Around 70 people turned out to take part in a large-scale hunt for Andrew Green, a 33-year-old farmer, from Yew Tree Farm in Chorley, near Bridgnorth.

The searches took place on Saturday and Sunday, at the farm and in surrounding area, with volunteers covering more than 200 acres through their efforts.

Mr Green was last seen near to the farm at around 8.50pm on June 22.

His car was found abandoned nearby with his phone and work keys inside.

Despite their efforts the searchers failed to uncover any new leads in the hunt and Mr Green's father, Edward, 58, said the family are still hoping for the best.

He said: "We just do not know and that is the worst. We have to keep going for the sake of the rest of the family and the kids and the grandkids.

"We are just hoping he is out there working somewhere on a farm, working for a contractor and someone might know something. We are hoping someone who might know something could see it on Facebook and get in touch."

The search began with the area around Yew Tree Farm on Saturday and moved on to other areas nearby on Sunday, including Sidbury and The Highlands.

Because farmers have been carrying out their harvest Mr Green said a lot of the surrounding areas have already been covered by local farmers.

He thanked the volunteers for turning out to help the efforts to find his son. He said: "It has been tremendous, everyone turning up and coming to look and people baking cakes and making sandwiches to keep everyone going."

"One lady baked 100 cakes and one guy could not walk because of his knees so he went and made a bunch of sandwiches."

Mr Green was last seen wearing a green stripy jumper, beige work trousers, and work boots. He is 6ft tall and of stocky build with dark brown hair.

Anyone with any information about his location can call West Mercia Police on 101.
