The Phantom of the Opera rolls into Birmingham

Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera rolls into Birmingham for the start of a 6 week season.

Arriving in 21 articulated lorries it is one of the biggest productions to be staged at the Hippodrome with over 25 tonnes of lighting and scenery suspended from the grid alone.

Express & Star video journalist Nicky Butler was invited to an exclusive behind the scenes look at the staging of this musical during the technical build where she got the chance to see the famous chandelier being put into position.
