Easter egg bike convoy roars in
Monday 29th March 2010, 11:30AM BST.
More than 3,000 bikers from across the country roared into an RAF base near Wolverhampton to show their support for the Armed Forces.
Bikers, some in fancy dress, including a chicken suit, descended on RAF Cosford as part of an annual Easter Egg run.
Armed with chocolate eggs, bikers of all ages- and even a dog- set off from various points across the country before meeting up in Shrewsbury and travelling en masse to Cosford. Hundreds of people lined the streets and the bridges of the M54 to catch a glimpse of the spectacle.
Funds raised through the event will go to the RAF Association’s Wings Appeal 2010 and its Miles More Minutes campaign. Organisers expect to top £10,000.
Nursery teacher Jean Forrest, aged 59, rode pillion on the back of husband Peter’s Harley Davidson. The mother-of-two, of Wolverhampton Road, Oldbury, said: “It’s been a lovely experience. You feel as though you’re really part of something and it’s great to see all the crowds at the top of the motorway cheering and waving.”
