Beattie now on Wolves’ radar

Beattie now on Wolves’ radar

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy admits signing a striker is now a priority as well as a left winger this month and £3million James Beattie is on his radar.

Former England international Beattie has failed to start Stoke’s last two games and has scored just twice this season.

McCarthy wants to address the club’s billing as the Premier League’s lowest scorers with just 17 in 21 games, and Beattie scored seven in 16 games to inspire the Potteries club to seven wins and safety last season.

The Wolves boss is looking for someone to have the same impact as the one-time Everton and Southampton man made at Stoke after moving from Sheffield United this time last season.

With Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford withdrawing his transfer request after Newcastle had a fourth bid of £2million rejected, McCarthy admits signing a marksman is now a priority.

After Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Wigan, he said: “It is and we’re looking for players – we should have scored from the last corner.

“I’ve got four strikers. But we’re looking for someone and if we get someone, then fine.”

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake remains without a goal in open play this season, and missed a golden chance with the game goalless on Saturday.

McCarthy said: “It looked like a good one. He’s just having one of those periods, but he’s working his socks off to improve.

“He’ll get back on it. It will turn around because he’s a good player. The fans were great to him as they were to the team.”

The club have also refuted weekend reports suggesting a record-equalling £6.5million bid for Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson, and have not made any offer for the 22-year-old.

Johnson is out of contract in the summer and will have the pick of the top clubs.

Wolves still haven’t given up on Hull winger Stephen Hunt – the other player they have bid for – but have other targets.

Sunderland’s Daryl Murphy remains very much in their thoughts and they could move for him before the window shuts. Murphy was signed by McCarthy at Sunderland from Waterford in 2005 and can play wide left and up front.

Granted the performance on saturday was poor but we’re still doing well this season!

You criticise the manager but in 3 years he transformed a club that couldnt field a team in a friendly against kidderminster, to a team that won us the league, don’t you think if he had the money available to him then he would spend it!

We’re 17th at the moment which i’ll happily take in our first season in this league come the end of the season, get off his back, get realistic and support the team….or if you want to support a team that wins every week, go buy a man city shirt haha but don’t come crawling back when theyre owners pull the plug and theyre in league 1 like leeds are now!

As Wolves try and do most of their dealings away from the press we have no idea which players Mick has gone for in both transfer windows. We know that Mick wanted Scott Dann and Roger Johnson in the last window and has identified Hunt in this window – these would all have been great signings and you cant blame MM for not signing them. All he will do is tell the board which players he wants and let them sort out the financial side of it. If MM cant get his first choice sigings then he oviously has to look elsewhere. I’m have been as underwhelmed as everyone by our transfer activity but it’s not as if MM doesnt want to improve the team – we can only sign the players that will come to us.

Agree with you but can’t agree with TOPWOLF As I pay over £500 to watch and if I think a player is overweight, lazy and not working anythink like as hard as the other 10 in the team I will tell him [BLAKE!] and also Super Mick what I think. We were second best in a must win home game again which is totally unacceptable. It showed up Micks main problem that he just does not have the required technical football tactics required at Prem level. If he can’t do it perhaps its time to get somebody in who can.

I’m not saying that I wasn’t disgusted with saturdays performance, particularly ebanks, or that I agree with Micks decisions, in fact I think he got it totally wrong on saturday and I also think we should let him know how we feel after a performance like that.

I’m just looking at the bigger picture and feel that overall he’s done a good job since he joined and I don’t think it would be beneficial changing our manager now!

Exactly the sort of signing that we need. SEB needs some reserve games but a goal will get him going he is desperately low on confidence.

Adam Johnson I think will see out his contract at Borough and join Chelsea I cannot see him signing for us unfortuantely, lets get Chris Eagles from Burnley 4mil should do it. Beattie would relish being in a side with proper wingers. Jamie O’Hara would be ideal aswell and possibly Gary O’Neil from Borough.

Bad game on Sat but we need another run like we did after the blues game.

After Saturdays farce I think that you will find the team very demoralised, they must know how putrid their performance was.

I don’t believe there will be any more runs. The opposition all understand how to play us out of the game and McCarthy doesn’t have the wit or knowledge to counteract it.

Players continually rotated around the pitch, no time to get understandings going, it is all that student managers are taught not to do!

Until McCarthy is replaced I won’t be spending any more on Earlybirds! I have been made a fool of too many times believing the Moxey promises and spin, in any event Championship prices have to be lower than Premiership.

Fully Agree! Although Beattie had a good season last season and he seems to play well against Wolves i don’t think he will be what we need. he has been around for a while and not really ‘set the world alight’

SEB is too predictable for this league. He got away with it last term, but you need that bit extra in this league! i think mick need to give another partnership a chance like Iwelumo and Doyle.

It would be great to get 2-3 players of the likes of Hunt, Johnson, O’Hara but we have been linked with some big names before and nothing has come off so until i see them in a wolves top holding a scarf above them on the back of the paper, i’m taking nothing for granted!!! But if We want to stop up and Mick wants a job come August, we are going to need to spend – and spend in the region of £15m to stay in the promised land!! We need a ball winning Midfielder someone who is going to get stuck in and familiar with Yellow cards!!!

We will be lucky to sign anyone that is any good, 18 days of January are gone and not one player brought in. This says it all, the club is lacking in any ambition to stay in the Premier league, we just keep dithering and are now heading back to the Championship with Mick McCarthy in charge. His summer signings have brought very little to the team with most of them now just fringe players.
We will be lucky to get a result against Crystal Palace if the performance is anything like the one against Wigan, and no doubt more team changes and players playing out of position.

I agree that the lack of decisive transfer activity is sadly indicative of the Club’s apparent refusal to recognise the position we were in, even before the Wigan debacle. Anybody with an atom of sense could see the areas of the playing staff we’re most in need of strengthening (FB, wings and CF); targets should have been identified and pursued from minute one. But I feel it only serves to mirror the shakey business we did in the Summer, when the intial surge of optimism afforded by Doyle’s signing dissipated somewhat as we missed out on Dann, and seemed ultimately confined to speculative signings, none of whom (Milijas excepted) have proven anything like adequate.

We have to sign a striker. I would be happy with Beattie in the hope he could do what he did for Stoke last season. However, he’s only scored twice this season.

I love HUnt and Jonson but I’d be surprised if we get either. Eagles from Burnley would be a good signing but will they sell? There is no point in signing Murphy from S’land, he isn’t good enough.

In all honesty though. I don’t think Mick is the right man for the job. If we don’t take 6 points out of our next three games (L’pool, Hull, West Ham), then he should go as I can’t see how he will keep us up.

Our home form against the teams in our mimi league is dreadful and we are a poor team. The match on sat was the worst we’ve played in a long time. We have to strengthen and improve.

Saw match live over here and was very poor- no fight at all. Why drop Berra? Why take off Jarvis? Why leave SEB on as he’s clearly got no confidence. Big Chris is not the answer so why not try Vokes, he could be the one to play with Doyle (the only guy we have likely to score) We have no creativity at all – wingers not prepared to run at defenders (as Nzogbia did) and cross from by line. Jones comes on with no match sharpness and together with Henry showed no attacking qualities. Why does no one try shooting from more than 6 yards? I don’t believe Morgan wants to spend any money and is prepared to let us drop back down and live off parachute payments. Most of the supporters have been around a long time whereas MM and SM are newboys – they’ll leave at somepoint and leave us back in nomans land. We need players who will attack defences, cause problems & make them panic. Even Kightly hasn’t been running at defenders the few times he has played, we are trying to be too patient in our build up & consequently have become very predictable. Let’s get up & at ‘em! We also need to invest in good quality players even if this means breaking the club’s transfer record again. You apy penuts you get monkeys!! I gave up my season ticket after the last premiership debacle, why should I pay my money up front when the club aren’t prepared to spend on trying to maintain premiership status, all we bocome is a yo-yo club. I’ve also compared our season ticket prices with those of other teams & we are amongst the most expensive in the lower half of the league. Let’s see some of it spent, the sooner the better.

So James Beattie is now being mentioned. Could he do for us what he did for Stoke or would he be yet another passenger like Ebanks-Blake? – Beattie is a championship player at best which is not what we want or need and his 32nd birthday comes around next month!
Adam Johnson is a no-go after stating he will stay at Middlesbrough until June and then decide where he will go. As for Stephen Hunt, well that avenue seems closed with Hull not encouraging any bids. Craig Gardner WILL go to the Brummies so that leaves Wolves looking around for anyone who fits the bill as a winger and a striker.
Personally I think Wolves will NOT sign anyone of note for a number of reasons but should it happen, what’s the betting any
player brought in will become a ‘make-weight’
and end up warming the bench?
Still even without any additions, ‘Super’ Mick tells us ‘we’ll be fine’ – well that’s ok for him to say for should the unthinkable actually happen and he does get fired, he will receive a nice ‘little’ payoff but what will we, the supporters, receive?
ANOTHER DAMN SEASON IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP, that’s what!

Of the players that were on the pitch Saturday, I believe that Mancienne will always struggle against big centre forwards due to lack of height and physique, Foley and Stearman cannot play together on the right, Iwelumo has no place in the Premiership and Vokes should be used more often and Ebanks-Blake needs to be rested!

Who in their right mind would want to sign for Wolves under McCarthy…James Beatie, a player that is not able to get a start with Stoke, who themselves are no great shakes.

There is no doubt in my mind that Palace will account for Wolves on saturday, they are playing top football, and could even be in the play offs this season.

May I suggest that after the game on Saturday when the Palace players are boarding the bus back to Selhurst Park, that Morgan grabs Warnock, and half a dozen of their players for a straight swap, and let them have..Surman,Ebanks,big Chris,Halford,Stearman & Elokobi, and through in McCarthy for good measure, with a 2 million bonus as an incentive to take Mick with them.

Mick should get on well with Palaces maniac owner ‘pretty boy Jordan’…they would both have a similar IQ, together with a limited understanding of football.

Just heard from a contact close to the Wolves Management that McCarthy will be fielding the Wolves ladies team against Palace, to give his over taxed lads a rest before Liverpool.

This is not about just Saturday, it is about performances against Portsmouth, Birmingham, Hull and now Wigan among others.
The players are plainly unfit, they have no ball control and in the case of the ‘captain’ Karl Henry and some others, they are afraid to have the ball at their feet.
Last week saw a group of real footballers join the Hall of Fame, there is not a single member of the current Wolves club who would get near it.

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock…. The clock is still ticking and the month of January is nearly 2/3′s gone, and still no positive news in the transfer market.

As I said yesterday, SEB at the moment could not hit a cow’s bum with a banjo. And what we need right now is goals. Beattie has always impressed but, as with many items on this site, there is not much substance behind the veil of maybe’s or possibles.

It really is make or break time and, unless action is taken now, we can all look forward to a gloomy summer in spite of the ray of sunshine that is the World Cup.

Sorry, but my glass is now half empty, not half full…..

Can anyone explain what happened to Matt Hill? He came in against Blackburn and was quality, since then hasn’t had a look in!
Liverpool and Hull coming up, great! Would like to have another striker and winger in by then!
Beattie would be great. But what about David Nugent, wouldn’t cost a lot with the turmoil that Pompey are in?!
Hunt and Johnson unfortunatly won’t be joining this club, why would they?
I like the idea of McAnuff, but Eagles NO! He doesn’t even get in the Burnley side.
Let’s hope Saturday was just one of those days, and MM gave them the hairdryer. And finally drops his favourite players!
For Liverpool it’s got to be; Hahnemann, Foley, Berra, Zubar, Hill; Jarvis, Milijas, Castillo, Jones; Doyle & Vokes?!
PLEASE MM DROP YOU FAVOURITES! There not cutting it.

Why would ANY of these, other than Beattie (last big pay day) want to come to Wolves?
I assume they have ambition in the game?
McCarthy might want them but Jez will only buy the cheapest one, if any, he can get.
Stop dreaming, come into the real world, like last saturday, and realise we will be back where we were last season very soon.

This story is a piece of journal nonsense. Because we can be linked with players from every club, but the fact is that I very much doubt we will sign anybody in the jan window because of the lack of ambition from the board. We are planning to go back to the championship, with MM as our manager and another missed opportunity in staying in this league.

Morgan has said he doesnt see wolves getting relegated a bad thing. SHOCKING STATEMENT considering he wanted wolves to challenge the top 10. Well if we had a blue strip and called ourselves birmingham city then we would be. I can not beleive the performance on saturday, the players are not good enough to sustain 90 minutes of top level performance in this league. Karl Henry is not a natural born leader. We need a fighter in that midfield who will create and not a player who does not play the incisive ball. One of the reason we dont score enough is that there is not enough chances been created.

Wolves fans were fantastic on saturday but I wish to know the thoughts of Moxey now, saying we wouldnt do an albion! I would like to know why Morgan 1st says he is fully committed to wolves but sencondly says he doesnt mind relegation. He needs to learn we are supporting a club to stay in the division and not one to see relegated.

Now onto transfer targets, there is no way we can afford wages for Beattie, O’Hara, Murphy, Hunt. Not a chance. We are stuck with this squad and I am sorry to say with the likes of Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea & Man U as our next 4 home league games, the future is bleak!

MM is a 1 trick pony, He needs to be sacked, END OF!

Remember the chants “if Beattie can play for england so can I” ……you are seeing the real signs of a club in turmoil and decline – a club that lacks a strategy. Why do we need a striker? We have 4 who get bugger all supply with the exception of SEB who is always falling over. We need folk in midfield and defense to stop the leaks/ mistakes. Take any top manager first thing they do is stop the goals going in. Pathetic response. Now I know we are doomed.

Financial ruin guarantees league 1 football (or worse) – financial prudence means that (heaven forbid) we do go down we’re in a strong position to come straight back – Morgan might have a few quid but he’s not in the league of the owners of the big clubs (or more correctly their ability and willingness to borrow). He is, however, a solid bloke who loves his football and wants to do the best for the club and the fans – not to make a few quid or go off on a vanity trip at our expense. I don’t mind MM,JM,SM spending a few quid in January but not at the expense of the financial future of the club – I for one don’t want our club to be owned by a non-existent Saudi Prince or an American overdraft – give me another year in the Championship anytime over that route!

        2) Success on the pitch will help finance the Club. We need to invest to progresss. There is no point being a wealthy Championship Club and there is no guarantee we will get promoted again, especailly with the lack of ambition that runs so deeply through the club

        3) Despite our fan base/size compared to our local rivals, we have the least recent success. Compare us to Brum, Stoke and other teams not the few that have been taken over by disinterested money men. Jury is still out on Morgan’s intent – he hasn’t commited anything yet.

          2) I’m afraid success on the field does NOT finance the club substantially from where we are today. The ground is pretty much full now so no significant increase in gate receipts – we might sell a few more shirts but not lots more – and we might get a few more televised games but again not a quantum leap in income. Funding now is pretty much as good as it gets so then you’re faced with the option of either borrowing big or hoping for a billionaire who will stick around – - cutting your cloth to fit is, in my view, the only viable long term option – unless I missed some other big source of income from winning more games?

There is a fine and achievable balance between success and sustainability. This requires a good manager to invest wisely and have the necessary skills to keep the team in the Prem – on current evidence not happening! It’s great to see Mol full, the fans are there but, if relegated we can not assume to get promoted anytime soon and attendances are likely to fall significantly – the loss of this income and TV dosh etc may well see us destined as a mediocre fizzy pop team – tragic. Also we do not need to borrow – £25 mil in the bank, players that can be sold and Morgan’s £30mil.

Murphy would probably be a fringe player a la Halford, not what we need. To spend 6.5mill on Johnson would probably be a bit too risky for Morgan to agree to as no doubt £4mil would get Hunt and he’s scored goals at this level for several seasons. I think Beattie would also be a great signing as Ebanks looks like he wouldn’t score in a you know what at the minute. Yes he’s getting on now but this man knows what it takes to score, ok not at this level but when you can score you should be able to score in any league.

Follow that with resizing the pitch so our wingers have the room to show what we know they can do.

Finally invest in a decent proper left back. Wardy has done ok at times but only with Jarvo’s help, once MM took him off on Saturday N’Zogbia ran down the wing almost at will. Even if you do think Ward is the answer, what happens when he gets injured/suspended? Big George? Mancienne? Friend looked ok at Man U. IMO if Malone is as good as they say then how about giving him a half or the whole game against Palace and let’s see how he does? If he doesn’t perform then sadly we may be out of the cup but we know he’ll have to be “one for the future” as they say.

So how come we ended up with all average Championship players or average players from abroad. Yet again we were told we wont make the same mistakes again, this time we will pay whatever it takes for the ‘Right Player’ and we will pay what we think each player is worth and not stick to a wage structure. Going Down!

David, perhaps you have your head in the clouds and believe that the Wolves are in the top 4 instead of the bottom 4? Well take a good, long look at the PL table, it will tell you we have the poorest goals scored in the division and then take a look at our upcoming fixtures and you will understand, that is if you are intelligent enough, to work out for yourself that we are in deep trouble!
If we cannot score goals but the opposition do then we lose, no points – comprendez?
The squad we have is lightweight, has no leader on or it seems off the pitch, is only Championship class and that is where we will be going if McCarthy & co do not bring in reinforcements to keep us up.
Does that clarify the situation for you and can you now understand why so many Wolves fans, supporters, doom mongers, call us what you like, are so concerned as to what could happen if we do not do something pretty damn quick!
The transfer window will close soon and so far Wolves have been connected with players aplenty but have yet to sign even one!
McCarthy says he is quite happy with the squad probably because he, Morgan and Moxey have already decided that Championship football is more our level and within budget, so they will make plenty of noise about signing players but in reality will do nothing – as is usual!
McCarthy was given a reprieve when getting lucky by winning the Championship but he will not be so fortunate should we go down, the fans will make sure of that by ‘voting with their feet’ and finding other, cheaper things to do on Saturday afternoons than being bored to death by a Wolves team totally inept and incapable of holding it’s own in the PL.

Think about it fellow Wolves fans, we could have gained no points from those 5 home games but we gained 1 point. Our manager is a genius.

Look, i went to the match on staurday, we played just like we did against BRUM. When will the players learn its consistency required. Hopefully we will now do the same and go 3 game unbeaten…..i hope ….i hope. Why not try a punt for Robbie Keane on loan, surely if he loves wolves he will play for half the wages..loyality goes a long way. Seriously, a draw against liverpool would be good, however, a win would be fantastic. Get Van N on loan. Dont blame the strikers (SEB) blame the so called wingers we have THEY are not consistent and the delivery is poor. Why not try Mil up front put Manci in midfield……

Beattie has had a good scoring record in the past.If they were to sign him,he may be a good stopgap player. All we seem to be doing is putting sticking plaster on the problem.I fo feel that there are those in the club who are not genuinely committed to Wolves being a Premiership club.If we are to be a premiership club we have to do it properly. However Wolves have a history of having a bargain basement mentality.Quality players don’t want to come to Molineux because it is a downward career move. The club needs to decide what they want to do.If not move aside and lets get people who are more committed.

im dissapointed with the team selection more than anythin, i cant turn on the plyers who sweated blood for us last year and gave us so many good days out, they arnt good enough but they arnt gonna say no when they get selected , out of position most of the time, karl henry is ok but he has stopped actually tackling anyone , when he gets the ball he looks to play it to the centre backs who always end up booting it cus they are under pressure, he needs to take responibility himself, look at mancienne when he gets the ball he automatically moves forward with it, sometimes henry has the chance to do this but just turns in a circle and plays defenders into trouble, i also think we need a couple of nasty players like hunt and beattie cus we seem to let teams walk all over us, we arnt in anyones faces,

People- ask yourself the question. Why did the young lad that scored for Wigan choose them over Wolves? Answer – coaching and management even though we always have 25000+ at a home game and they have one man and his dog as spectators!!!.

Pompey may go down not because of playing ability but due to other financial issues. However, Bolton will get better thanks to Coyle and West Ham will pull out of the relegation zone. That leaves us in the dumper!!!

we will sign nobody of any importance this window, the team will struggle on and we will just finish in the relegation places with the team we have.

we are simply not good enough as a team and i dont think that is down to what has been spent, rather the way the team have been managed.

I’m surprised at the amount of Wolves fans that know where we will be at the end of the season based upon losing one game to a Wigan side who have been building and consolidating their team over the last five years. The same team that beat Aston Villa at the beginning of the season at Villa, a team that finished five places and seventeen points ahead of them the season before.

We don’t have a god-given right to beat any team and we have already taken three points off them so now we’re square.

I still have faith and think and hope that we will be alright.

Spot on, agree 100%! Surely the Wigan match was a major disappointment, but not end of campaign. We’ve already had some dismal performances this season – like B’ham – followed by a few wins and points gained, even if the team selection and tactics have baffled some of us.

You can learn something now, if you concentrate. If we score less goals than anybody else and concede lots of goals we won’t win matches! That’s why people who understand the game are all saying the same thing. Stop believing what Moxey tells you.

Auckland Wolf, I suggest you read all about Beattie on Wikipedia and you will see that his scoring record is not as good as you seem to believe. He has scored many of his goals in the second tier but we are talking Premier League here and he has scored only 2 goals to date and even Ebanks-Blake has scored 1 goal, so perhaps we should continue playing him?
Leave Beattie at Stoke and sign someone who has a proven record in the PL – The cost? Who cares what it costs, do we want to remain in the PL or not?
What is being forgotten is that the higher the finishing position in the PL the more money each club receives, so whatever we spend will be compensated for at the end of the season – go down and we will receive peanuts and that will buy us peanut salaried players!

I would also like to see another winger, Ledley, Johnson, Routledge somebody with raw pace to run at full backs. Castillo and Henry must start V Liverpool to stop them playing and Berra must be restored as Mancienne is not ready to play at centre half, get him at left back until we sign the above. When will MM realise that Doyle will be worn out by the end of the season unless he provides him with support.. E.Blake is not Premiership class, yet MM keeps playing him. It is not fair to the player, his confidence is in tatters, he freezes when he realises the ball is coming his way. Milijas is a creative player and and whilst he should be capable of fighting for the ball, his role is make himself avaiable to create openings. As yet, MM has failed to provide the support he needs.

MM uses the long ball game and it is obvious he does not understand how to play it. I have witnessed the long ball game played by Wolves during the 1940′s 1950′s and in later decades. To play this game you need tactically aware players of quality, ie, P. Broadbent Bill Wright, Bill Slater. E Clamp
. Would Mike Baily have put up with the players when he was captain, cetainly not, even the rock of that team, Frank Munroe was sunjected to Baily’s drive.
When I look at C. Henry he has all the physical attributes required. Pity he cannot pass a ball. Bring back Eddie Clamp.

I have been in the dressing room when S. Cullis had threatened Armageddon to his players. He would have probably transferred this lot before half time!

When I see the Wolves players of today, I think of first line of a poem. “We have no time to stand and stare building.

I believe we have the players to keep us up.
I do not believe we have a manager who knows how to use those players.
I am sick of seeing strikers at LB centrebacks at RB etc etc.
You must play to the strength of your players.
Vokes should be given a run in with Doyle. At present it is like playing with only ten men every week as Ebanks Blake is simply and regrettably, not up to the task.Whether this is because he appears a bit lazy, or whether it is becuase we are playing completely differently to last year, I am not sure.
Foley is not a right midfielder, he is a right back. Why play him out of position?
McCarthy is tactically inept, he seems to have coached Jarvis into not taking on players and crossing.
I work hard and have had a season ticket for 23 years consecutively, but have to sacrifice so much else to watch wolves. I am really beginning to wonder if it is worth the sacrifice.

Agree with you about all accept Jarvis. The simple reason he doesn’t take players on was demonstrated most effectively on Saturday.
If Jarvis goes bombing down the wing then there is no-one to protect Wardy if the opposition regain the ball.

Once Jarvo went off against Wigan N’Zogbia left Wardy standing way too often (the second goal was a direct result of this IMO).

So in my mind we should definitely(although I doubt we will do both of these):-

Sign a recognised left back who knows this league.

Resize the pitch to allow our wingers the space they had last season.

Once these items have been addressed and Jarvo STILL doesn’t take his man on and cross the ball often enough, that’s when we can criticise him. At the moment he is being used more as a wing back that is told to defend most of the time. Whether he is being told to do this or he’s doing it himself to help that side of the pitch out I don’t know but it’s what is happening at the moment.

Before McCarthy and Morgan we were a championship club going nowhere. Now we are in the Premier League and still have as much chance of staying up as we have of going down so why all the negativity? Yes McCarthy can be frustrating with some of his decisions and has his favourites but it’s the same with any manager. I dont understand what he has done to deserve all the stick – he’s been more succesful than any other Wolves manager that I have seen. We got promoted and expectations went completely out of proportion – we are an established championship club trying to make the step up, all we need to do is finish 17th and it’s been a successful season. I dont understand why Wolves fans are so fickle and negative all the time – all I hear near me at the matches is moaning and moaning I wish fans would get behind the team. Look at Stoke, they are a worse team than us IMO but their great home form is because their fans get behind the team. Same with Burnley. Wolves fans should start supporting the team and the manager a bit more.

the fact is steve morgan is something like the 27th richest man in the uk…this doesnt mean he will chuck money about…it means he will run the club like he ran his business#
he wont chuck money at it like the haywoods did
he will spend as promised for the right players at the right time..he wont be bullied into a knee jerk buy for the sake of it
it wouldnt shock me if he has said in private we wont spend because we will waste money as we are doomed
it also wouldnt shock me if he splashed out 20 million in the next week..but if he does it wont be for gambles and if we cant attract the right people he wont spend
i do believe though that he has the clubs best interest at heart
we need to give him time …how much did sir jack plough into the prem team?
as for jez he is good at what he is paid to do simple as he isnt paid to be liked..he has a budget and orders t follow
does he love wolves? as much as he loved stoke..he is just waiting for a bigger club to call
as for mick we need to show our club our love and stand united behind our club including management..he is ours and he has done well with what he has to work with

Danwolf, are you McCarthy or Moxey in disguise? Does cheering prevent a striker from missing an open goal from six feet?

Does cheering prevent a team playing like a bunch of middle-aged pub players on Sunday morning?

Does cheering prevent a muppet from buying players who are either useless or not used or both?

Does cheering prevent management telling you its “job done”, then “we are still learning”, then “we would take avoiding relegation”

Before someone receives support they must be deserving of support. If you continually screwed up in your job, would your manager keep patting you on the back, paying your wages and allow you to screw up week in week out and lose the business money?

How are the team/management not deserving of support? This is one of the most promising Wolves teams in the 20 years I’ve been watching and we are playing Premier League football, and apart from a couple of dissapointing performances I think we have have performed well. I was just trying to make the point that I don’t understand why everyone seems to think we’re in some sort of crisis – the stituation we are in now is better than it has been for years. I agree that McCarthy can be a frustrating manager but he has achieved more at this club than most other managers have and despite some signings that havent worked he has signed some good players for us (name me a manager that has only ever made good signings?) You are all entitled to your opinions I just was trying to point out that constantly getting on the backs of the players and the management is not going to help anyone.

So we have one of the most promising teams for 20 years eh?

A manager whose team talk suggests to the players that if they lose it doesn’t matter as they might win next time.

A manager who never plays the same 11 twice and with players out of natural positions. I wouldn’t be surprised if we find the groundsman playing centre forward with EBlanks mowing the grass. Probably a good move given EBlanks record.

Strikers? who couldn’t score if they were the only ones on the pitch.

Who was the first team to give the bottom strugglers (Portsmouth) their first three points and away from home?

Only a couple of poor performances? You obviously were absent from Stamford Bridge. Embarrassing or embarrassing, then Portsmouth, then Birmingham, then Wigan – yeah only a couple of poor performances.

Mick says be “patient with January signings”. How much patience does Mick & the Wolves management think the Wolves fans have. Always the bridesmaids never the bride eh!

No money Hull have picked up Zaki & it looks like they will also pick up Mido….how can they add to their already inflated (if you believe) wage/salary bills….have money Wolves pick up nothing, or make a couple of token efforts & then wait until all the other EPL teams have done their business & of course we will be left with the crap & scraps no one else wants, sound familiar?? If we were serious about new signings we should have been negotiating in November/December to get them in on January the 1st to climatise, familiarise themselves with the club etc ready to start playing…I’m so frustrated!!

Bluenoses have done their deals exceptionally well again…I guess we can safely say all this clap trap about us signing Hunt, Beattie, Johnson, Houllier (yes I know he is a manager, but we need a change of manager) is what it is, just sensational journalism to keep the fans interested & something to have a forum about. If we were serious the tabled offers would be bitten off by the club we have offered whether they were for sale or not. Every player at every club has a price, even our own KD. That is why B’ham have got the deals done.

With Gold, Sullivan & Brady now looking to hold the reigns at West Ham you can safely take them out of any relegation dog fight because they will certainly be on the up. How good would it have been to have had Karen Brady in a management role here at Wolves.
