Di Matteo to step up signings search

Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo is looking to step up the hunt for loan signings.
The Baggies head coach is keen to add to his squad soon as the club enter a spell of nine matches in 33 days with Tuesday’s trip to Ipswich.
But Di Matteo has admitted he might have to wait for reinforcements with the domestic loan market open until March.
“Ideally maybe after this game we can get somebody in, otherwise the loan window stays open in England for domestic transfers so we will always be looking in case we need to strengthen what we’ve got,” he said.
“Playing every three days is difficult because it drains a lot of energy out of players and sometimes the recovery time is not enough.
“That’s why we need other players and the availability of all our players.
“First of all we need all our players available. We need a squad.
“We are looking to maybe add one or two loan players to our squad to get us through the next three months, it’s not just the next five weeks.
“We need to not pick up any bad injuries so most of the players are available to play games and just stick to what has brought us where we are at the moment and try to win as many games as we can.”
Di Matteo is likely to target attacking players in the loan market with Abdoulaye Meite due back from international duty at the start of February to swell defensive numbers.
However, reports linking the Baggies with a move for Sunderland striker David Healy are wide of the mark.
Di Matteo’s men were set to showcase another new shirt sponsor against the Magpies this afternoon after striking a one-match deal with esprit UK.
The West Bromwich-based shop-fitting company has become the third company to take advantage of the Baggies’ match-by-match shirt sponsorship scheme – the first for a non-televised game.
Finance director Mark Jenkins said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with esprit UK and the fact they are a West Bromwich company that we have worked with closely for many years makes it a perfect fit for this game.
“Our match-by-match shirt sponsorship opportunities have really caught the imagination and we are talking to several companies about deals for future games.”
