Wolves have signed Sylvan Ebanks-Blake from Plymouth for £1.5 million.

Blake has joined Wolves for £1.5 million after turning down a deal to stay at Home Park.

The Molineux club triggered a release clause in Blake's contract and have persuaded him to come to Wolves.

Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock said: "We did not want Sylvan to leave, and we would have offered him the best contract that has ever been offered to a Plymouth Argyle player to try to persuade him to stay.

"However, he was so determined to join Wolves that he would not even discuss a new deal with us. For me, that is disappointing."

Ebanks-Blake, aged 21, joined Argyle from Manchester United in 2006 for £300,000.

Sturrock added: "When Sylvan joined us, he and his agent were insistent that the £1.5m trigger price was written into the deal.

"If we hadn't agreed, he wouldn't have signed - it's as simple as that.

"When Wolves indicated they were prepared to meet that £1.5m price, we were bound to allow Sylvan to talk to them and we could not ask Wolves for a bigger fee.

"That is the way of the modern system. Everything favours the player and his agent."
