle, Hannermann. Mancenni)who are just average, and have to perform at 150% to get
anywhere near Prem Standard. Mr Morgan, and
Mr Moxey have Lied and Lied to the supporters,
and should be told in no uncertain terms.
Mr Morgan only supporter,s his Ego, he will not spend any money, he needs it to backup
Redrow. Also note he bought old wolves land
a little worrying.
I hope both new signings turn out to be good,
you have to remember – To date our TWO best signings have been the goalkeeper Hanneman and Doyle – REMEMBER THEY WERE OK PLAYERS IN AN AVERAGE READING SIDE THAT GOT RELEGATED.
That should tell everyone something about our present squad!!!

not again ring any bells of the 2003 season no intent in staying up

For Sunderland now read Charleroi!Once again Im totally underwhelmed, seems like we are preparing for life back in the Championship.
makes me laugh how you all think we should sign proven premier players…they don’t want to come to us until we prove we are premiership by staying in this league then we may attract them, and with the wages we pay most would have to take a drop in money to join us!!!!
we do need a striker to partner doyle and a left back!!!
so maybe we should break the wage structure on a striker on loan until the end of the season who will get us the goals we need to stay up
Report abuse
Hill clinches QPR move
Queens Park Rangers have signed Wolves full-back Matt Hill on loan until the end of the season
Report abuse
I have just looked up the Belgium league on and noticed the team we have signed 2 players from this transfer window are 4th bottom. Maybe shows the lack of ambition from the 3M’s that we have had to go to a poor Belgium league to save our season.
Get in O’Hara, Curtis Davies, Shorey, Hunt and Roberts and our season could be saved.
Look where Hull are, and we want Hunt. Don’t think you can use team position as a yardstick.
I agree but there is a huge gap between the Belgium league and premier league. A team 4th from bottom in the Belgium league is probably a league 1 standard and we’ve signed 2 to try and save our season.
I take your point, Wolves Army.
Sounds like the next Jesus ‘The Bulldozer’ Sanjuan!
Give him a chance though, sounds decent enough, but would still like to see us get a striker in to play with Doyle!
As an addition to my last post – the guy has never even played for Charleroi! He doesn’t even have any experience in the top division in bloody Belgium!
Apologies to any Belgian football fans who might be reading…
Report abuse
Are you joking? 24 appearences 2009 not including cup games.
He hasn’t scored any goals this season I think you are mistaking the french word for goal for appearances. Someone made the same mistake with Bia last week. They both played regularly for Charleroi. The immediate negativity around here is appalling, no-one has seen this kid play, yet already he’s dreadful.
I don’t know anything about this guy. Hopefully he’ll be good but I don’t hold my breath based on McCarthys other signings of late.
How was Segundo Castillo described when he arrived? sounds similar. Where is he now and what’s his role at the club. In my eyes, the games he’s played, he looks useful with a good passing range but somehow can’t get a look in over Henry.
Also, the description of this guy sounds a bit like Nigel Quashie, and as Henry is undroppable, can you remember how rubbish our midfield looked on the odd occasion those two played together last year?
I’m sorry but a centre midfielder of this guy’s description is not what we need. As for Jason Roberts, he’s nothing to get excited about and if it happens, it shows the real ambition of the club.
My guess is Morgan bought wolves when he was bored after he sold his business. Once his old business was available again, he reinvested his money in that and now its his main priority.
The guy is clearly not prepared to spend the cash required to be a force in the premiership. Football isn’t a profitable business, it’s a rich persons hobby. You roll the dice and go for it, it’s not a profit making machine. I’d much rather him sell us to a Russian or Arab billionaire if he has the chance.
sell to a russian or arab, no thanks mate look at pompey.
Er…you can keep your Russian and Arab billionaire’s away from molineux. Thanks but no thanks.

This just goes to show what little ambition steve morgan has.We have been totally ripped off by the club and it’s about time we showed the club just how unhappy we are!.
McCarthy Out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moxey Out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Morgan – Show some ambition or clear off
Report abuse
How unhappy WE are? Don’t think you speak for all the Wolves fans. Go give your “support” to a different team. You are a tool.

I will still re-new my season ticket next season because Im a real supporter, muppet mick out, I would class you as a FAN, only happy when we are storming the championship ay?
If you feel so ripped off, why not save your money and stay home? You won’t be missed. Another armchair manager who hasn’t a clue. Jog on.
Meh,
if you read, I think Joker is agreeing with you, so I hope that comment wasn’t directed towards them. And I agree anyway, I back my team no matter what, and i will also re-new mine no matter what division we are in, like any other “supporter” and not “fan” I bleed gold n black!!
Believe, I read it it differently, and apologise if I am wrong.
Sick to death of the pessimism amongst some Wolves fans/supporters (I don’t differentiate between the two – it’s just semantics) Writing off a player without seeing him even kick a ball is pathetic. I’m no happy-clapper and question MM’s decisions; his signings pre-season haven’t all paid off and I will be disappointed if we don’t get some proven players in – but the transfer window ain’t shut yet! Even with the players we have I still believe we have the quality to stay up. Support the team, support the manager and enjoy the Premier league for the first of (hopefully) many seasons!
Brilliant. Ok, we can all wait until Feb 2nd to pass judgement on how well the 3M’s have done during the window, but the signs are not good.
We won’t pay the transfers.
We won’t pay the wages.
We won’t stay up.
Maybe just maybe the last two signings will prove to be shrewd pieces of business by Big Mick. They have been scouted and play in positions where we need more numbers and more quality. let’s hope these are positive additions. How about a left back? Ward is ok but I dont think big George is up to it at championship level let alone premier league.
I know people are pessimistic about these players and seem to think that they are either a cheap option or of insufficient quality for our current challenge of retaining our top flight status but let’s be realistic. With the best will in the world if we dont have the financial clout of other clubs why try to follow their example. We need to cut our cloth according to our means. I do not want to see wolves spending money they do not have on players transfer fees or wages. I remember how we collapsed in the early eighties and whatever else happens I do not want a repeat of that. If the long term financial security of this great club means we miss out in the short term then I will accept it.
As I understand it Man u are 700 million in debt and are paying 10% interest annually. That means they pay 70 million in interest each year or to put it another way they repay £192000 EVERY DAY just to stand still. West Ham are 100 million in debt, pompey are dying on their arse because of debt, and while we could afford to be relegated, I think the consequences for those two clubs would be catastrophic if they end up in the championship. Why are they in such debt? They spent money on player transfers and wages that they could not afford and that’s a lesson we need to learn.
I still remain hopeful that we can stay up and build on what we have achieved so far but if we are relegated I think we are in a much stronger position than other relegation candidates.
Cmon Wolves lets get a win at home against a shaky liverpool team and follow it up with a win at hull. We can do this!
Great post fella, some people need perspective can you imagine what these guys would be saying if we were in Pompey or Hulls position? Or Leeds, Charlton, Norwich, Barnsley, Bradford, Swindon, Ipswhich, Southampton, Sheff Weds, Oldham, Derby etc… Take a look at that list boys are we really doing that bad???? Look at the likes of Oxford United, Luton and Cambridge I remember some titanic battles against those Dion Dublin and Bully vying for leading goalscorer in the old second division.
Yes it is good to be financially stable, but surely investing a further 10/12 million on Quality additions to bolster our survival prospects is a price worth paying and will be covered by Sky payments.
Two loan signings therefore no initial substantial outlay means we have money to bring in the right players to keep us up.
I agree and have said that in an earlier post, I think we can afford to ”risk” £10-15 Mil (and still be well in the black) and give ourselves a decent chance and if the worst happens we won’t lose money on those players.
Nobody is asking the club to spend the sort of money that got West Ham, Portsmouth and Leeds into debt but if we had spent the money we have already shelled out (ex the money on Doyle) plus a bit more on say three quality players (I know it isn’t easy to get them to come but you don’t know unless you try) instead of 6 or 7 Championship class players we might have had a more realistic chance of staying up. Also all sensible clubs have a clause in contracts to reduce players’ wages if the club gets relegated so why should we go the same way as those other clubs?
We thought it would be easy to come back last time we went down and look how long it took.
A bit more ambition and we may have done the same as Birmingham.
Some people are, I have read some ridiculous comments someone even said that at least Leeds had some great entertainment!!!!!!!!!!! Wonder if they see it that way.
TFW.
We’ve been through all of these arguments on our pages. Common financial sense is never popular with the spend, spend, spend brigade, I’ve even been accused of being Jeremy Peace.
The clause in the contracts is a good point, again I think all of our players have them. The thing is that top players won’t sign them because they don’t need to.
Players like Hunt will wait til the last minute to see who else comes in for him because Wolves are ‘new boys’ and he will see them as having no better chance than Hull of staying up.
Someone else talked of getting loan players in because there is no outlay. Nice thought but untrue. The likes of O’Hara involve a fee to the club as well as the player and this is dead money as you can’t sell them on.
Too many fans have a simplistic view of football finances. The same fans would be cursing Jez Moxey if he bankrupted the club. Or more likely they would no longer go to games.
if cant compete with other clubs why are we one ofthe dearest season tickets in prem other top 4 even more expensive than vila
Report abuse
Bigger Stadia means clubs can charge less if they so wish, Spurs are more expensive they aren’t top four
Report abuse
Because our ground is so tiny the club obviosuly want to get as much revenue form ticket sales as possible. If our ground was bigger, the tickets would be cheaper. I agree that we are paying way over the odds at Molineux but we dont have the Premiership revenue other clubs have and the board know that the fans will pay up -I think it would be different if we established ourselves in the prem or made the ground bigger.

We won’t get any better with mad Mick and happy clappers like you.
You are living on cloud 9 with your deluded ideas.

Clear off to Sandwell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This must be a new definition of ‘fight’ – gloomy, defeatist predictions that we’re going to get relegated, and hurling abuse at the Management on the Message Boards of the local newspaper. That’s ‘fight’ is it ?
Difficult to tell apart from tantrums, most of it.
Personally, I’ll continue to believe that we can stay up, and that the players will do better with the crowd roaring encouragement, rather than muttering to themselves and leaving early.
If that’s ‘deluded’, then it’s a delusion the bookmakers share. And judging by the people threatening to tear up their Early Birds, the Molineux will be a much Happier place next season, full of the ‘deluded’.
Its not the players fault but the manager.
Mad Mick doesn’t know his strongest team at the moment so how confused will he get with more players. Lots more opportunity to rest 1st team now LOL. Its a pity that we couldn’t rest Mick Jez and Connor for this season
Report abuse
Another unknown player on loan. Where is the premier league experience? Is this the best we can get?
As anybody who knows Wolves well will know, this is the second piece of the cheap option jigsaw. We said weeks ago that we would end up with a couple of cheap foreign gambles (not saying they are totally rubbish, they may turn out to be superb, but if i had to put my money on it i’d go for the former!)along with a couple of third rate championship players coming from a list of something like Rob Hulse, Kris Commons, Daryl Murphy, Tommy Smith, Carlos Edwards, etc, etc! Please wolves prove us wrong!
Said it before the list of players you have quoted the club never expressed any official interest in, please find an article where either SM, JM or MM mentions any of those guys coming to Wolves. It’s the papers putting 2+2 and getting 29! If we had wanted any of those they would without a doubt be in now!
that list of players is the list that they won’t express any public interest in because they know they will be rightly accused of a lack of ambition! it is however the list that i’m pretty sure we will resort to! i’m sorry if it sounds really negative but our transfer record lately doesn’t fill me with confidence!
If it was mate we would have signed them, as it wouldn’t be hard I bet you not one of those players ends up here.
god i hope you’re right! i would say that we’re trying to get some better quality players on the cheap which is why we haven’t got them yet. however, when we discover that we can’t that’s when we’ll resort to this lot! just my opinion so we’ll see!
God I hope you’re wrong!

Did we not sign “names” and journeymen in the past and were did that get us? we need to stay up, then-maybe- these names that you crave for so much will want to come to us.

If we are signing players from the Belgium league, who more importantly, play for a team 4th bottom, then we may aswell sign the likes of Rob Hulse and co.
Once again the lack of ambition from Wolves in the Premiership.
Thank god we have got lucky this season and found ourselves fighting for survival with another 3 or 4 poor teams.

Another cheap option again we must look like a joke to everyone. mick face it we are not gonna get hunt why would he want to leave hull for us when were in exact same posistion as hull but they proberly have a bit more experience. dont get me wrong i loved mick when he first come but he has lost it now he needs to go and lets get mark hughes in be ambitious mick just plays same style of football week in week out and i dunno if he has noticed but its getting us no where and he even said saturday we did well to draw with palace mate are you thick were in the premier league we should be beating palace with our eyes closed and i dunno if u noticed mick but home and away no one has sang super mick MCcarthy for a good few months

Would you like me to go through that last post with all your grammar and punctuation errors corrected, or shall we attempt to debate like a couple of adults without reverting to “DUUUUUUUH SOME PEOPLE ARE DEAD THICK” nonsense?
My brief interweb-surfing mistake notwithstanding, the fact is this – the guy is 24 and has played a couple of dozen games at what might be called the top level IN BELGIUM after scratching around in the lower divisions of what I’m guessing is France. Does that sound like somebody who’s going to offer much to a Premier League relegation scrap? My opinion: no. No, I’ve never seen him play, no, I don’t have the powers of foresight, but the two signings we have made a) don’t fill me full of hope and b) won’t suggest to any other, more high-profile prospective targets that we’re setting our sights very high. I honestly hope I’m wrong.
What debate? You jump straight in commenting on a player you know nothing about, not to mention your earlier post RE Rob Hulse. If you know nothing of where he has played (or how many times) how can you claim to have any solid idea about whether he ”sounds” like he has the required quality? You talk about facts regarding his career when, you know full well we could cite hundreds of players who have come from even more humble origins and proven to be of the highest quality, so the comment is poitnless and meaningless. Are you honestly suggesting that any potential targets are even contemplating our signings? Anyone on our hitlist will be ”realistically” available to us and as such will know exactly what they are getting into and what to expect! Note to all just because someone plays football outside of England and YOU haven’t heard of them doesn’t mean they are ”Useless” the Prem is not the be all and end all in the world of football believe it or not.
Easy Skippy. Mistake acknowledged. I’d still argue that 24 appearances for a middling Belgian top-flight team by the age of 24 shouldn’t exactly fill our hearts with glee. Ever heard of any of the other teams he’s played for…?

now now johnwolf that was a bit below the belt.

Understand why people are saying we’re being too negative – and I know it only takes two wins to lift us out of the poo, but your post states the problem – “defensive midfielder”. Surely we dont need another?? Surely some creativity is required, around which Henry and/or Castillo can revolve?

I am feeling depressed and worried but Gardner can’t get in the Villa team so lets move on from him. This new guy at least runs forward with some conviction and has a blast at goal when he can so that has to be better than our negative static play.
Find a team Mick with people playing in their right position because all this chopping and changing is no good and they don’t know their role. The wall which disintegrated for the second goal on Saturday was a case in point. The ball went straight through a great big space in the middle.
Drop SEB for his own sake and give Vokes a go. We can’t continue with a liability.
What exactly has Morgan spent since he got here It’s time to stand up and be counted before you start asking for early bird money.

There are so many people on this thread with no grasp of the real financial world. Wolves are not a big club. The 50s is History. We have a little premier leage ground. We do not have the money to compete with Blues or Villa. Look at clubs who’ve ‘lived the dream’ Leeds, Pompey and now Hull. It’s unsustainable. We have to work within a budget and grow the club over time. If Wolves charged Spurs ticket prices maybe we could compete more, but people in the Midlands can’t afford it. We are one of I think three clubs in the top 2 leagues not in debt. Over the next few years more and more clubs will be in administration thank God it’s not going to be us.

Stoke have a similar benefactor to us and the same size ground in terms of income and crowds etc. They have managed to back their Manager with excellent Premier signings and wages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not last season they didn’t! Benefit of being in your second season. Having said that they are currently in debt, not massively but if they find themselves struggling on the pitch in the next season or two it will become a problem. They have also made better business in the transfer market I’m afraid and have had a very definite game plan and executed it very well!

To Dave and the rest of Moxey’s golfing buddies, your logic would be correct if we were a club that existed solely on 20,000 gates, but we are in a better position than that or at least should be given the funding from Sir Jack and Steve Morgan’s £3O MILLION.The management of our football club have failed to deliver the required success on the football pitch that should have accrued from this financial benefit.Surely you can all see the logic in the argument articulated in posting by Financial Wizard above.

Looking forward to ripping up the early bird application form when it drops on the doormat in February.
Once again we’ve been sold down the river. By the end of this transfer window, we’ll have spent less than Sandwell did last season. The only difference is that a season ticket behind their goal, didn’t cost nearly £500 !

Sorry Jez, if i hit raw nerve, I’ve been a season ticket holder for many years & yes i did go to the Chorley replay. So i am more than entitled to say it as it is.
FACT This is the weakest Premiership for the last 10 Years and we are pinning our hopes on unproven bodies with no premiership experience.
FACT We are not scoring enough goals, we need to pay what is required to stay in this league, which would require a modest outlay. No one is saying we ought to pay £80,000 a week wages.
Perhaps you’re happy doing an Albion, i’m not & nor are the majority.
FACT If the Season ended now, we’d be in our highest league position since 1981. (I’d guess that’s the highest position in their lifetimes for some of the people howling abuse at the Management)
FACT In the last 25 years we’ve spent 2 in the top division. (So, why the sense of entitlement ?)
FACT The Bookies don’t think we’re going down. (They think Pompey, Hull and Burnley are)
OPINION If you really were at Bolton that night, then I’ve two things to say:
First, it doesn’t make your (or my) opinion any more valid.
Second, if you carried on supporting the club after that, then this is easy.

Please do rip up your early bird application anddont bother coming back. We could marooned at the bottom of the league and I’d still renew.

that is the million dollar question though,..will he get to play,…for some unknown reason Henry’s place seems untouchable,…thats leaves 3 places across the middle,…we already have Jarvis, Milijas(when he can get a game!) Castillo, Jones, Mancienne,..now its looks like Kightly and Dave Edwards are fit…so where and when the 2 new midfielders will play is anyones guess,..maybe one in goal and one upfront knowing MM….but seriously I think the midfield is the least of our worries,..we desperately need some one to put the ball in the net and a decent centre back
Report abuse
One of our problems scoring goals is that the service and support to the forwards just isn’t very good – and that comes from the midfield.
How many times have you seen Doyle bravely trying to keep the ball, outnumbered and with no support in sight ?
I agree though that Henry should not have immunity, and I agree that with Kightly and Edwards back, that’s a lot of midfielders/wingers with precious little to choose between them (except Milijas IMO)

Unlike it would seem from the comments I have read above I took the trouble to watch some of the vidio on U-Tube of this player. Now I know this is heavily cut to favour whoever is the subject but some of the passing both short and long was impressive. His shooting ability from outside the box invariably troubled the keeper with it’s accuracy not a thing happening with any of our current team.
He carries the ball well and is able through strength to shield it. His tackling is fearsome he in many ways looks a Steven Gerrard type player (foot high in the tackle!) If we continue to buy young untried players sooner or later we have to hit on a star. Hope this is the one.

I can’t believe what I’m reading! spending silly money on over inflated January players is not an option! Here’s a choice gamble and go bust (see Portsmouth, Norwich, southhampton etc) be in a position to have to sell players (hull, burnley etc) or remain solvent and be patient, its not beyond belief that more premier clubs will have to start bailing out soon and places will be available within the premier league for teams such as ours. I personally do not feel Mick should be entrusted with the responsibility of huge investment! As for Hunt, Beattie and Roberts forget them, get the best out of what we’ve got and try our luck with the unproven we’re due a bit of luck wit a signing.
Looks like we have agreed a fee with Blackburn for Roberts and I think that he is exactly what we need. Strength, pace and power. I cannot see Hunt being included this weekend for our game with Hull. He obviously fancys the move as long as we match his current salary. Fair enough. We need Kites, Keogh and Matt Murray back! Watching Hennessey again on Saturday has made me very happy that we have Hahnemann.
I was with my brother and a couple of mates and when the free kick was lined up I said that we should have someone on the post – as Hahnemann does – and I also thought that Hennessey was too central in the goal and look what happened. In my opinion, after a reasonable start in the Premiership, he has gone backwards and Ikeme is better value as a reserve.
After Saturday, I would say that Zubar, Jones and Vokes are pushing for a place. Sylvan needs to be dropped and although he swung some decent crosses in, Foley should not be played as a right sided midfielder!
How about a bloody striker to put the damn ball in the net?. How many midfielders do we need for gods sake!
Lets hope he’s good enough. A more domonating midfield will see us create more chances and hopefully help ebanks blake and the rest trouble the scorer more often.
Hunt would be a great signing.
My worries are the lack of premiership experience. Some really great players have struggled to find form when they get to this league so I wounder how much we can reasonably expect from these guys?
Anyway, I’m keeping the faith. What else can we all do?
Lets hope he is good enough but to be honest can’t see him being a saviour and keeping us in this league. Mick i think your time is running out and it might be time to go (or be pushed)!!!
See if Mark Hughes fancies the challenge!
I think one positive to take from this story that Matt Hill has gone to QPR. at last we seem to be getting rid of dead wood. I fear for wolves when i see his name on the team sheet he is not good enough for championship let alone prem!!!
Can’t help but thinking we are not going to get Hunt and i can’t see Roberts coming back to the club who turned their backs on him for him to go to near rivals and be one of their bast players!!
If the ‘muppet’ picks his strongest team, without Torres and Gerard for Liverpool, Wolves should win this at home.
But, don’t put any money on it.
Watching Wolves against Tranmere Rovers and Crystal Palace was tragic, and why we are still hanging on in the Cup, I will never know.
I have little doubt we will make our exit at Selhurst park
Wolves have talent and skill, but lack experience, and are running as a ‘rabble’, amd the ‘muppet’ has to be on his 9th life in the eyes of Morgan.
He really must go and make way for a Manager who can motivate the players and show them how to survive in this division.
Two predictions…unless Wolves get points out of the next two Premiership games..Liverpool and Hull, McCarthy will be forced to step down.
The other prediction is that we will get Hunt just before the close of the window..definite.
I don’t remember a cat in the Muppet Show ?
Just for your info Mr Angry Wolf Liverpool beat Spurs without Torres, Gerrard and ,for me their most influential player recently, Yossi Benayoun. Gerrard howver i8s now fit and may well play tomorrow…..so watch out !
I too, think Hunt will come too Molineux by Feb 1st, but your prediction on McCarthy going is like a SEB screamer….wide of the mark ! We’re all in this together, so get your collective sleeves rolled up.
Can we drop the constant Muppet references. It’s worn out, childish and just not funny anymore
Report abuse
I think we should go 4-4-1-1 for the Hull game. We are due a win there:
Hahnemann
Foley
Berra
Craddock
Mancienne
Muganji Bia
Castillo
Henry
Jarvis
Milijas (Behind)
Doyle
Report abuse
Agree. Our forwards aint doin it so why not play an extra midfielder? Most of our good results have involved Milijas scoring/assisting, so let’s focus on him.
We seem to do ok on set plays and we’ll be difficult to break down in midfield which is where we often get over run.
One change though, Henry needs a rest. I’d play Jones ahead of Henry with Castillo as the anchorman.
I totally agree with playing a different formation. 4,4,1,1 to me seems a more obvious choice than making do with forwards who are clearly not up to the task required or too low in confidence.
I’d Play Mancienne in front of the two center halfs, Foley at right Back, Left back ?????????? god knows, Ward can get forward but players whip past him and big George.
Makes sence to give Castilo and Mijas a proper run out in midfields as they were team mates at Belgrade.
Jarvis does nothing for me at all, yes hes quick but can Ben Johnston play football??
too much head down and unaware of whats going on around him for my likes.
I think that when Keogh gets back to fitness he should be the one to sit behind the forward/s. He seems to be judged on the lack of goals he scores, but like Vokes hes not ever going to be a 20 goals a season plus type of forward. He is however a clever player, works exceptionally hard and chases lost causes.
You need then some quick wingers, that are more than happy to get to the by line and whip in accurate crosses, or not scared to come inside and have a pop.
Come on you wolves
Report abuse
Why do we keep buying players that are unheard of. I think mancienne would be fine as a holding midfielder he reads the game much better than henry and is a better tackler, we’re wasting him at the moment with berra and craddock as our centre backs and he is a great talent. I think we need to focus on our attacking options as we have had a shortage of goals scored particularly in open play. Adam johnson from middlesborough would be good or we need to up our efforts to sign stephen hunt.

My personal opinion, for what it’s worth(!?)is that MM will stay till the summer and, whether we stay up or not, will be gone.
If we stay in the PL expect someone with better/bigger experience of PL standards -Houlier (if thats how you spell his name)is my shout with his Liverpool connexion. If not then expect someone like Curbs or coppell.
Accept the FACT (underlined big bold capitals) MM isn’t going anywhere yet. So if you realy are true wolves supporter get behind the team NOW (underlined big bold capitals)and stop moaning about players you have no idea about cos you have never seen them play.
I’ve asked before – did anyone see/hear of Kites before he came along. Fair job he has done for the Wolves
Re getting proven prem league players. There’s hardly any movement in the market, but I guess it will be frantic behind (and very occasionally in front of) the scenes this week.
It seems that Wolves’ strategy is to buy several unproven players with potential and hope that a few of them make the grade.
This is a very risky strategy for attempting to stay in the top flight and one that hasn’t proved successful so far, including our last season on the Premiership.
I think it’s ok to sign a few of these players if you are signing a few proven top flight players at the same time (albeit maybe on loan), but to rely on enough of these players coming good enough to keep us up is a long shot!
I can’t understand why we always seem to have a couple of key targets and invariably seem to miss out on them, and then there is no “plan B”.
I cant believe what some of you are saying about Karl Hnery, he’s one of the few this season who has made the step up with no problems at all! He is so consistent, never a bad performance, easily our most sold player, first name on the team sheet every week. As for bidding wars, I can understand, because Birmingham are much richer than us, and are a much more attractive option right now. If we can get a striker in as well as Hunt, i’ll be very pleased with the signings then this month.
Which games have you been watching then?
You must have the only seat at Molineux and at the away end in other grounds that faces AWAY from the pitch!!!
I have to ask the same of you Do you watch Wolves or stay at home listening to the radio along with Doyle, USA & Craddock Henry has been one of our better players.
have to agree with the replies to this message. People that understand football understand the need for a combative ball winning midfielder that plays the simple ball. our trouble is we haven’t got the creative players for him to give it to. henry’s energy is superb!
wembley, your clearly the one that doesnt watch the games, iveseen henry play week in week out since we signed him, and bar kightly, hes the best bit of business mick has done at this club. Your clearly one of the people who focus on the Doyle’s, Milijas, the players who make the headlines. Henry does all the work that goes unnoticed. Nearly every team has a midfielder in his type, its what makes teams tick, u cant just have 2 midfields like milijas playing, u need to one to sit and break play up, and he does it superbly.
I hope your tongue was firmly in your cheek when you wrote this. Henry is lightweight, gets booked because he can’t tackle and makes clumsy challenges, plays 15 yards too deep, has to turn 360 degrees with the ball before he passes it and nine times out of ten passes the ball square or backwards. The guy has not made the step up to the premier league, far from it. I will agree that he seems to be untouchable as far as McCarthy is concerned which is why we will never know if there is a better player than him in that position unless he gets injured or suspended. If there isn’t, I will be the first to hold my hands up. We are all entitled to opinions and I respect yours, mine is, the guy is not good enough.
I agree that Karl Henry may not be the Prem’s greatest defensive midfielder but I also agree he has played very well at times. Yes his passing can be a bit erratic at times but he certainly hasnt played badly this season. Don’t understand all the abuse the guy gets.
My worry is that if the two new signings are only as fit as Milijas and take as long to aclimatise as Zuber it will be JUNE before they are effective!!!
Why cant some of you give this bloke a chance?whoever we sign non of u are happy your a joke!! we aint even seen him kick a ball yet!
I agree Richie.
I am not a fan of MM but he will not be leaving the club this season…and in a way why should he.
I do not think his signings have been good and allot of them are very average in this league.
However, the two new signings have been scouted and recommended to the manager to do the job. Shall we see how they get on or hang them now!!!?. I can not see how any one on this site is more qualified to comment on a player than the staff at the club!
Why do the fans on this site think that any premiership players will come to the club?
If we manage to stay up ( which sadly I doubt we will) then maybe we can get some premiership players then.
Thats what Stoke, Hull,Wigan etc did.
I say again I prefer to have a financially viable club and still be supporting them as they yo-yo from Championship to Premiership than loose the club all together.
I was around in the day af Administration, the Batty brothers etc and we would have been happy for another MM to mange us in the premiership…Mickey Mouse!!
Lets get behind the club and please please understand that we are NOT a BIG club which can attract named players!
Winslow Wolf…good comments from you throughout this “discussion” well done mate

Well well, Looks like Wolves going after the cheap option. No point Moxey spouting his rubbish, he will be enemy No1 if wolves get relegated. The board have obviously have no ambition at all to compete at this leavel. None at all. We wont buy Hunt, its another PR spin, its the show of intent and nothing else. PATHETIC!
I am looking at birmingham city with envy. They have a big masterplan and looking great for EUROPE. Wolves on the other hand are just clapsing at straws, wolves have a manager who is inept at this level, time and time again playing players in not their accustomed positions, poor transfers in the summer, hence where are Halford, Castillo, ended up… scrapheap. Morgan I am sorry to say is not wolves through and through, he is a red and always will be. If Wolves stay up, then it be a minor miracle. MM would need to go because he can not take Wolves up to the next level. We need a manager who can take us further, I would make a net to be cast to Jean Tigana!

Bluenoses have a billionaire! That’ll go pop in the not too distant future, it is hard to stomach what is going on there though.
Why do you care who we sign fool?
You and your ilk have already decided we’re doomed to relegation so why do you keep complaining?
How is trying to buy Hunt PR spin? As far as I’m aware Mick and Moxey haven’t said anything – you’re just relying on the garbage you read in the press.
My mate said he saw Robinho getting off the 87 at Wolverhampton bus garage – why don’t you berate Mick for that too?
Time to get back in your armchair keyboard warrior. Keep tapping your unusual unconstructive bile.

I know we are hoping for a couple of well known Prem signings but lets give the lad a chance, if he does not work out we can all have a moan then, at least he’s on loan so if he is not good enough we don’t sign him the window’s still open and we are still after Hunt, and looking at Jason Roberts, could he do a job for us?

“You know full well we could cite hundreds of players who have come from even more humble origins and proven to be of the highest quality.”
Off you go then. Hundreds, you said, so off you go. Meanwhile, I’ll list all the players who have played 24 games in the Belgian top flight by the age of 24, who have gone on to shine in the Premier League.
Right, I’ve finished, how’s that list coming on?
Brilliant! That post proves what exactly?!! Interesting debate! I am going to go ahead and assume that you don’t actually need a list of every player who hasn’t come from one of the top teams academies throughout the world and history of football but has still go on to be great footballers. If you actually did it would meerely serve to prove the point that you have little knowledge of football, I don’t actually think that is the case, I think you made a instant comment about something and now feel the need to back that up, fair enough. I’m also sure you would be happy if the signings prove to be decent as you clearly are a fan and not a Tesco. The Belgian lad at Everton hasn’t done bad or the centre half at Arsenal, different financial bracket of course, but Kites was hardly a massive signing and came in on a very similar deal lest we forget.
PS I could put a list from over the decades very easily(maybe not on this train journey) as I’m sure you probably could!
What about Fellaini from Everton?
Sure he is Belgian and unknown before he signed for them!
I said about Kezman a couple of weeks ago actually and we could do a lot worse, or Cisse or Baros maybe? I agree at 24 only 24 games at top level in Belgium does not excite and is a very valid point, but he is aggressive, fit and strong and IMO we need that (Castillo I hear you cry, I know but MM’s selection policy is an enigma!). Vermaelen doesn’t count your right! But Witsel and Defour are two players from that league attracting massive interest. Re Kites I agree I am praying we see the old him before the season is out.

Mr.Morgan when are you going to stop McCarthy taking the P… out of the fans. Two signings from 4th.bottom in the Belgian League, obviousl no intentions of bringing in EXPERIENCED PREMIERESHIP PLAYERS,such as Beattie, keane or whoever that would undoubtably keep us in the Premiereship. If you hadn`t noticed our forwards aren`t scoring goals and our defence are letting them in.Why does the muppet still want to do things on the cheap? he still hasn`t learned. If we lose to Liverpool tomorrow please tell him to clear his desk and leave us with some sort of hope to cling on to,something that we will never have as long as he`s here.P.S.He could also take Moxey with him for what use he is.

Why would Keane come to Wolves even on loan.
If he came and we still went down where would that leave him ?.
As for Moxey I doubt you are qualified to comment on his ability as a CEO are you?
Happy to apologise if you have experience of running a football club.
To me he is doing a great job and has looked after the financial future of the club very well whilst getting them into the premiership with a chance ( maybe slender!)
of staying up

I suppose it was the Frankowski deal that finally persuaded you what a good job he is doing.Or may be Robert Taylor.Do you remember his failure to sign Kuqi for peanuts 9 years ago,or the quote a few years back’Wolves will not be signing Ricardo Fuller’ I see Fuller scored two goa;s yesterday. We might be signing 32 year old Jason Roberts soon, but Dave Jones wanted him 6 years ago when Roberts was in his prime. I could go on about throwing lifeling invalid fans out of the Billy Wright upper and his unfair pricing policy for students and over 60s. Yes he is doing a really good job.
Moxey doing a good job ,you are having a laugh.Ask any Stoke fan whether they would have him back and I know what the answer would be. Considering the amount of money SJH and Morgan have invested together with the Sky millions ANYONE with a financial background would be able to keep the club out of debt. I have heard him on the radio many times and give the bloke his due ,he talks a good game but in reality delivers NOTHING.Would make a good politician and for that reason I dont believe a word he says.

Shroppy I wish they were Baggies in Wolves clothing, but, unfortunately I believe that they are Wolves ”Fans” the Boo boys will soon change their tune when he starts smashing in a few tackles, and drives the boys forward as this is what he has been signed to do, so one can only hope he comes good in that respect. Right then. Let’s draw up an official unofficial list of plausible signings, with reasons why. I’m starting with Kezman – he’s played in the top flight all his life, Marseille are loaning him out, he presumably knows both Zubar and Milijas and so might actually want to come, and he has scored boatloads of goals for everyone except Chelsea where he didn’t really get a decent run in the first team. And we might be able to afford his wages.

I think everyone that we are not asking to sign big players and to go bust, the fact is with the squad we have got, we are not playing a settled team, every week we have a different team, take a look at the big teams, the same team week in week out the only time they change is in the league cup. Please MM pick a side on a regular basis, like we did last year because if we dont get back to scoring and putting a bit of flair in our play we will go down and none of us want that do we? GET A SETTLED SIDE IN NOW!!!!before it is to late PLEASE!!!Alan

I think a lot of people are just a bit disappointed with the level or lack of experience of our signings. They may not be bad players but we are in the finest football league in the world and signing players who need time to bed in in January may not be the best move. Ive never heard of either of them to be honest, not saying they are bad but would love a bit of Prem quality in our team. We are in a slump at the moment and even the fans need picking up a bit i feel.

What about JOE LEDLEY at Cargiff again??????
I am not one to knock any new signings, especially before they have played. I like others have looked at the youtube videos of adlede, which has left me non the wiser. But looking through his career, he has swapped teams every year since he became profesional, spending most of his time in the bottom divisions in France. So he has played with 6 or 7 teams in as many years. Surely if he was any good he would of moved to an higher level when he has had chance before to move.
I have major doubts that he will make it at all. Hoepfully he will help Majangi Bia settle, as he looks like he may have a chance of becoming a good player. When you sign 2 players like this, usually only 1 makes it and thats what I expect.
Hopefully Wolves will sign someone soon with experience.. as the 3 M’s are digging their own grave by not pulling any punches with new signings.

he looks ok on you tube and i hope he is but i thought we needed a striker or an experienced prem center midfielder .i think we should be looking for a right sided midfielder to as we are resorting to playing foley there or edwards when hes fit, just hope mad mick didnt see the you tube video cus he kept picking the ball up in the left back posotion he might decide hes another full back

These players might be good, they might not. We need PROVEN QUALITY but it seems we’re unwilling to pay the transfer fees/wages despite the £30m promise of investment from Morgan.
4th highest season tickets in the league, 19th lowest wage bill. No student discounts on the already expensive tickets.
Oh yes, Moxey’s very good at making money, just rubbish at spending it. If it’s coming from Morgan then it’s time to put his money where his mouth is.
Don’t you think that another year in the Premiership would gather more cash than being tight now and going down?
We ARE doing an Albion minus the good football.

One thing is crystal clear now: We Are Going Down!

Any player who pulls on the gold shirt and gives his all deserves his chance and our support and with that we might just find that we end up with one or two diamonds out of the rough.
Well I guess we have to support these two new players – they are now Wolves players and deserve that. However, what we need is experienced quality tried and tested prem players that can create defend and most importantly know how to put the ball in the goal? Hmmmm! To the best of my knowledge these two don’t fit into that category? I know trying to do business in this window is difficult, but we need tried and tested skills to help us stay up.
Pompey’s Kevin Prince Boetang would have been a good try, Jamie O’Hara definitely and McCarthy from Blackburn or Beattie. I think we will miss out on Hunt although he would be an excellent signing, but just him would not be enough in my humble view.. :-(

Well, give the lad a go I suppose; but I can’t imagine the rest of the Prem will be quaking in their boots at the prospect of lining up against a couple of relative unknowns from a relegation threatened Belgian side. And are the recent additions likely to galvanise the current squad in the way an established/experienced, Home Grown Pro would? Or could accomodating and coaxing the new lads into the ways of the English game prove further handicaps for an already over-stretched squad?
What does all of this indicate, anyway? A lack of ambition on the Club’s behalf; or a realistic assesment of our chances for the rest of the season informed by the sobering knowledge of the largely bad business done in the summer?
I think you may find these posts may be alot more positive if the owner, chairman had not stated at the beginning of the season that they were “going to give it a right good go” and ” we had learnt from our mistakes last time round” if the club had told us supporters that we would have to operate on a strict budget and try and find some unknown gems from abroad to try and see us through then i think you would find that you would not be getting quite a backlash! Infact! You would get a simular reaction to when moxey came out a few yrs ago before a championship season saying we are all going to have to pull together as we are going through a transitional period and we need to stabalise the club with young hungry talent! That season no one built up high expectations and i remember itbeing very positive from fans home and away! Now….. Wat has happened this season is they have promised tbe world, charged us the earth and what exactly are we getting in return?? In my opinion nothing more than mid table championship performances from middle of the road average championship players! And i hope im proved wrong but these new signings are nothing short of having championship ambition!
Im afraid mr morgan and mr moxey your soon going to feel the wrath of a gold n black backlash and to be honest …. You brought it all on yourselves!!
Totally agree.. We were promised so much at the start of
the season bout havin a good go at the league but this

to sell the club not find himself a bonus

We all should support and get behind any player who puts on the old gold shirt, and I will be doing so with both of the new guys, but I am so disappointed in our business so far in this window.
We are crying out for some Prem experience to help keep a ‘steady ship’ over the last few months of the season but all we do is go out and get players who, understandably, may need time to settle both in the league we are in and into a new country ! We do NOT have the time !!! I’m afraid it’s doing things on the cheap and the promises of the 3 Ms at the start of the season now look very empty indeed.
We are in dire need of some goal-power up front and,to my mind,Beattie would have been perfect in a number of ways…….but,no,let’s buy another midfielder instead ! (shows what a mistake the recruitment of Castillo clearly was !)
I now the fear the worst in a season where, due to the poor quality or circumstances of other teams we really have had a golden chance of staying up.

From these loan signing its looks like we have no money to spend in the transfer window and no ambition.
Not sure if these 2 will have any impact as this isnt the belgian league, one good thing is that they come from the same club so it should help them settle in.
We still need an experienced striker with vokes back, I still would like to see another central defender to challenge berra and craddock. stearman, zubar dont seem to be in contention and mancienne is a liability and is better in midfield.
Henry gets a lots of flack because he is limited in what he does with the ball, but he does get tackles in and breaks up play. Its about having a balanced midfield and playing henry with the likes of foley, jones, edwards doesnt help and its easy to see why we lose games. i’d play him with mancienne. MM should consider playing 451 with 3 midfielders against liverpool.
Roberts would be a decent signing, he doesnt score a lot but works the defenders, and lets face it SEB, Iwelumo, hoff, have made no impact.
Solano would have been a good signing, as he is a class act even at 35,with him and miljas putting in quality crosses and corners we would have a chance.

one more point if we had signed these two at the start of the season ok, but were halfway into the season, have a 50-50 chance of staying up, and we are not creating many chances or scoring.
we need more quality and experience. I dont see it with these signings, but I’m happy to eat my words

“we refuse to enter a bidding war with blues” you mean we won’t pay quality players the proper wages required (but blues will) moxey you know nothing about good players. Take it from me these two players from a poor belgian league will not cut it in the premier league(hope i’m wrong) like all the other garbage we’ve signed,we have wasted millions on a large ordinary squad of average players. How many are actually playing in the team week in week out? not many,it’s basically a championship team with a few cheapo foreigners added.why have we not trimmed the squad and bought in a few quality signings who can have an impact on our season?like the premier league experience you were talking about jason roberts would be a good start or beattie but the wages will scare morgan and moxey to death.

I can’t help think that a manager who is more tactically aware and a coach who can motivate players in their correct positions would achieve more with the same squad than the current management team. I am not a McCarthy basher, i believe he was the best manager to get us promoted, but his premiership record shows he is out of his depth.
If Alex McLeish, Benetiz, Owen Coyle etc had our squad of players, i wonder if the points tally would read the same as now?
Good players do not become bad players overnight. Wayne Rooney would struggle to score in our team, strikers need service, ours get very little. We do not play as a team, not suprising as players do not know who they will playing with from one week to the next or in what position, unlike the Blues and look where they are now.
We need a settled back four,a settled midfield, (Milas instead of Henry?) and a front two (Doyle & Vokes/Keogh) who can get used to playing to each others stregnths and not keep taking up the same positions. Doyle is a striker not a winger, god how i feel for this guy, the only chances he gets he makes himself. Mick, take SEB out of the firing line, the negative flack he gets is not helping him re-discover his form, give him a break and give him some proper “coaching” (Mr Bull wants achat with him i believe!!)
I don’t believe there will be any changes to the manager before the end of the season, so mick, pick your team and stick to it, and please prove me wrong and keep our club up!!

Premier league experience is indeed important but whether players with this experience are willing to join our team is another matter.
Paying the correct wages at the present market rate for good experience players and if we can ill-afford the financial burden then having Wolves go into the administration is not the way, as we found out in the not too distance past.
League 2(old Div 4)is not where I hope the team to be. Wage structure is important and if wages does not meet an expectation so be it, we can live with it rather then spiralling financial ruin.
We may have a glorious history but have not achieve any honours recently that is worthy of mention other then promotion to attract players that are willing to join.
To build up a team needs time and as we progressed thru’ the up and down of the Premier league the much experience would be achieve if the players had the conviction and commitment to team Wolves.
Management, coaching and supporting staff must also shared the same conviction and commitment if Wolves is to progress.
It is a team effort.May we learnt and progressed from herewith.
Up the Wolves and to a better and glorious future.

I remember when we had all the prem experience the last time we were up, what good did that do us, we all wanted young blood to play for the shirt instead of journey men on big wages, now we have that, we want to go and buy a load of prem deadwood on big money.
Its about time we got behind the lads we have and the ones we sign and support them instead of constantly moaning.

Must be the Aussie optimism.
You’ll all be wanting Sheringham to pull the boots on soon.
These guys have yet to pull the boots on and a lot of you are already slagging them off.

Proven premiership experience is required. Even if we spent £30million and £100,000 a week on a Robinho type it wouldn’t guarantee survival – in the Premiership players get found out (SEB for instance) … it’s easy to look good against Sporting Club BrusselSprout, but up against the top quality midelfielders, top quality defences, top quality goalkeepers (and nearly every Premiership team has them) is a different story …
Please sign some solid premiership experience NOW.

God is this the best we can do? The Blues were outbidding and outsigning us even BEFORE Carson Yeung took over!

Firstly the Mighty Muppet buys Halford who had 4 clubs in 4 years. Now he buys an Algerian who has had 7 clubs in 6 years. Do I detect a pattern here?

Who cares how these two new mystery men play; you’re missing the point; we can’t score goals and need a forward urgently.
I hope they are wonders on the wing or in midfield but from their great play….who’s going to put the ball into the net.
I love Doyle’s passion and workrate but he don’t score regularly; Seb’s working hard but not getting close to scoring double figures; Ilwelom…who; as for the giraffe….what a waste of time.
Spend some money before we’re back where we started.
