PICTURED: Driver injured as car smashes into lamppost

A woman was taken to hospital after a crash in Netherton.

Emergency services were called to Marriott Road after reports of a vehicle hitting a lamppost this morning.

The woman believed to be in her 40s suffered minor injuries and was taken to Russells Hall hospital.

Pictures of the aftermath showed a white Nissan Qashqai suffering damage to its front end.

West Midlands Fire Service spokesman Matthew Smith said: "We were called to the scene around 8.55am. The woman received a precautionary check-up from paramedics and the fire service made the vehicle safe."

One fire crew from Brierley Hill and one from Haden Cross attended.
