Wolves 0 Wigan 2
Saturday 16th January 2010, 5:10PM GMT.
Ten-man Wolves produced a poor shadow of their recent displays after their third Premier League defeat in a row saw them fall to survival rivals Wigan.
Goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann kept Wolves in the game after saving a first-half penalty from Hugo Rodallega that saw Richard Stearman sent off, in a game that was long over before the end.
The American also saved a string of other efforts that made him a convincing Man of the Match for Mick McCarthy’s side, including a one-on-one from Rodallega late on.
James McCarthy, who turned down a move to Molineux for Wigan in the summer, scored for the Latics with an hour gone on his full Premier League debut.
Charles N’Zogbia tucked home the second in the 73rd minute to seal it as Wolves failed to get to grips with Wigan’s two dangermen, Rodallega and N’Zogbia.
The home side started on top but ended the first-half clinging on, after Stearman was sent off for needlessly tugging McCarthy’s shirt for his second bookable offence.
Wolves were a man down for 28 minutes, before referee Howard Webb evened things up when Hendry Thomas walked for a second yellow card on 73, following another foul on Stephen Ward.
It mattered little in the end, banishing memories of the bright start that saw aq Nenad Milijas 25-yard free-kick deflected wide, before N’Zogbia’s drive forced Hahnemann into a diving save at his near post.
The goalkeeper was busy again soon after when gathering Thomas’s 30-yard shot at the second attempt.
But Wolves should really have taken the lead when Sylvan Ebanks-Blake was presented with a golden chance in the 19th minut,e after Milijas put him clean through.
With just goalkeeper Chris Kirkland to beat, the Championship Golden Boot winner poked inches wide.
Ebanks-Blake tried to atone with a towering header on 28 minutes, but could only find the side-netting from Ward’s hanging cross.
Wigan came increasingly into the game through Rodellega, who forced Hahnemann to smother after getting the wrong side of Michael Mancienne on the half hour.
The striker forced a diving save from Hahnemann from 22 yards, before hitting the post when letting fly from similar range.
Jody Craddock then stabbed over on his 200th appearance for Wolves, but much more drama was to follow as the half ended with mixed fortunes for the hosts.
Stearman, who was booked for catching Maynor Figueroa in the 13th minute, saw red in time added on after tugging McCarthy’s shirt, as both players chased a long ball going away from the area.
Thankfully for the hosts, Hahnemann saved Rodallega’s fierce low spot-kick.
McCarthy went on to emerge as a pivotal figure after calmly slotting home after Hahnemann’s point-blank block from Rodallega, when N’Zogbia had beaten Ward to cross before Thomas saw red.
Substitute Chris Iwelumo forced Kirkland into palming away a volley late on but it was too little, too late for Wolves.
Latest Blog — Derby humiliation – but is it really time for change?
Sorry seems to be the hardest word, so the song goes, but Mick McCarthy had no hesitation in using it after one of the most embarrassing defeats seen at Molineux in many a year, writes Wolve blogger Tim Spiers.

Mad Mick, Stupid Stearman, I’ll bet O’Hara and other STARS are lining up to sign for Wolves.
Sorry boys, definate Fizzy Pop League next year, unless Morgan gets rid of Mad Mick and Moxey soon.
Just to remind some of you simple supporters it was MIGHTY WIGAN we lost to today.

A six-pointer and they bottle out.I guess somethings never change!

Bit unfair on Wigan they are established in the prem whereas we are the great pretenders.

Blake was so very slow to every ball and all players so negative in midfield and also playing Jarvis in center midfield not on the wing means Mick has lost the plot. I think its time for the tree M’s to become two. Mick and O’Conner are clearly not up to this level so its time to change now while we still have a chance. Sorry Mick but you are no good as a Prem manager.

For once I’m in full agreement with you & I too left early.
Stearman,Manncienne,Jarvis,Milijas,Foley & SEB were all V poor today.
We just didn’t turn up at all & for me Wigan are a poor team & were there for the taking, but were worthy winners on the day & that just shows how bad we were.
I’ve just read McCarthy’s comments on the Wolves website & he blames everyone else other than himself who for me is the only person to blame, the bloke is an arrogant joke!!! Couple of questions………………
Why break up the Craddock/Berra partnership???
Why bring on a player at half time who has hardly played for 12 months???
Why did your team not appear to be ‘up for it’ from the first whistle to the last, for what I saw as the biggest game of the season to date especially with all of teams around facing tough games this weekend, where is the motivation????
Wigan payed with one centre forward today who ran us raged, I bet Manncienne is still twistin & turning looking for him now!!!
Really disapointed & concerned.
Mannciene is one of the few qulity players we have, his mistake did lead to the 2nd goal but copmared to his other championship teamates – he was ok.
Are you having a laugh???
He looked what he is, an inexperienced pro, he was awful & seems to be out of his depth at the moment.
Not being argumentetive, thats just how I saw it, he got caught the wrong side of the forward about half a dozen times.
Brighton wolf, spot on, but he’s a centre midfielder !!!!! Jarvis is a winger, I could go on her but you get the idea. Drop Blake to give the guy a chance, 11 starts and no goal not good reading. But on the buy a player front, who ?? no one is for sale and any targets no one will want to sell !!!! Stearman let me and everyone down, been one of best players this season so far. Its far from over yet, just made things just a tad harder now.
You should be ashamed of yourself.

Why? For paying £500 to see us get turned over with no fight at home to Wigan? Jog on.

Birmingham all over again. McCarthy hasnt got a clue. When we go a man down against a team with a 5 man midfield he changes our midfield to a 3! This leaves the two full backs totally exposed and surprise surprise this is how their first goal came about. He should have either put Doyle into the right of midfield and played 441 or take ebanks blake off (and never put him back on) and put Surman on the wing at play 441. Then all the players have to do is dig in, give the wigan players no time on the ball and try and get a goal on the break.
Signings are essential now, and good ones at that. Forget Debt, Forget wage caps Survival in this league is the most important thing. Banjani, Danny Murphy, Reo-Coker, hunt, Ledley, Johnson, Anton Ferdinand. There are more good premiership players available which will cost us but it wont cost us relegation with these players. Get your check book out Morgan otherwise we will go down. And we as the fans will never forgive you if we go down.
Sorry, I think you are wrong. While this no-hoper is managing us we have no chance of survival.
McCarthy is out of his depth! There are experienced managers out there and 2 weeks left of the transfer window.
Sack McCarthy now and give us a chance of surviving in the Premiership.
Anything else is just papering over the cracks!
Incidentally, where are the happy clappers now?
They will be out shortly with the usual derogatory remarks, cant see the woods through the trees.

mate like i said it was a lot like the Birmingham match, but after that match we got a few wins in which we must do now. Hull is now definetly a must win (if it wasn’t one before) but we cant actually give up hope. If we can make a couple of signings we may still yet have a chance, just depends on which ones he makes, spend 6.5 mill you get doyle who I think didnt do too badly today, but if you spend one or two you get halford crap

Too many changes from the Man City game… Should have left Mancienne in the middle of the park with Henry, put Jarvis right side and Milijas tucked in left. He has to play as I cannot see anyone else knocking any sort of quality in the box. 8 of the side played for us in the Championship last season and where McLeish down the road brought 7 in and plays the 7, we sign 9 and play 3… I also wish when Mick is interviewed, he wouldn’t respond to a question asked, by asking the reporter a question!!!!

Uninspiring stuff again. Any team who watches a video of this and any other game for that matter can see what they are going to be up against. Usual tactics of pass it around the back then launch it up to a less then towering front two. SEB is looking overweight and out of the game, too often he is still climbing to his feet when a potential second phase ball heads his way. A bad miss today is not going to help his confidence but the build up to this opportunity has to be the way forward if we are to stand any chance of scoring. Definite sending off did not help but we looked uncertain at the back particularly Manciene who flapped at a few. Need to buy to change things – it would be a travesty if we cannot compete in Premier 2 and stay up to build again next year.
Mighty Wigan? Yes the same Wigan that have spent 5yrs in the Premier League. Still there to take the mick out of all you “big” clubs.

Mighty Wigan??? You conveniently forgot that we turned you over 1-0 at your place when it was 11 versus 11.

How we pick this team after Tranmere is mind bogling?
Henry, Stearman, Craddock,Ward, Berra, have in the last few games pulled shirts and players back it was only a matter of time before one of them was sent off. No creativity, forward passing, leader on the field you only have to look at stats to see what is wrong, and to keep playing the ball in the air to two small strikers seems such a waste of time.
At least this should meen we play Foley in his best position at RB, I have posted before that a major midflied reshaping needs to be carried out and a Captain / Leader is required without that we are only going one way I am sorry to say.
Totally agree how can anybody have so much of the ball(Henry)and do nothing with it..Spot on with Foley….Dont understand why Beera never played Manciene to easy to knock of ball.
Agreed, I’ll be glad to see Foley back at RB.
Plus I’d like to see Castillo given a chance in place of Henry.
What we desperately lack is players willing to run at the opposition – and once Jarvis was off, we had no width either. I suspect that taking off SEB would have been a better move.
Agreed. Stupid and needless lapses of discipline have cost us manpower a couple of times so far this season. Is this the best tactic we can resort to? Why can’t we take the game to them and put them under pressure like they’re doing to us? Would be interested to know what Mick thinks about the needless additional pressure we bring on ourselves through our bad discipline. No class.
Another poor disjointed performance,2 many Championship footballers pretending to be premiership class.Led by a Championship manager clueless in team selection,Awful tactical substitutions,Fed up of saying it keep changing the team playing players out of position to give them a game can only have one result.
To all you who think Ward has adapted well at left back then i am sorry you are totally deluded,He was torn apart today totally caught out for both goals.
Wigan came here with the worst goals against column in the prem and no away wins since the opening day.15 shots on target to our 4 says it all,Only Pompey have lost more,Bolton 1 point behind 3 games in hand.
Unless Morgan wakes up pretty quickly then relegation looms loud and clear.
One word to describe that performance- disgraceful.
Mick must go- ince in.
Yeah, if Ince had been coach for this game, we would have won at least 6-0…
zzzzzzzzzzz
Report abuse
Ince would not be playing a converted striker at left back – Ward was at fault for both goals yesteray. N’Zogbia tore him apart in the second half when he didn’t have Jarvis to help him out.

ANYBODY WOULD BE BETTER THAN MUPPET MICK!!

Yeah, yeah – but you said we wouldn’t get promoted with Mick in charge, so you have no credibility.
You calling for Mick’s head is like death and taxes – unpleasant and unavoidable.

Oh dear
I am sorry but if that game doesn’t point out the desperate need for a proven goalscorer then I don’t knowwhat will…..
We were desperate….very very poor
I am just about getting fed up of the players giving statements via the E and S saying “we are going to do it now” they need to do their talking on the pitch.
MM team selections get more bizare…is Foley a right back or right winger? Manicienne a centre half or midfielder? Square pegs in round holes!
4 shots on target today at home against the team that has leaked more goals than any other premier team……..what is gooing on?
MM – take a long hard look at yourself – you have assembled this team and spent alot of money putting it together….you dont look like you knw a decent centre half yet you have signed 7 and none are any good and you also played there yourself!!!

Another exile here. Sounds like the Babbys are done for. I’ve said for a long time if we could turn it around by Christmas we stood a chance of staying with the grown ups. Christmas has been and gone and unfortunately it looks like so have Wolves. Seems that this Morgan character is happy with the “terrible two” who are running things so down we go. Sad, very sad. As the other English Exile said, Mighty WIGAN!! Good grief!!
This is the first game I have ever walked out early from.
I am speachless as to Micks tactics.
Why did Jarvis come off at half time and not Blake???? We had ten men and needed to do the extra running which Jarvis does well. Blake is not a Premiership player, he has now scored 1 goal in 11 matches from the spot. How many other strikers have a goal ratio that bad and still start??
We ended the game with a left back on the left wing, a right back on the right wing.
Where was Berra?? and no he wasnt injured.
Bottom line: No committment, no passion and unfortunately very little flair and ability shown against one of the Premiers ordinary teams.
After been positive all season I now have that sinking feeling. We need a Premier standard manager to take us forward……Mick is not the man.
Note to Jez Moxey, you usually get what you pay for………remember that this January.
Inexplicable. The key to our recent good performances has been bite in the tackle, closing people down and then move forward quickly. There was no bite today. They looked half asleep and in the second half, bar a good 10 min period, looked like they didn’t care. I just don’t understand what happened today. Liverpool must be quaking in their boots…..

what recent good performences, last 3 league games won 0 lost 3 scored 0 conceeded 7 and in between an unconvincing f.a cup win against tranmere. Sorry but when we went down to ten men and having saved a penalty we should have consolidated and gone 4.4.1 and took blake off, later in the game when they went down to ten men then we could be mpre attacking, i,m now gonna sulk all week and make the wife,s life a misery.

I love Wolves and will defend them against anyone, but i’m really starting to get really worried!!!
When we were promoted the one reason pundits were giving for us to stay up is that we will score enough goals!!!
We don’t even make enough chances!!!
There are a few in this squad that can hold their head up high!
Hannemann – brilliant, thank you Marcus
Craddock – showing the younger ones how to do it!
Berra – Showing real touches of quality
Foley – has been difficult for him playing in a different position and when we’ve had players sent off
Henry – fights for everything even though he isn’t the best
Kightly (when fit) – hopefully he will make the difference
Doyle – Tries hard and makes our few chances, he has made goals through pure effort!
We need goals, and to create goals!
We need at least 1 left back, 1/2 striker, 1 class centre midfielder and 1/2 wingers.
The guys we’re on about are realistic targets and even if we go down we will probably re-coup the money we paid for them! Also, if we take a chance and it doesn’t work we will get decent money for Stearman, Doyle, Kightly and Berra!
Buy:
Stephen Hunt – £4 million (pay the £4-5 million because he will still be worth £5 million at the end of the season)
and knows how to get the best from Doyle
Adam Johnson – £3 million (he has been class for a couple of seasons, he scores goals and creates chances because he runs at people. £3 will easily get him)
James Beattie – loan (hopefully he wouldn’t cost too much and he kept Stoke up last year. Won’t get much back if we bid for him as he is older but to stay up it’d be worth it)
Jermaine Beckford – £2 million (no-matter what anybody thinks of him, he scores goals and has confidence in his ability – he will take the shot that Ebanks-Blake is too scared to do right now and a £2 million gamble if worth if because if we go down he will score a load in Championship or sell him for £1 million plus.
Jamie O’Hara – loan (he was in Tottenham team a few months ago and was Portsmouth’s best player – get in on loan at least)
Nicky Shorey – loan (they were talking about him for England not long ago and has turned Forest’s fortunes around this season!)
I’m saying we need them all of them – and they would come here!
Let’s get them in;
I want
Marcus Hannemann – excellent commitment
Kevin Foley
Jody Craddock (Mancienne as cover)
Christophe Berra
Nicky Shorey (Loan)
Stephen Hunt (£4 million)
Jamie O’Hara (Loan)
Karl Henry
Adam Johnson (£3 million)
Kevin Doyle
Jermaine Beckford (£2 million)
Subs;
Wayne Hennessey
Ronald Zubar
Richard Stearman
Nenad Milijas
Michael Kightly
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake
James Beattie (Loan)
This would be a good mid-table team with a view to getting better. Some might argue about Beckford, but i defy anybody to find a better team that on a decent budget.
With the 3 loans and 3 buys it would cost 9 million before wages of which most we would be able to re-coup.
Please spend because i’m fed up of being miserable on a Saturday evening (and so is my wife).
Sorry Mate the only place you will see your team is on a Play Station
James Beattie good shout and agree with what you are saying; but, it aint going to happen with regards of bringing in a number of players
MM is a good Championship manager; and we have a decent Championship squad, but the burning question is how can this ‘young & hungry’ squad be ‘tired’???
What on earth is Tony Daley and his staff doing with the players to get them fit???
Tony Daley and fitness in the same sentence… 40 odd minutes in the old gold and black, game over.
Seriously though, check out any centre forward in the prem – 6 foot plus and 12 and half stone – Wanderers number 9, 5 foot 5 and 14 stone. It should have been sorted in the break he carries to much weight and with an ass like J-Lo he ain’t never going to cut it.

Definitely agree about James Beattie. He is a proven performer in The Prem and scores goals – something we are desperately short of right now.
Adam Johnson would be a good addition as Jarvis is just not good enough at this level whilst I would like to see Reo-Coker here to add some nous to the midfield.
We are not talking about huge finances to bring these 3 in – but if we don’t do something like this we are going down !
We started the game with 10 men!!! This team has carried Blake for god knows how many games now!! He is to slow & overweight! Why McCarty won’t start a game with someone else up front like Vokes, Mierhofer or whoever is fit is beyond me! They can’t do any worse can they?
That was probably the worst performance we have had to date.
SEB MUST be dropped and loaned out, he is either really low on confidence or lacking any belief that he can score in this division. Pretty much ANY other striker in this league would have scored that one don’t you think? If Doyle was in that position we would have been 1 up, no doubt about it. I’m sorry SEB but as far as clear cut chances go that one is probably the best you’ll get to score in open play in this league I’m afraid. Unless we sign a decent striker soon let’s give Vokes a chance up with Doyle and see how he does (more than just one game though), SEB with Doyle is NOT working, personally I’d like Keogh with him but he is not fit yet and will have to build match fitness before he can be effective. The sad fact is I reckon the out of touch SEB will be with Doyle again for the next match. I wonder how many decent managers in this league would keep playing a guy who is painfully short on confidence in front of goal?
Without doubt the worst thing that IMO cost us ANY chance of getting anything from this one was Stearman’s UNBELIEVABLY STUPID shirt pull on McCarthy. What was he thinking?!? Yes the penalty was saved but we STILL went down to 10 men. I really hope not but is this what the players are being taught to do as he’s not the only one that does it is he? The fact that most times it results in at least a yellow card should be enough reason NOT to do that. Twice now a stupid action like that has cost us dearly, Liverpool and now Wigan!!! For god’s sake STOP IT, it’s killing us in games to lose a man in such a cheap way!!
You may argue that they also went down to 10 men but by that time it was already too late. We were already chasing the game at that point anyway.
Wigan FULLY deserved this win and if not for a great penalty save by Hahnemann it would have been more than just 2 goals against us!!!
I REALLY hope we sign some quality players in this transfer window or I fear the worst, I think it’s fairly obvious that the majority of our players simply aren’t good enough for league in the position we are in. Somehow though I doubt we will and anyway who wants to come and fight relegation till the end of the season on the wages we probably pay payers?
That performance simply IS not and SHOULD NOT be acceptable against a team in a similar position to us.
I will also say that I have tried to be as positive as I can, I am Wolves till I die but unless things change and FAST we are in TROUBLE. Tell me I’m negative, but I’m just commenting on what I see and it’s not good.
I really hope my team proves me wrong!!!

I am reluctantly having to call for a change in manager, that game was a total disgrace and the cause was the manager. There were changes he could have made and he didn’t have the wit or experience to handle it!
Unless McCarthy is sacked immediately we won’t survive in the Premiership. Get rid now and we can recruit an experienced manager who will still have 2 weeks to sign the players who can keep us up.
Don’t let McCarthy squander any more money on players who are no better than those we already have. Mick can’t cope with players who are out of his class, he needs journeymen around him who he can handle.

Poor Result. It appears the manager yet again cannot pick players in their right positions .This causes major uncertainty within the team. Wigan at home should have seen 3 points .They have the worst goals conceded away from home in the league. We need an injection of fresh blood in a proven striker, midfielder and centre half very quickly. This is one of the poorest bottom halves of the premier league for some seasons. With the right team selection , the right signings(these should have been stronger in the summer by the way) then premier league survival can be achieved

I think today was a Reality Check for all those who think the current squad are good enough to survive. Wigan weren’t necessarily THAT much better than us in general terms, but they were far more decisive, incisive and professional when it cam to the crunch. As things stand, the bulk of our squad (let alone the 1st 11), look like Championship players out of their depth- as epitomised most acutely by SEB- but he really shouldn’t be allowed to become a target for the Boo Boys. This was surely not just a desperately damaging result, but a truly discouraging performance. Can we really break this pattern of results which see us dropping points against our most obvious rivals in the battle to survive? We surely can’t expect too many more susprises like the Spurs game between now and the end of the Season, so the Hull and West Ham games now demand a return in both instances, or else I fear the game may be up….
Rich 5, you’re spot on mate. You usually get what you pay for and until Mr Morgan releases the millions that were promised to the club when he took over, until we get rid of Moxey (who is no more than an average accountant who should not be allowed near a club like ours), and until we bring in the services of a capable top league manager, we will remain this very average team who are playing in a league way above their combined abilities.
I hate to say this but I think the club has decided that going down is inevitable and acceptable. There’s no other explanation after this performance. Financially probably it is but I think the fans should be told so that we can decide whether or not to bother turning up for games. Someone at the club should explain why we didnt match Wigan’s midfield when we went to 10 men, instead of reducing our midfield to 3? What about the decision to sign midfielders in the summer but play defenders in their positions instead? And what about the decision to stick with SEB when he is clearly out of his depth in this division? The problem now is that the genuine supporters (rather than the idiots like Boring Bob Wolf, Wolvesmod, JIWAL et al) have started to turn. WOLVES WE NEED ANSWERS NOW or you will lose the supporters and we’ve been here too many times before.

Tell me what time are you expect to be home from the rearranged West Ham game on a Tuesday night like myself??
I suggest you look at yourself before you point the finger at others that follow this team through thick and thin only to be served up with that tripe yesterday.

I am really HAPPY that you all realise that we are never going to be a bottom HALF premiership team with MICKO in charge! As that is all we want but this MAN is taking us back from were he brought us!! DOES HE HAVE TO ? NO!Get MARK HUGHES and we may stay up as it is possible WE need the right man in charge.
Under micko we look very poor very poor.
losing, one can accept but to constantly play like HEADLESS chickens is a clear SIGN of poor management.Yes in some games our EFFORTS have got us results and at times the players can work very hard as HEADLESS CHICKENS but this is not enough for survival. The 5 games we have won as been due to the opposition not turning up.I want to thank MICKO and jus add please go.

Apparently stearmans trying to fill neill collins old place in the team. Stupid challenge. Surely foley will play RB for the rest of the season with jarvis on the wing with hunt/kightly or dave edwards when better/halford. Ebanks-blake needs time to sort out his head. We need keogh back as he did the runs like doyle but just didnt score. sylvan is doing neither atm.
So long Sylvan and thanks for all the fish! Surely MM can’t play him anymore. Worse than useless today. Until we sign another striker Iwelume or Vokes must be a better bet. SEB is so out of sorts it would be cruel to keep playing him. Also Stears won’t see the first team for some time. We need to keep 11 on the pitch. Stears is a capable footballer but if he isn’t capable of staying on the pitch he’s no good to us. Should be a blessing in disguise as Foles can now revert to full back-where he was our player of the season last year don’t forget. Surely you need your best players playing in their proper positions? Simples!
I hate agreeing with this reaction but I can’t think of any other way to survive. We need players in with experience and a mangager who can at least put players in the right positions.
SEB has had a chance to prove he can do it and its an emphatic no. I agree with the comment somewhere above, we have had 10 men for the last 10 games as we have been carrying Blake. He is slow, looks unfit and overweight, and even when its on a plate he cant finish. Yeah sure low in confidence but also he doesnt have what it takes to score the goals we need. Hence the worst scoring record in the league.
Going down?? At the moment yes we are.
Morgan, make the change before its too late, todays tactics, personnel and everything was a horror show. Defenders on the wing?? Nothing up front……… Lets try something different please.

Anyone who witnessed the performance at Tranmere will not be surprised at what happened today. Let’s face it, we are nowhere near good enough to compete in the Premiership at either player or Management level. We have nothing to build on. We are becoming embarrassing.
Any player worth having will not be interested in joining a sinking ship. Also, why are we so slow in signing players that we are apparently interested in? Other clubs move in, sign them almost immediately, and we lose out. Message for Management and Players – “Fingers extractem”.

i feel let down again, mick has to go, ebanks is not upto it, i cant believe we get to the prem spend a only 18mill on players like halford, maiehofer (donkey), surman and play a bunch of championship players out of place!.
the whole background staff at the wolves needs to go i’m sick of it, theyve pulled it over our eyes again! thought we were not in this league to make up numbers Morgan! 1st time he opens his trap this season and hes going on about its difficult to sign players in january (yawn), same from moxey, same from mick your all a disgrace to this football club.
back down to the championshit we go, sorry to say it. we bin let down again false promises.
i feel sorry for milijas and doyle, hanneman also, seem to be the only players who dont look out of depth in this league, mancienne was a great prospect until mick started playing him out place, same with foley and the rest. We need a manager who can motivate a team, we should of got alan curbishly in ages ago

I travel 900 miles (round trip) to watch my beloved Wolves from a remote Scottish island(admittedly not every other week!!!) but I am becoming increasingly disillusioned. Mick got us up, certainly, but don’t you all recall the stuttering period last season in the Championship when the promotion seeking teams immediately below us were also going through similar bad patches? Had they secured positive results at that time then Wolves would not even be in the Premier League today!I am sorry to say this but MM’s team selections and tactics fall woefully short of even the basic expectations of a top flight manager. I do not wish to come across as being overly patriotic, but big John ‘Yogi’ Hughes, currently doing a great job at Hibs on the tightest of SPL budgets, would make a fantastic Wolves manager.
Come on Mr Morgan/Moxey: open the purse and get wee Scott McDonald from Celtic and Kris Boyd from Rangers into the team before the end of January. The pair of them would terrify any English Premier League defence, including Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal etc.
SEB and big Chris are way out of their depth at this level. Well, it has been proved, hasn’t it?
And just look at what big Gary Caldwell did today for Wigan.
I rest my case.

Mate, I don’t know anything about the guys you mention, but to continue the theme, I’d happily have Kenny Miller and Lee Naylor back from North of the Border. Miller’s workrate and intelligence would be a boon to Doyle, and for all the barracking he (often inexplicably) received, Naylor was our most effective attacking FB, something we simply haven’t got at the moment- along with any number of other shortcomings!

Went to bed full of optimism and hoping we would put in at least a fighting performance. Having read the posts on here and also the report on the other sites, i am only glad i didn’t have to pay to watch that garbage. I was over in the UK in November and went to the blues game, it was utter rubbish. Probably the WORST Wolves perfromance i have ever seen, Chorley loss, included. The squad at best looks Championship quality. Ebanks-Blake, wouldn’t pay him in washers. Looks overweight, lazy yet still plays (Another McCarthy love child) Foley is not a midfield player, Berra has the turning circle of an oil tanker and looks like he is running in slow motion. Craddock reliable but getting too old and too slow at this level. Rant over, the bottom line is the Manager picks the team, the Manager and coaching staff work with the team all week to prepare for every game. So tell me where does the blame for this debarcal lay, squarely at the feet of Mad Mick, hasn’t got a clue McCarthy, and stupid Terry clip board O’Connor. Get rid now before it is too late. As a life long supporter all Wolves fans ask is a side with players playing in the proper positions willing to give some blood, sweat and tears for the shirt a lot of us would give a right arm to be able to wear. Watched the game and really no surprise that we lost. Wigan wanted it more and we just didnt turn up, B’ham all over again, just pathetic.
I’ve lost any hope of trying to fathom out MM’s
tactics and decisions or should i say lack of them. To put it bluntly MM aint got what it takes and its plain as day anybody can see this.
But what i find even more worrying is the fact that the chairman Mr Morgan has said in an interview, that its not the end of the world if we go down. If this correct and it can be confirmed that he did infact say those words, then he should hang his head in shame.
For me and i dont want to keep bringing this up
MM should have been sacked straight after the Man Utd game. Never in our proud history has a manager made us a laughing stock like he did that night, and if the real truth be known you can bet a few of the players dispised him for that 10 man team change.
One last rant to Mr Morgan, do you have the bottle to be chairman of our club, if YES then sack MM. THE FANS DESERVE BETTER…YOUR SILENCE IS PATHETIC.

Unfortunately, we are lacking in quality. We can’t keep hold of the ball for more than a few passes before someone loses it. No control = no possession = no creative opportunities = 0 goal attempts and 0 goals full stop. The team will struggle to stay up with endeavour alone.
SEB is the shadow of the player he was last year. Time to let someone else have a go as I can’t see him or Iwelumo scoring at this level. We despeartately need more up front. I would give Vokes a go, failing that we need to get a stricker in quickly.
GET THE CHEQUE BOOK OUT OTHERWISE WE ARE GOING DOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is, if Mick does not bring in quality PL experienced players in the time left in this window, we as may as well accept relegation because obviously we are not good enough to stay up!
Wigan are a team in a similar position to us in that they are also in the bottom of the PL, or at least were before today.
If we cannot beat these type of teams and at home at that, then we are doomed!
There is no way we can expect to turn over the better teams, so beating the Wigan’s etc is the only way we can stay up but if we can’t… then Championship football will be heading our way yet again next season – and haven’t we played enough games in that league already?
With 2 more weeks or so left of the transfer window and so far little or no signs of anybody signing for us. Like all clubs, our name has been mentioned as enquiring about this and that player but so far…nowt!
We want to see OUR team stay in the PL but the longer nothing happens, the more likely we are going to be faced with relegation.
Get your fingers out the 3M’s, put some decent offers on the table, not excessive but decent and bring in players who can save our season for come Easter and that is when the men are sorted from the boys, we do not want to be down there with also rans because that is where we seem to be heading.

Now I am not a Football Manager but when we went down to 10 men, I presumed MM would play Foley at RB, take off Blake, put a midfielder on and play Doyle up front on his own!
What does he do? plays only 3 in midfield and we are then doomed!
I am sorry…time for MM to go.. I dont think he has a clue.
Everyone goes on about the ‘great’ display at Spurs. I was there but it was like a Champoinship side getting a goal early and hanging on for 90 mins.

I agree that McCarthy has lost it. He did not know what to do and totally blew it.
It is obvious that the team have no confidence in him and most of the fans have now made up their minds that he has to go, I don’t mean the armchair fans, I mean those who go and witness the torture!
No doubt the Happy Clappers will be out in the week accusing the real fans of being traitors and we should all stay true to McCarthy.
I am a Wolves supporter, not a McCarthy supporter, and I agree that he is not good enough for the Wolves in the Premiership.

you are 100% right we were saying the same. How MM thought he could save the game with 3 in midfield when 4 had failed against their 5 I don’t understand. I thought SEB would hold the ball up or perhaps ‘run’ back when the ball was lost but it just did not happen. The two goals came from Ward’s full back area again! MM has got to stop playing his mates who are clearly not Prem standard and also stop playing people out of position if we can see it why can’t Morgan. Morgan needs to act now before we lose against Hull and West Ham.

I got up at 2 am to what that rubbish, I was looking on foxtel for other things to watch @ half time and I never thought that I would be saying that.
SEB needs to be sold of or loaned out as that miss was totally unforgivable, and dont start me on Stearman (WOW) how much are liverpool offering I Mick would have been ringing Anfield @ half time to see if they are still interested.Bring in a decent striker and some one to help out Nenad and Karl as Nemad just has to have some support going forward.

I also got up at 2am, parked my bum down on the chair to watch a game, where the team at a minimum needed to but at least a good “shift in” as mick would like to say, don’t worry about skill or ability to pass the ball, as those things clearly are not very high on his wish list. At the end of the game I just sat there and wondered what the h*ll do these guys get paid so much to do? (and do it badly.)
Some of them would struggle to play in the league lower, sadly this team is way short of the standard required.
The issue has to stop at Micks door, he picks the team (a different one each week, just to keep things interesting) and loves to play people out of position for some unknown reason.
My faith is Mick is slowly/quickly disappearing as I don’t think he knows which way to turn, or who even his best 11 on the pitch are – and this is a huge worry.
If we stay up with this team, I would be very surprised as there just aren’t the players with the skill to even pass the ball and then make space or pull other players out of position to make room for others to play through the hole created.
eBanks needs to be dropped, it was hard enough when we went down to 9 hard working players – he spends more time checking for worms on the pitch than what he does standing up and running around.
Since when has football been a long ball game at wolves, quality play goes through the midfield, and strikers looking to make telling runs into space, sadly I saw none of this in the game, just long balls to the two short front men.

From the start to finish we didn’t perform as well has we have seen in past games of this season, but again the home form is simply not good enough for a side who are looking to stay up, we have only scored 9 goals at home this season, not good enough. The future games for the rest of season at Molinuex doesn’t inspire confidence that we can get enough wins to stay up. When we have good spells in games we don’t score from any of the chances we create and that side of the team’s play has been a struggle this season as well. The real and perhaps only clear cut chance we created was Blake’s one on one and he failed to take it, sorry Sylvan you just haven’t got it this season.
Of course our chances of getting something from this game was hit hard when Richard Stearman got himself sent off. My view in Steve Bull upper was that Stearman’s foul on McCarthy – ironic twist that the Scot would get the first goal after turning us down in summer – seemed to me that the player in blue made a meal of it but listening to other fans on the radio on the way home, the view is Stearman was rightly punished thankfully for our goalkeeper, Hahnemann kept us in the game, not the just the penalty but pervious shots from Rodallega and N’Zogbia.
Then Jarvis was taken off at half time to which opened up the flanks for the Wigan wingers and a certain Frenchman with number 14 on his back had taken the opportunity by scruff of the neck. Tough on Ward without cover, Mick’s tactical choices exposed again.
I would of liked to seen Vokes on and hopefully he will get a chance up front with Doyle in a run of games. Then again, no creativity, a workmanlike team performance. That kind of football isn’t good enough too keep us up.
Although I do still think there is a team in the current crop of players in the squad who are capable of keeping the club up but I really don’t get the impression that the players work on passing the ball, working the ball into the right areas and also today there was massive lack of desire to get into the attacking positions. I just don’t think Mick McCarthy has the talent as a coach to make these players into a premier league team.
We do miss the energy of Dave Edwards, I wouldn’t have Henry in the side although he has played well this season but I would prefer to have two midfielders who can defend and attack, which I believe Milijas & Edwards can do that. Craddock and Berra have done well this season surprisingly too me but maybe now Craddock is running on empty. Stearman has done well apart from today, Zubar, nowhere to be seen, has looked decent at right back when played and Mancienne played well in possession of the ball but when it came to the physical side he was too lightweight, but he does bring quality to the side and there is Foley who should get a run in his best position, right wing doesn’t suite him, fullback. We do have some decent/good defenders individually but as a back four they just doesn’t communicate well enough, surely it solvable on the training ground?
Then the pressure is up when we don’t take any of chances we create, Doyle will get goals if he gets the service, if I were Mick I would give Mendez-Laing a run out in the cup and see what he does because we need a right winger now or just pay what Hull want for Hunt. However Steve Morgan is now contradicting himself with his comments on no ceiling wage and then saying that we have a budget and we will stick with it. Our survival is going to depend on what quality is brought in this month or if any players? I can’t see Mick being sacked, so either way, unless the manager starts to get his team playing some better football consistently then we are going back down but its not beyond the players in my opinion.

Amongst all the venom and anger a sensible posting with some valid comments, but, the Club can stay within a budget AND still have no cap on wages.

Another loss against a team around us in the league. We will not survive in this division if we can not take points of teams in the lower half of the league. SIMPLE!
I am not a Macarthy fan but I am not convinced that we should sack him now. My reason for this is simple as well.
We all know that it takes our club a ridculous amount of time to sign a player and the same approach has always been taken with replacing our manager. It will take Morgan and Moxey at least two weeks to make up their mind about who to employ as manager and by then the transfer window will have closed.
Our squad is not good enough to survive IMO and we need to strengthen it. This will not happen if we do not have a permanent manager in place.
Therefore i’m afraid we’re stuck with Macarthy until the end of the season and we are just going to have to hope that we scrape enough points to fluke survival!

I’ve stood by Mick all season but now i’m starting to get really worried. Today’s performance was absolutely dreadful, embarassing to be honest. There was no commitment shown by the boys today and that really is a concern. If we wan’t to stay in this league, we should be beating teams like Wigan! The worrying thing is this was only Wigan, just an average Premier League side. It’s an actual surprise that there are teams worse than us in this league after today’s performance. Ebanks Blake was my hero last season I absolutely loved the guy, however, the guy just cannot play in this league. He is a lazy player, didn’t do a lot today at all. I seriously think he needs to loose weight. I feel sorry for Kevin Doyle, I honestly do. He comes to us when the likes of Fulham and Sunderland were interested in him and doesn’t even get the proper service. I am, to be honest, absolutely disgusted by today’s performance. A change of results are needed, if that doesn’t happen, maybe a change in management may be needed too.

MM is, and always will be completely out of his depth at this level, just take a look at his record in the Premiership.
Many of his signings are woeful at this level and it’s unfair to ask them to do a Premiership job, they simply aren’t good enough and the blame for this lies 100% with the manager.
This coupled with his constant tinkering, playing people out of position and inept tactics (his Plan B is ‘stick the big fella on for the last 20 minutes), leaves me amazed that the man is still in a job.

Have you forgoten that he has signed all the players he picks and are obviously not good enough. The display was a disgrce when we went down to ten men they attacked us with 2 players and we had 7 trying to defend we are never going to score goals.
Mr MORGAN look at MM track record!!!!and Moxley if we had paid the money we would have the two central defenders Blues have and alzso HUDDLESTON in Mid – field. We wpould then not have the rubbish MM has signed.
It would have been acheaper option.

MacI can’t argue with what you said other than that I think if you pay the kind of money we have paid for players (with the exeption of Doyle and Milijas), you are going to be gambling on people making the grade.
What we really needed close season, was for Morgan and Moxey to agree to fund half a dozen players in the £5m bracket and a couple of decent loans to provide depth in the squad.
I think MM must shoulder some of the blame for his signings, but equally there needed to be more money at his diposal for both transfer fees and wages to attract the players we needed.

Usual tripe against an average team. The answers are staring us in the face yet this buffoon of a Manager refuses to see. Blake…should be sold, he is USELESS… Henry..yes he tries.. but simply ain’t good enough..has to go. Foley..out of his position in midfield, where is the logic in this?
Morgan, don’t give this guy another penny… he has already WASTED far too much
MCCARTHY OUT!!!

Im sorry to say it, but the different in the two teams today was huge. But my real concern is that apart from kites who have we got to improve are attack, this is the wrost defence in the league and i can hardly remember them making save.
You have got ask yourself how mick can say this squad is good enough and why he never went for players like hunt in the summer. Sorry but i like mick for what hes got for the club but i love wolves more and this man aint the man to improve wolves and move forward.

Mick…………
I know you probably don’t read this (because judging by your MOTD interview we were fantastic for 60mins!!!!) but if you do there are several hard facts that all of us present at Molineux today could see, but apparently you can’t:
1. “Putting a shift in” isn’t good enough to get points in this division.
2. SEB is either not fit/not good enough and does not deserve a place in the team on current form.
3. We have just failed to seriously trouble the worst defence in the division.
4.Both of Stearman’s yellows were justified.
5. Trying to claim that Howard Webb got in the way for their first goal was an insult to our intelligence…………..poor defending led to their goals, nothing else!!!!
6. We will go down if we continue to play like this.
7. With our current squad and current form, we would be mid-table in the Championship….at best!
8. I don’t think changing the manager is the answer.
9. If we are serious about staying in this division, we need to invest in a striker, two creative midfielders capable of scoring goals, and a leader on the pitch….for all his effort this season, is Henry really a leader?
10. It isn’t against the rules to shoot from outside the 18yd box!!
My apologies for the random and disorganised nature of this rant, but it’s now 1:30am Sunday morning, and I can’t sleep until I get this off my chest.
Please prove me wrong Mick and persuade Mr Morgan that it is worth investing in a team that could stay up this season in the worst Premier League for many years (If Blues are in with a chance of Europe it must be!).
Mr Morgan…This is an open letter to you from a disusted supporter of the best club in the football league.
Wolves are on track to achieve what many predicted at the beginning of the season, and that is to be relegated , lets face it we are the worst team in the Premiership.
Surely, you must have been alarmed when we struggles to beat Tranmere Rovers in the cup match, equally alarmed at McCarthys terrible decision to field just about a reserve team against Manchester United, equally alarmed at playing players out of position, picking players that are never going to make the cut in the Premier division, and with the exception of Doyle, alarmed at some of the purchases McCarthy made at the start of the Season, some of which he has not given any match time to..ie Hoff, and we are half way through the Season.
You are a very successful businessman, what do you do if your senior executives and managers fail to perform in your industry…you release them, or sack them…they must perform, no question about that.
You have allowed McCarthy to pull Wolves down to the depths of dispair, and unless you do something about this this week, Wolves are finished as a Premiership team.
It may already be too late, what player worth anything would want to join Wolves now, when in a few months they would returned to the CC Championship…There is only one solution.
Make an announcment this week that McCarthy is out and appoint a new Manager, someone known to everyone, especially the players, and potential signings, a man with flair and leadership, who is able to hold Wolves together..You may have to pay top dollar, bur someone has to rescue our team now, and buy appropiate players now..Mr Morgan, you must see that.
At best McCarthy is a ‘cowboy’ who rode on the backs of Ebanks Blake and big Chris last season when all was going well, not believing that those two players could nor repeat their performances in the Premier division, and Mr Morgan, they can’t…they are 2nd tier players and always will be.
Please take desisive action now, it will be too late next week…You need to make some hard decisions, spend the money you promised on experienced players, get a new, named manager, someone the players respect, and save our club.
You are the only one that can do this, no one else is able to give you any more than advice.
You need a manager that is a ‘grafter’ someone like Warnock of Palace, who it is well known is looking for a new post, or a successful ex player that can motivate and lift the team.
We must buy some talent, we have two weks to move on this.
Please don’t let us all down by doing nothing
The ball is in your court, and I look forward to reading about the changes you have made to save our club in the next few days…A statement from you is overdue.

There is so much rubbish in here I don’t know where to start, but let me point out the most ridiculous comment:
“you have allowed MM to pull us to the depths of despair”
Yes and where were we when he took over? Pulled from the happy position of the bottom half of the Champ with no players to 16th in the Prem. You obviously haven’t been coming long if you think this is the depths of despair
Report abuse
Noisy,
We had our hopes raised with lots of promises and lots of what we can now see was b*llsh*t! That is why true Wolves fans who go and watch this rubbish are in real despair.
McCarthy is a good Championship manager, but is out of his depth amongst the big boys! We should have thanked him for getting us promoted and hired a proven Premiership manager then.
So, yes we are in despair that yet again we have been made idiots of by Moxey with his vapour speak to get us to part with our money, and yet another chance of becoming a Premiership side has ended in tears (after today you can see that it is all over!).

Further to my earlier post to Mr Morgan
Speak to Warnock next Saturday when he brings a very successful Palace to Wolverhampton.
Take a good hard look at some of his players, and the effort and passion they put in for Palace, and in particular their respect fot their Manager.
Warnock is looking for a new post to get away from their maniac owner.
Lets all hope that Palace treat us gently.

Give it a rest with Warnock. ANyone who has been supporting Wolves more than 5 years hates him and he is managing a team currently 9th in the Championship. You make the Ince lovers sound sensible.
Disastrous result and underlines yet again the lack of creativity in midfield and toothless finishing up front. As much as I want us to stay up, I am finding it indefensible as we look poor almost every time we hit the field.
MM says he continues to be encouraged but how can he take any positives from this result where the goalkeeper was the star performer for Wolves???
Morgan needs to cut bait and get a new Manager in quick beofre the transfer window shuts.
Great post Rotherham Wolf, that is basically it. Micks tactics are so often so bad.Nearly all managers would have taken off SEB, but not Mick. I would defo play Vokes and guess he might against Palace, but then again, Mick will think it is good for Seb’s confidence to score against Palace and then he won’t. DOH
Report abuse
agree with alot that has been said.can not see where is a result or even a goal is going to come from.everyone noes we have to spend 4-5 million on each player we sign, but this lot will wait till we are down spend 1 million on a player save the other 4 million for there own wages and there bonus for saving money.save 4 million or get 20+million for staying up.spend the money,we all do every week to watch a very expensive circus.

I continue to read players saying Wolves deserve to be in the premier league. Well instead of talking about it, show it on the pitch where it matters most. I think sacking McCarthy would do no good. He can only pick the players he thinks can do the job.
McCarthy bought the players
McCarthy trains the players
McCarthy picks the team
McCarthy motivates the team
McCarthy chooses tactics
Can you see a common theme here? There is just one very basic problem!
The only chance of saving our Premiership status is to sack the problem, *NOW*.
Mr Morgan, we expect you to do your job!

I’ve been saying it from day 1. The players we’ve bought when we got promoted were no way good enough , we’ve got too many players not putting in a shift or simply out of their league ie SEB , henry and many more. We spent 17 million on another group of average coca cola players. Come on Mr Morgan , moxey and Mccarthy stop penny pinching and buy us some class players & try and at least save this season . Yours a very embaressed wolfie

As for yesterday, well I’m sorry but it just sums up this season . wrong team, tactics, players not fit for the Premiership and above all the wrong manager,
just look at the stats for yesterday!
Posession Wolves 43% Wigan 57%
attempts on target Wolves 4 Wigan 14
And Wigan were the away team and below us in the table!!!

off now to see if i can get 10 Downing street to sanction my petition to get rid of mccarthy – not that i blame him for the gutless performance but i cant realistically get those 10 jokers (Hahneman the only reprieve) down the job centre.
At this present moment in time it is going to take a miracle for us to stay up I just can’t see it happening. Look at Wigan’s squad they are oozing quality compared to us and I’m surprised they are at least not in the top half of the table. Obviously significant investment is required this month to give us any hope of survival but I just can’t see it happening with our current backroom set up. Our lack of goals is what will seal our fate at the end of the season and our dire record against teams around us in the league. Also I’m sick of hearing of how well we played against this team and that and getting a right thumping. I now he has his detractors but even Beckford can ignite our goal shy lot and we should make a bid for him NOW and stop our usual pi**ing about. If Hull won’t sell Hunt get Ledley or more unlikey Adam Johnson or Moses in, just do it NOW for God’s sake.
Personally, I think it might be our best policy to pursue the pick of the Championship’s players, such as those you mention. They can’t be any more inept than our present crop at this level, and it would at least give us some optimism for next season back in the Coke League (where we definitely won’t have Doyle to rely on)
Let’s face facts – we simply do not have enough players who are good enough at this level.
A few show glimpses of ability but are too inconsistent and often their inspired moment does not coincide with someone else’s.
We must bring in at least three experienced premiership players before the end of the month. I know that’s easier said than done but if we don’t I can’t see us scoring again never mind winning! Kites also needs to get match fit and back on form quickly.
We don’t need any more ‘may be’ players – signing Beckford for instance would be a purchase for next year’s Championship bid and not a serious survival attempt.
We should have made better buys in the Summer – it will be a lot harder now to attract players.
The only players who have added consistent quality are Doyle and Hahnemann. Trouble is we need Doyle to run the channels, cross the ball and head it in. A big ask in anyone’s book.
As for Zubar, Surman, Castillo, Maierhoffer and Halford – what was the point of signing these players?
I just read a report that Morgan has stated publicly that it would not be a problem if Wolves are demoted to the Championship.
If that report is true then we need a new chairman! It is obvious that he is just laughing at us and he intends to do NOTHING!

Having looked at our remaining fixtures, it is extremely hard to see when the next win could come along. Even the Liverpool fixture looks an away win because we cannot score and we cannot stop the opposition from doing so either. Ok Liverpool will have both Torres and Gerrard but would you put your money on Wolves to beat them?
Here are the other remaining games – Hull a, W.Ham a, B’ham a, Spurs h, Chelsea h, Bolton a, Man.Utd h, Burnley a, Villa a, Everton h, Arsenal a, Stoke h, Fulham a, Blackburn h, Portsmouth a & Sunderland h.
So how many of those games do you think we can get enough points from to stay up?
Maybe W.Ham a, Everton h, Stoke h and Blackburn h but the others? We’ll be lucky if we can pinch a draw or 2 IMO!
The Hull match will now be high profile after we have attempted and by the looks of it, failed to get Hunt from them so they will be well up for that game!
Unless Steve Morgan splashes the cash and Mick McCarthy does some damn good business, we will be heading for the Championship for if we cannot beat the Wigan’s of this world then we have little hope of beating the better teams and we still have most of them to play.
The future is certainly NOT looking old gold but is definitely looking black!

For most of last week we have had posters from your boards coming onto ours bigging Wolves up.
It was lost to them that both clubs are in the same boat, our problems are virtually the same as yours.
Phil Brown would always blame everyone except himself.
The tactics employed and the team selection baffled (it still does) us.
Players paid big money did not perform.
The one big difference appears to be the team spirit. If Seven Hunt comes to you I will be astounded, not knocking your club but I cannot see what in the long term he has to gain, it is I’m afraid like for like. He enjoys the spirit in the squad.
You should look forward our coming fixture, with Jimmy Bullard back and the possibility of Zaki in our team it should be interesting to say the least. Thats if Zaki turns up after going home to get his kit bag.
Best of luck with your season and enjoy your trip to the KC but not too much eh!

Fair play to you, mate- history says that Wolves are a much bigger club than Hull, but experience is showing us that success is now measured solely on the basis of survival, however tenuous, at Premiership level; and in that respect, I agree that many players would now take the pragmatic approach and see Hull as a safer bet than Wolves. Our apparently failed pursuit of Hunt may end up proving instructive to both parties- giving your lot a healthy boost of self-esteem; whilst being extremely deflating to both Wolves fans and the Club and playing staff in general.
Que sera sera….

If we are in the Championship, then I’d go for Ince so that he can mature as a manager at a sensible pace; that jump into a disgruntled Blackburn was a bad mistake as there were so many prima donnas waiting to make their points.
If it happened next week then I’d say that choosing Houllier showed more ambition than we can fulfil, so I’d settle for Steve Copell, who could inspire and coach this team into a reasonable side.
I don’t think that the players are the problem, the real problem is “forgot to order a ball” McCarthy!

Its time everbody realises that Moxley runs the club not Morgan, his way is to find cheap bargain basement players that will work for cut price wages.McCarthy doesnt know what hes doing Fact, what does he do in the training sessions because we cant take a free kick or a corner without over hiiting it or giving it back to the opposition. This game was a reality check against a lower prem club with the worst defence in the league and what did we manage 4 attempts against there 14.SEB is completely out of his depth in this division and the rest of the summer signings apart from Doyle,Millias and Hanneman look like championship players at best,McCarthy and Moxley have wasted enough money on sub standard prem players that will never hack it in this division.Answer bring on Houllier or Steve Coppell/Mark Hughes and sign proven prem players.

I understand Morgan has said “it won’t be a disaster if we go down” Paul Franks on WM revealed yesterday. I bet Morgan wouldn’t say “it won’t be a disaster if my Hotel business goes bust”.
Wolves are a club with no ambition,a manager who is a proven top flight failure, and a coach who seems to do nothing. We also don’t have a captain, but we do have a striker who seems to have spent the last 8 months in Burger King.

Mad Mick McCarthy – ‘The Clueless Clown’
How did this man ever get a job as a football manager because football is something he knows nothing about! If he did ever play football than all I can say is that it is a case of mistaken identity because we have got the wrong man!
As for Clipboard Connor, perhaps he ought to a carry a postage stamp rather than a clipboard because what he knows about football would more than adequately fit on the back of a postage stamp!
Even more clueless are the happy clappers who sing ‘Super Mick McCarthy’ (didn’t hear much of that yesterday)!
But the worst clueless idiots are some of the players who talk a good game through the media rather than display it on the football pitch!
Shambles. Wigan I don’t think had kept a clean sheet in about 8 weeks, and i think that record was sure to be intact with Ebanks-Blake up front. I hope finally now that the Happy-Clappers can see he is not up to the job and that we need to act FAST to bring in a quality striker in the remainder of the transfer window.

I have backed Mick, but the doubts are now creeping in. I assume that he will continue until the end of the season and if he keeps us up, then OK I was wrong to doubt him. I was optimistic about staying up but, again, I really do wonder now. It was a lousy 150 mile trip back home from Molineux through all weathers after that display. Largely because of what Mick himself says about how players pick themselves for the team, I cannot understand how SEB warrants his place. He was great for us over the last two seasons but, sorry, is just isn’t happening any more. It is almost unfair to pick him because he is not doing it on the pitch, the fans are disappointed with a player who was once a hero, and there are other strikers who deserve the nod over him. Put him on the bench. And what happened to Zubar, Castillo? Does Mick really know who his best team are? If we go down, we must clear out the backroom right down to academy level and start again, from fresh.

Steve Morgans statement that going back down to The Championship wouldnt be a disater shows how out of touch he is with The Wolves supporters,it would be a complete disaster for the majority of Wolves Fans who were promised so much. Its no small wonder there were protests at Liverpool when he tried to take over, throwing in the towel is not our way in the black country.

very dissapointed with this result. I’m very worried now because our home form is not improving and neither do we look like scoring goals. This is relegation form. Why is it that some of these players are turning up and playing well against the better sides like man city, arsenal, liverpool and not up for the winnable games like portsmouth, brum, hull and now wigan. There is a clear pattern emerging here. Didnt see the game only highlights but did anyone who did see us create anything or look dangerous? We looked like the away team.
This was a must NOT LOSE home game, and with all the defensive players in the team you’d think they would a least keep a clean sheet! Sure we have away games to west ham, hull, but our next home games is liverpool and I’m sorry MM but we have to WIN that one, as its spurs and chelsea afterthat.I hope MM is looking for 2 strikers, as well as a winger,2 full backs and a central defender.

Watched the match now on football first n have to say that overall it was a bloody shambles. Like my friends above Wigan had better, quicker eager players who at times simply strode over our transparent defence. Stearman go n get a paper round son u aint good enough u cost us the game u bufoon! SEB just go away! Again the only ones that shone are Doyle, Milijas n at times Mancienne. Hanheman was great it could have been a hatful if it wasn’t for him. Wigan’s forwards were good n skillful and fast. We could not cope. I am alarmed that Morgan should say such a thing although i didn’t hear it but it clearly show us all that they are all business men n dosh in the Bank is what it’s all about. He ain’t gonna do us good i think by saying that. Ye i agree he is an ocean away from us lot who fill Sir Jacks ground. ‘No Wage cap?’ he said! I’ll bet! If we sign new blood as whats been rumoured then we may have a fightin chance but then again will they come to a strugglin relegation prone club for a few months? Will Morgan invest in them? I think this club is at a cross roads now as they have left it too late. We can all see what calibre of Mcarthy’s pre season signins are now! Bloody Crap!!! Halford, Surman, Zubar, Meirhoffer (injured i know but not even given a chance. Still think he would be a handfull)All of the afore mentioned have not cut it n hardly played! It beggars belief the bloody money that Mcarthy has wasted n look at the position we are in. I will always support Wolves but over the years ain’t it about time we had some success for our passionate efforts? WOuldn’t it be great to go to the sacred gorund n see a team that is mid or even in the top 6? Brum ain’t faring too badly because they have the right mind set n backin!

This has been a really great season for WWFC. Mr Moxey has put out a Premiership team that did not cost very much, and the fans have poured in to pay Premiership prices and given us full houses at home.
This achievement is crowned by the fact that we have not paid the players Premiership wages, just signed them on Championship wages and when we return next season to the Championship Mr Moxey will have made many millions for the owner, Mr Morgan.
I hope that Mr Moxey is rewarded with a giant bonus, like he was last time he got the team promoted into the Premiership for a season.
The parachute payments for the next two seasons, but with only Championship salaries to pay, mean that we should see great balance sheets for the next two seasons.
And on top of that, it has all been done with the clubs own money, and Mr Morgan has not had to touch the £30M he promised Mr Hayward he would invest in the club! Well done Mr Moxey!

Sometimes I think that you are just trying to stir up feelings with your postings, but in the end what you state is always factual.
Maybe most of us supporters think with our passion for Wolves and not with our heads!
Are we really being ripped of like you state? I hope it is not the case!

Guys seriously, I know yesterday was awful but how does saying get mick out and having a pop at all the players help? Ok, we had a very off day, but you put it behind you and look forward to the next game. Hopefully a few new signings could bring a bit more spark in the team, keep the faith.

Keep on Happy Clapping all the way back down the league. We are having a pop because most of em were useless yesterday and at this rate we will relegated when there is a relatively weak prem – disgrace!
I look forward to a change in mangement – one day Muppet will be sacked, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Been sayin all season that HENRY is just not good enough. The only creativity in our team is from Milijas. Henry is consistently poor, has no vision whatsover and can only pass side ways or backwards.
What on earth is Foley doing playing in midfield. This is crazy!! Where was Zubar… Why play Seb, hes a yard too slow for this level..
Ward is not a left back..
crickey the list goes on and on and on..
This team is a shambles, but it could all be so different if we had a manager who plays the correct team.
I would play
Hannerman
Foley
Craddock
Berra
Zubar
Surman
Milijas
Casillo
Jarvis
Doyle
Iweulomo
Thats the best 11 we have currently, and I reckon we would have beaten Wigan playing it.
McCarthy has to go. I wont be watching another season of championship rubbish next year, not a chance.
So Zubar is a left back and Surman is a right winger?
Very blinkered in your views, its too easy to blame Ward & Henry & follow the sheep on here, they were 2 of our better performers on Saturday, yes Wardy got done for the first goal, but he is the best left back at the club, what about Milijas, Jarvis & Foley who were all a joke, Jarvis touched the ball in the first half about as mich as he did in the 2nd!!! Because he was hiding & didn’t fancy it, playing against an old man !!!
If you want to blame anyone blame the manager, he cost us the game on Saturday trying to be cleverer than he is.
Have just seen the extended highlights, the game turned on SEB missing a sitter and then Stearmans stupid sending off. what a plonker!
Our midfield was inept, mancienne should have played there instead of in defence with Zubar, stearman partnering craddock. I dont think Berra was fit enough to start but why not put him on at half time when we were down to 10 men, and push mancienne forward? Couldnt beleive it when he put Jones on? To show how poor our attack was and I mean SEB, Iwelumo and Doyle, Caldwell the defender from the scotish prem league was making his debut, and had no problems whatsoever.MM must drop SEB, not because he’s not scoring but because his overall game is so poor. Wigan looked like the home side and it could of been 4 or 5 in the end, had in not been for hannerman who was excellent.Jarvis should watch the tape and look at Nzogbia and learn how to play like a winger. SEB and Doyle should watch Rodellega, and learn how to create space for themselves to shoot. On this performance we do need 2 strikers and a winger, though i think Keogh and doyle today would have been a better pairing
Report abuse
Jarvis knows how to play as a winger, but Mad Mick makes him spend most of his time covering the Left Back, because we still don’t have quality in that position.
It must be doing Jarvis’s head in, and when we go down again you can be sure that he’ll be one of the first to be snapped up by a Premiership side.
It’s obvious that Morgan will not be making any changes. The 3M combination have made him a mint this season, and there is still the parachute payments to profit from for the next two seasons when we return to the Championship, as Morgan has recently commented on.
So, lads and lasses it looks like the club has already decided what will happen for the rest of the season.
I won’t be wasting my hard-earned money to line their coffers any more, they have had enough out of me over the last 25 years, and what have they given back? Very little it seems, as it is now obvious that there never was an intent to keep the team in the Premiership this season.
Just collect the TV monies and 2 years parachute payments, the fans who believed have just been made idiots by Moxey, AGAIN! How many times will this man con us?

I’m sad to say it but it looks like 2003-4 all over again. I have backed Mick from the start but I’m having serious doubts about him now, some VERY strange tactics, player choices and subs, 3 at the back against Chelsea away??!!!? Before that match we couldn’t defend well with a 4-4-2!!!!
The blues down the road have played the same players for nearly every game, that’s why they are where they are now, fair play to them. Their players now know each other and each others game and THAT makes a big difference to the way they approach matches. I’m not sure but I don’t think we have played the same team for 2 or 3 games in a row.
Back in 2003-4 Dave Jones was given little cash to build a decent team primarily because he had wasted some already (though not as much as McGhee) and towards the end of that season was using players in other positions and making strange subs, if my memory serves me right. EXACTLY what Mick is doing now, even though we do have other players available who can play those positions. I can’t see ANY decent players signing in this window, would you be happy to come to a new club knowing you are in a relegation dogfight from day one till the end of the season or sooner? I wouldn’t!!!
If Morgan thinks dropping back into the fizzy pop league won’t be a problem then I think he’s in a for a bit of a shock myself. What happens between now and May will ultimately decide whether I would say quite a few Wolves fans renew their season ticket to watch their team. I dare say many will still do this (giod bless them), however not everyone can keep affording to blow good money on watching their team week in week out these days what with the economy as it is, particularly if the league they are in does not matter to the owner!!
Something drastic has to happen soon whether it be the sacking of the manager and assistant who appear to be out of their depth or the owner stepping down if that’s all he can say to appease the MANY angry and cheated Wolves fans who keep putting money in his pocket in blind faith to support the team they LOVE.
To put it simply Mr. Morgan if that’s the level of your interest in our club then GET LOST and let someone who loves this club take over!
Sir Jack Hayward is worth 1000,000 of you!!!
A Very disillusioned Wolves fan.

We really are a shambles at the moment. An owner who seemingly feels that relegation wont be a disaster and that the current squad are good enough to stay up, a manager who doesn’t know his best team and constantly plays players out of position and ignores other players in the squad and a team full of championship players.
Look at yesterdays starting eleven,
Hanehman, good enough for premier
Stearman, not good enough
Craddock, not good enough
Mancienne, not good enough in defence
Ward, not good enough
Jarvis, not good enough,
Henry, not good enough,
Milijas, good enough
Foley, not good enough in midfield
Blake, not good enough
Doyle, good enough
That to my calculation is three players who are good enough and the rest either not good enough or debatable as to whether they are good enough. Little wonder we are so poor.
Another point where are Zubar and Castillo? They cant be worse than the likes of Henry, Stearman, Craddock etc can they?!
I for one have already emailed the club and told them what they can do with their early bird renewal, got fed enough lies before this season started, I will be very surprised if we make any signings of any credence, but i wouldnt give MM my sons lunch money to spend.
I think it is a disgrace that they are already trying to get our money for next season, that with only half of season gone we seem to have thrown the towel in,….but one point I will say to all those addressing Morgan, Moxey runs this club end of,..and it looks like Morgan just wanted somewhere to stash £30 mill to get a nice interest return.

On current evidence, we could start dreaming up our own little slogan.
You know, a Molineux version of ‘Boing Boing Baggies’.
How about ‘Woosh Woosh Wanderers’..?
Or “Will they, won’t they? Wanderers” (as in turn up).
I quite like the last one. We could apply it to the player on the pitch – and the fans on the terraces if we are forced to play fizzy pop football next season.
Sorry to take the proverbial and make light, but after “30 years of hurt” as a Wolves fan, I feel I can comment if I like.
And what has changed since I was a young lad, taken by my Dad to stand in the old ‘Enclosures’..? Not much. We have a stadium.
But we’ve not progressed as a team from where we were in 1980 – the year we won the league cup thanks to an Andy Gray goal.
Today, we’ve only got Joey Craddock who knows where the goal is… and he plays in defence!

As for the “strikers?” (I use the word loosley), did we buy them from a circus act? I think we should call him EBlank Blake from now on. What a waste of space!
Not to worry, I assume the Muppet will be bringing back his other star purchase soon (Halford) to get us out of this mess with his long throw.
Ye gods!! fast becoming a farce of Biblical proportions.

Wow.
Look at all of these idiots screeching from their armchairs.
Yeah yesterday was really poor but it’s interesting how Mick is taking the blame from nearly everyone.
Was it his fault Sylvan can’t finish from 6 yards?
Was it his fault that Stears was an absolute pillock to get himself sent off?
Let’s wait and see what happens in the transfer window first before we start writing our season off.
If we win our next 3, you fickle idiots will be asking that Mick’s given the keys to the city.

12 hour round trip with my 7 year old daughter yesterday….do not assume that fans rightly being critical are armchair supporters.
You are clearly a blind and deluded happy clapper with no passion or idea – who chose the team, who kept SEB on for 70 mins, who chose tactics, who authorised a bunch of signings that don’t play/aren’t good enough etc etc. Muppet has had more than enough chance, yesterday, like other games before them are evidence he is out of his depth and a clueless, thick, stuborn moron.
Wise up, if we win the next 3, you are on fantasy island – plonker!
Agree with the Stearman comment but as for SEB, YES IT IS HIS FAULT!!!!
If you keep playing a striker who is so badly off the boil it’s a joke then HOW please tell me HOW do you expect him to score? Watch his body language, he doesn’t beleieve he can score in this league.
Last season he would have buried that chance, tell me I’m wrong!!! Yes we were in a different league last season but WHATEVER league you are in if you can’t score from a chance like that then you are out of touch!
If you were designing aircraft that kept falling out of the sky would your company keep letting you try? No, they would sack you for incompetence and most likely sue you for any law suits bought against them because of it!
Totally different set of circumstances but the same reason applies, if you aren’t scoring then why are you playing week after week?
Read my previous post, do you REALLY believe anyone decent will come to us knowing they’re fighting relegation from the start??!?
To be fickle is one thing, to expect miracles is another.

YES,IT IS ABSOLUTELY McCARTHYS FAULT.
HE signed players who are at best Championship standard………and then plays them out of position
HE decided to persist with a badly out of form striker lacking in confidence
HE decided to tackle the Premiership with his number 1 left back a player he signed as a striker (both goals yesterday came from our left back area).
I will not knock the players, it is not their fault that they out of their depth and are being exposed week in week out, I TOTALLY blame McCarthy for putting these guys in the firing line.
You simply cannot expect a team of Championship players to survive in the Prem……unless you live on Planet Mick.
Even if we did win the next three games, it had better because there is spirit, pride in the shirt and no fluke involved. Wigan were there for the taking yesterday and only the team selection plus lack of decent managerial motivation is what cost us the points and yes, the hope. This newspaper has also pumped up expectations with all it´s silly talk of a potential transfer signing that is clearly beyond the scope of this clubs present management structure. The three M´s can change clubs but it isn´t so easy if you´re a dedicated fan. We can´t just walk away.

Sorry Wordsley Wolf but who picks Ebanks Blake and Stearman? Who plays Stearman at right back when Foley, who was player of the season last season, should be playing there.
They are simply not good enough along with others but Mick plays them week after week and never gives the likes of Maierhofer, Surman, Zubar and Castillo a chance.
On another topic why did we not sign any wingers in the summer? We knew both Kightly and Jarvis were injury prone and yet we sign Halford who isn’t even a winger and Surman who is more of a left footed central midfielder.

Major problems at the club imv; If rumours are to be believed Morgan wont be willing to put his hand in his pocket and pay for the players we need badly – at least not with a manager who is exasparating most Wolves fans!
MM is good at Chumpionship level; Moxey likes a manager that doesn’t rock the boat with regards to transfer targets – so it may well be a case of ‘token gestures’ in the Jan transfer window – smoke screen announcements on ‘so-called’ targets – that never materialise etc etc
Mr Morgan where is your ambition??? Or is this all ‘smoke and mirrors?’
We have badly needed a left back; a midfield general; another striker and a wide man (left) that can go toe to toe with other players in the Prem
One last thing – our fitness coach??? a 5ft 5 striker that is 14 stone??? Answers on a postcard – Just a joke!!!
or Are we just looking at going up and down each season???
Are we going to get some real answers from Mr Morgan??? Dont hold your breath!!!
There is nothing wrong with going up and down each season. Look at the financial aspects.
Get promoted and you get TV funds, big money!
Get demoted and you get 2 years of big money to help you acclimatise to Championship wage levels, parachute payments.
The secret is to go into the Premiership with young and hungry (cheap) players so that you never pay Premiership wages, now you can see how it works and how many millions of pounds can be made quite legally by getting the balance right.
Young and hungry can win the Championship and then its money making all the way! Mr McCarthy has great contacts amongst the lower leagues and he can always get a team of young and hungry together! This makes Mr McCarthy indispensable if you want to make money out of football, and never forget that is only another business!
Yes AW it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out what you’re saying BUT it still doesnt explain why we constantly have players out of position – full backs playing wide midfield, new signings hardly getting a game – overweight/ unfit players still getting picked – the volume of centre half’s that never appear to be good enough (even in the fizzy pop league)Why a ‘young and hungry’ side are always considered ‘tired’???
Personally, I would have preffered to see an average of £4m spent on better quality than what has happened (4 or 5 Prem Proven not so-many ‘Project Players’)
I dont quite go for your ‘conspirarcy theory’ more a case of the inabillity of Moxey and MM to convince the better than average Prem Players to come to the club
Whilst I dont believe that anyone advocates ‘spending for spendings sake’ being far too thrifty can and will push us back down again
The club can only make bold statements so many times before its customers (us paying fans) start voting with our feet
Even Sir Alan Michael Sugar has stated that you cannot run a successful club in the Prem like a business and who is he to say such things???

Wordsley.
You’ve been accused of being a Sandwell Town fan. I am one. I’m guessing that you’re at my end of the age scale (getting on a bit.) What we lack in speed we make up for in patience, something the modern football fan hasn’t got. They want it all and they want it now.
I think some of them forget where you were when Mick took over. We have the same problem, fans that don’t remember where we were ten years ago and have a blase attitude toward the risk of sending us back there.
The other problem is the ‘we’re a big club fans.’ At the beginning of last season, one of our more grown up fans, Happy Baggie admitted that in PL terms WBA are the equivelent of the ‘five pinter’ at a disco. He received plenty of stick from your fans over this. The fact is he was spot on, whether we like it or not, this is exactly what WBA and WWFC are at the moment. To top players and managers we can’t afford to pay top dollar and we haven’t got a recent PL pedigree. Blckburn, Wigan, Fulham etc all fill this criteria. Things are changing because until this season you would have included Portsmoth, West Ham and Bolton in this list.
By modern criteria neither of us are big clubs. The one thing that may change this is that we’re both solvent, well run clubs and when the sinking begins we will still be afloat. We won’t be left like Chelsea, Man City and Blues, preying that the money men don’t pull the plug.
Good luck in your missionary work preaching common sense. Like I said earlier, there’s not much room for it in football these days.

Totally agree but the reason is sad and simple.
The more established teams get the better decisions over teams who have only just been promoted.

I have been saying for a long time that McCarthy is not a premiereship Manager. He and Moxey must go because while they are both at the club the only way is down, down down.Mad Mick.does not have the ability to motivate players, just listen to his after match comments, just no spark in him at all.He doesn`t know what players to buy again just look at his record. We need defenders who know how to defend,we need a midfield who can both defend and provide a service and backup to the forwards and we need forwards who can score goals on a regular basis which we don`t have.Ok,Doyle isn`t getting the service he requires but Blake is just so far off the pace that he is still two divisions off the premiereship. It`s embarrassing when you look at what Brum have done, surely Mr.Morgan, you can see that they have a good manager who knows what he`s doing.Mick has to go now and must be replaced by a proven manager,Houlier comes to mind but, pleas, not Ince at this moment in time.It is time, Mr.Morgan, to stand up and be counted for the sake of our club and the fans and get rid of the dead wood so that we ca move on.

Clearly MM got us to the Prem BUT my gut feeling is that he has little credibility to recruit players perhaps the money is there but they do not want to play for the Wolves.
If we are to progress we have two choices first to Ditch MM ang go with a new leader NOW and Morgan put some money out and get players in….Or of course Keep MM and again Morgan needs to shell out…..
Like all supporters posting I do not relish the thourght of a further drop down and do not agree with Mr. Morgan— The Prem is where I want us to be but like all dreams it seems to be fadding fast..

SEB is clearly out of form and low on confidence and yes like many others before he is finding the top flight a step too far.But some of the criticism of him on this site saddens me.Last season he scored the goals that fired us to promotion. The gap between success and failure is very narrow:if he had just put that chance away or scored with that header he would have been a hero. Today I was ashamed to be a Wolves supporter. I was there, and I left before the end in disgust and shame!
It is easy to scream that the players aren’t fit to wear the shirt, and I felt like that for a while.
However, when you think about it you can’t escape the fact that:
-McCarthy bought all the team, other than Jody Craddock, our most inspirational player, who he has tried to get rid of twice!
-McCarthy trains the team, I suggest that he tries throw ins and corner kicks this week!
-McCarthy motivates the team, most had dropped their heads before the end of Saturdays Greek tragedy!
-McCarthy picks the team, I think that it is done with a pin, because it defies footballing logic!
-McCarthy decides the strategy, unfortunately we never see a plan B (other than bring on a big forward and hoof the ball in his general direction!).

Typical of MM to blame everyone else for his totally inept tactics and square peg selections. Problem is he believes endeavour is better than quality, a bigger problem is we don’t have either. Please Mick go now and take clipboard with you. If the statement attributed to Morgan is true he should be ashamed and it speaks volumes as to where his true loyalties lie.

Seems simple to me, neither manager nor most of the players are good enough. I have watched several games on TV, and have been very nervous, even when we win. Simply not consistent enough, but I don’t have any answers.

134 The Wanderer, no I will not because unlike most on here I remember where we were when McCarthy took over. No players little prospects and a very great likelihood of heading for league 1.
I was delighted when we got him in, and although we have had some poor results who HONESTLY expected this to be easy this season.
It sums it up when people say they would be happy to get relegated to see him gone.
Truly the mind boggles at the idiots on here..

Alot of people blame Hoddle for this episode in the clubs history – Try looking at the facts first:
1) SJH and Moxey decided to slash the wage bill – and that is really why we hardly had any players/ squad left
2) It was’nt a gradual kull – more an immediate one – Who do you blame for that???
3) Hoddle failed that season – so instead of sacking him – Moxey chose to ‘let it ride’ until Hoddle walked away – Who’s fault is that?
NB* The wholesale clearance at the Mol was and is down to SJH and Moxey – They saw MM as the man who shops at Aldi and that has done it before on a shoe-string and boy we were lucky these actions didnt back fire and send us down that season!
All in all a massive gamble on the part of the club – Yes I dont like Hoddle particularly BUT hey dont let these facts get in the way!

I thought we played OK. We are never going to batter teams in this division. OK so we were disappointingly unable to deal with their front man but besides that, I thought we were the better team. The “performance” of some of the fans on this site is equally questionable and if we fail to stay up then I hope the fans that have given up will realise that they have played a part in the failure. Personally I think it’s blatantly obvious that we still have a reasonable amount to fight for this year, so every player and fan should still be giving 100%. If we fail then the inquest should start at the end of the season. NOT BEFORE.
P.S I do wonder why MM seems to be given far less time, patience and respect by our fans than our other “successful” manager of recent years – DJ. Despite MM achieving slightly more. Maybe MM is paying the price for previous failure and our support has an unrealistically high demand for constant improvement? Or maybe some of our fans are unwilling to trust someone with a Yorkshire accent? Either way, it’s outrageously unfair.

MM is reknown for his ‘nuggett’ comments in the media regarding the fans
Taking that a step further; MM also has baggage regarding his spats with Roy Keane and Dennis Irwin (as EIRE manager)
A fine line between bad man management and plain talking
His previous failures possibly adds to this – but imv his reactions/ sarcasms that really should’nt happen
Yes, he’s only human BUT MM is a manager of a Professional football club – and should react accordingly
Fans are always going to have their say – so there’s no surprises there and yes I dont advocate some of the nasty comments that are said about the club/ manager of even other Wolves fans – It doesnt cost anything to be civil
Yes give your opinions BUT try not make it a vicious personal attack on anyone

Blogs have been saying for weeks on here it will only be a matter of time before one of our defenders gets a red card for shirt pulling. It seems a normal thing to do with our defenders, if that is what is expected of them in training to put into action on the pitch, because it seems to be part of the game plan, then it really is time for change.
We have been hearing for weeks how the players were going to do it for the fans & get results to stay up, even the management. We couldn’t score in a “house of disrepute” (brothel).
Why did we buy George Friend, Sam Vokes, Matt Hill, Hoffmeier (injured).
Steve Morgan you made a statement this week that your blood now runs Black & Gold, how much longer can you put up with these inept team selections & tactics. The 3 year plan with McCarthy is now up, even McCarthy himself said 3 years is probably long enough for a manager to complete any transition apart from a few exceptions like Fergie.
You must have connections because of your previous relations with Liverpool and I dont mean Sammy Lee. The fans of Wolverhampton Wanderers will be left feeling really empty if we go down.
We had 9 games against teams in & around us to collect 27 points from. Its now 8 games & 24 points. Realistically we might manage 9 points if we are lucky enough to keep a settled team. Lets not get carried away, the win at Spurs was fortunate & welcoming, but no way convinces the fans we are an EPL team with ambition. We have to look in the direction of Birmingham to see what we would like within our own club. We will be blown away by Spurs when they come to Molineux as we are such an easy push over for all clubs who come to the Mol. I remember once when it use to be a fortress??
The best 1 million pounds you could spend in this transfer window Steve would be to golden handshake McCarthy, Conner & Daley as there is something definitely wrong with our fitness programme if we can’t manage 2 – 3 games in a week with the same team.
Steve, bring in your own management team like you do at Redrow, no room for sentiment. Houllier & Coppell would be a good team, along with the Ghost of Bob Paisley.
Your hand to play Steve, do you want EPL next season or CCC???
We fans all know what we want!!

Wigan played with more hunger and conviction. Even their tactics were more refined.
Time for experimenting is over if we are to stay up.Once the team was down to 10 men all hell broke loss. I wonder whether we are able to perform with the same conviction when we are one down and with 10 men. There are teams in the league that play with equal gusto even with one man less and win the game.Manchester United is one example.
In the current Afican Nation Cup,Ivory Coast with 10 men even managed to score more goals and win the match against Ghana
Is there a lack of conviction from the players or are the coaching staff clueless as to what tactics to use.
Time to get things right before it is too late.

“McCarthy made the right choice”. I thought our Mick had resigned……but no it was James McCarthy saying he made the right choice in joining Wigan instead of us deadbeats….he has probably been vindicated.
Why is when Wolves either sell a player or miss out on one we always get punished by them…yet if we buy someone & we play against the team who sold them they do nothing & end up smashing us.
Too late for Mark Hughes as it looks like Liverpool are sounding him out to replace Benitez. Anyone fancy the Spanish Waiter???

The performance on Saturday has got to go down as one of the worst for a very long time. It took 80 minutes for us to register a shot on target against opposition who have a terrible away record. massive 6 pointer and no one appeared up for it. The finger must point in only one direction. MM. It is time for him to go before it gets any worse, or can it?
I accept that MM tactics sometimes affect performance but its not the managers fault a player misses an open goal from 10 yrds out aka SEB. OK sure SEB scored in the championship and got us promoted but people need to know their limitations. I am half expecting ‘sporting bet’ will come up with odds each week around how often SEB will fall over or lose the ball when it is played to him! Why does he always always fall over? Wolves will go down with Pompey and Burnley. This team not got enough and more importantly I dont think they have the heart or passion to play for wolves. They are all talk about how good team morale is when in fact there is no desire or drive, a lack lustre team who dont deserve the support they get.

How Fickle the world of Footie Fans, it only seems 5 mins ago since the sound of “Super Mick McCarthy” revurberated around Moulineux and SEB would be our saviour!
It seems now that everybody wants their blood!
I feel SEB was unlucky with with his pr season injury and indeed the supply to any of the forwards being dreadful. Far to often the wingers cut in rather than take on their players and far too often the midfield and forwards overplay it rather than letting loose.
To me our beloved wolves look more like startled rabbitts, and unfortunatly this I believe does come down to MM.
By playing our 2nd team at Man Utd showed a total diresepect to both sets of paying fans, and worse it showed a total lack of confidence in our first team. He seems more interested in other teams strengths and is constantly messing with our selection and playing guys out of position.
I love the fact that as Champions last year our squad was young and largely home grown, I thought we would buy somes seasonned pros, and attack this league……….
Steve grow some balls and do the right thing now!

As I am sure everyone who went to the match can see, Blake is out of form and lacking confidence and should be left out for a while, perhaps used as sub and have a run out from there. Stearman act was foolish and I think the second time I have seen him do this when the ball was running away from the danger zone. Taking Jarvis off took away any chance of crossing the ball into the area. Ward had his toughest opponent and struggled. Mc Carthy must learn from this game, re-introduce Berra and use Mancienne in midfield, Foley now to slot in as full back where I think is a better position for him. Keep hoping for new signings, may have to get my boots polished up ( the only black ones in the team) all is not lost folks.

Gutted just really gutted, I feel so down. Kept believing SEB would come good as he looked for 18 months in the CCC a real class above but it’s obvious he can’t cut and probably never will now, gutted. Big H has been a great signing but at 37 we can’t look to him long term. Kightly never being fit is reminding of big Jol and our last ill fated return to the promised land, I truly believe if fit he would be a good player for us at this level a true out and out winger, but by the time (if ever) match fit it will be too late in the day. Our performance was so bad it beggars belief, I had though Jans fixtures were kind but based on what I saw we look worse than relegation fodder and seem incapable of getting any sort of momentum, Jan is not a great market but it is obvious to all and especially after THAT DROSS that if the club are serious we must invest in at least three quality players and maybe look to cash in SEB! Never thought I would say that, I feel like I’m not far from joining the Mick out brigade, its getting harder to disagree or just brand those guys Morons. Steve Morgan put your hand in your pocket, make some important decisions about the STAFF and Players and save our club!!! Depressed Winslow Wolf dreading a long week!

I refuse to blame the players(even Blake and Stearman)as they have overachieved this season. We only have one premiership player in Doyle so to be 17th is a result in itself.I dont blame Mccarthy either as he is doing his best which unfortunately isnt good enough.A good championship manager but out of his depth in this division.(his record with Sunderland proves it: dont be mislead by his excuses of having no money to spend ,he will be saying the same thing when he gets his P45 at the end of the season} The real blame lies with Morgan and Moxey. All they are interested in is screwing as much money out of the fans without giving anything back.I am sick of all the promises made over the years.
We are going to invest in our academy.Where are the young players coming through.
We are going to redevelop the ground.Nuff said.
We are not going to “do an Albion” and be a yoyo team.
Morgan has done very well out of this.He has inherited a club with no debt and is now receiving the Sky millions. He is a Liverpool fan who is now involved with Redrow again. It is impossible for him to able to devote the time necessary to run a Premiersip club. This means Moxey is running the show.Nothing more than an average accountant, some people on this site are praising him for running a tight ship. With the amount of money Sir Jack,Morgan and Sky have put in anybody with a financial background could do the same.
I have supported the club for over 40 years, but when you see what is happening at Blues,Stoke etc it really does make me wonder whether it is all worth while.A very unhappy season ticket holder

Milijas and Zubar are the required quality as is Mancienne as a full back or holding midfielder. Why was Jarvis and not Milijas on set pieces?! Jarvis didn’t put a decent one in and we seem to score or go very close from every Milijas delivery, very strange decision from MM, bizarre in fact.

Shift-work to paper over a defence from hell is a lot harder at this level.
Shirt-puller Stearman should have been off against Burnley.

To all you negative mindless morons that keep saying SEB should never play again… do you really think we would even be in the Premiership if it wasn’t for his goals last season??!
GET A GRIP! Yes he’s not performing at the moment but he deserves his chance at the highest level. All strikers feed on confidence so why not give him a bit of support instead of slating his every move. I’m sure you were behind him last season when he was smashing the goals in every week.
You all take the time out to write on here and air your views but why dedicate so much time casting negative remarks about a team you supposedly SUPPORT?!

No. He is a Great Chumps footballer and will do wonders for us again once we are relegated – but should we come up end of next season then he needs to be put back on ice and a PROVEN PREM TALENT brought in.
SEB should not start another game for us in this league. He is out of his depth, clearly something Sir Alex could see when he let him go.

KM face reality SEB is not good enough its not about his performance last year its about now. He does not take the opportunities like the weekend or the one say against Birmingham when he sky rocketed the ball over the north bank from 3 ft out. He does not create space, the goal Miljas scored against burnley was because SEB was just standing on 18 yrd line, the guy is not up for it and we need to change the forward line where Doyle can play off someone who (a) can keep the ball when it is passed to him (b) potentially can beat a player or 2 and (c) stand on his bloody feet and not fall over. Simples. I am home and away season ticket supporter so beleive me SEB cannot cut it at thsi level.

agree with winslow wolf that SEB did his bit to get us promoted BUT he is now in a far quicker league and he isnt helping himself by being circa 14 stone and about 5ft 7?

Mobillity and turn of pace is key in this league (with of course good finishing) NOT overweight with a turning circle of a HGV lorry

Lets face the facts Wolves are at best a middle of the road Championship side thanks to Mad Mick and his very poor signings Doyle and Milijas being the only exceptions.
The manner in which Wolves play is indicative of the manager no class, no idea and certainly no passion we struggle week in week out and one goal against us these days is enough to ensure victory for our opponents. The team lacks inventiveness, motivation, leadership and have lost all that’s left of their dwindling confidence thanks to Mick.
One thing is for sure we will get relegated you can bet on that unless some miracle happens like appoint a new managrer because like most fans assumptions MM he is not a Premiership manager and never will be.

Nor that fact we put at negative teams from start against Man U, Man City and to a lesser part Liverpool.
Also having a total backroom clear out wouldnt go a miss, as we lost our best GK coach bobby Mimms, Cris Evans also made a big difference…. im just not a fan of terry connor and Mick’s Tactics and training..

Excuse me, but I thought the Mighty Muppet told us that we had the players to keep us in the Premiership – Job done.
In that case why is he now saying a striker and winger are necessities?
Has anyone seen the whereabouts of his other star buys – Castillo, Zubar, Halford who were also going to keep us in the Premiership?
Then we have a reliance on EBlank Bleak who couldn’t score if the goalkeeper put it on the goal line for him.
This is a similar situation in which Liverpool find themselves now. Money spent on players who don’t perform. In our case its a few million here and there. With Benitez its tens of millions on duds. The result, however is the same.
As previously stated, the Mighty Muppet is taking us the same way as he did with Sunderland.

The problem this club has is the following:
Do you back the manager and give him big funds to spend ? Unlikely.
Do you sack him ? No, why? because its not the moxey way, and Steve Morgan doesn’t give a monkies to be honest.
I believe we will go down, and McCarthy will still be in a job come August.
I believe we’ll spend 3.5 million in January tops, and that will be it.
What should happen is we sack him now. Just look at our home results they are abysmal. The tactics are awful, we have a different back four every week, we have defenders playing in nidfield and he persists with the same two strikers week in week out.
Common sense will tell you that Mick isn’t cut out for the Prem, but commercially, it is far better for the owner to stick with what he has, and go down, then back up again.
Mark my words, that is exactly what will happen
