The Society's Brierley Hill Branch, High St, Brierley Hill has been transformed.

Leaving behind the image of a typical banking hall and counter, customers can now enjoy a vibrant environment designed to meet the needs of today's customers, including a 'pod' which has been installed to allow quick queries to be dealt with without the need to visit the counter.

One noticeable feature of the Branch is the 6-foot- tall statue of a man made of cutlery which has been a popular feature as he has toured other branches.

The sculpture, created by local artist Ed Cartwright, was created from hundreds of pieces of recycled cutlery.

Jeremy Wood, Chief Executive of the Dudley Building Society said: 'We are passionate about the importance of our branch network and see it as an essential part of our business.

"We are proud of our strong foundations that have been a part of the local area for over 150 years but see the importance of continuous investment to remain at the forefront of our sector.

"What we have created is something very different and I would urge anyone to take a look at our Dudley, Gornal and Brierley Hill branches to see just how different we are from every other financial institution."

The move for such positive investment into its branch network is seeing the Black Country Society continue to grow and prosper.

As a mutual building society, profit is injected back into the betterment of the Society's members and not to meet the short term needs of shareholders.

The branch is the third in the six branch network to undergo a full refurbishment.

With a complete new look and feel with open plan counters, exhibition of local artwork and an environment that is truly reflective of the Society's brand.

Dudley Mayor, Councillor Steve Waltho, who undertook a tour of the Brierley Hill Branch on his first engagement as newly appointed Mayor, said: "The new look branch is lovely and the Society should be commended on its investment in the high street.

"It is lovely to see a financial institution that focuses on personal service and the individual needs of each customer."

Mayoress Jayne Waltho, who has been a Dudley Building Society member for some years, commented: "I was born and raised in Brierley Hill so to see some of the old images on the walls in such a modern environment is so refreshing."
