PICTURED: Ducks defy one-way car park

A Staffordshire beauty spot had some unexpected visitors this week as a 20-strong group of ducks waddled their way onto a car park blissfully ignorant to the fact they were heading in the wrong direction.

The flock, which can also be referred to as a badelynge, even appeared to have their own token ugly duckling with a dark-coloured member propping up the rear of the almost perfect queue.

One of the ducks stands to the side resembling a drill sergeant appearing to keep the rest in line. The group were snapped at Staffordshire Wildlife Trust's Westport Lake Visitor Centre in Stoke on Monday walking in the opposite direction to a giant white arrow on the road.

It prompted the caption 'Some of our visitors to Westport Lake Visitor Centre still don't understand the one-way system' as the trust tweeted the picture to more than 8,000 followers.

The trust has launched an appeal for wildlife snaps and the 12 best will feature in the charity's 2017 calendar. A spokesman said: "

From bees to birds and gardens, we're looking for the special species and places in our fabulous county."
