This spectacular picture was captured in Wheaton Aston by a Black Country firefighter taking his new drone out for a spin.

Wayne Roe, who is also an RAF reservist, said the £1,200 he spent on the DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone was 'well worth it' after taking the stunning snap.

The 30-year-old from Codsall Wood said he was a former British Waterways worker and chose to fly up over Wheaton Aston knowing the reservoir was there.

He said: "I have only just purchased the drone but I have been into photography for a number of years and I just wanted to extend what I do with photography.

"It was the first proper time I took it out.

"When I saw the picture I thought it was great and it proved to me it was a worthwhile amount of money to spend.

"You usually only get those quality of photographs with a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera but with that you are limited to your own perspective but with a drone you can really maximise that view.

"Everywhere in Wheaton Aston is quite nice but I went there particularly because of the reservoir.

"I was looking to capture some sort of reflection from the water but the atmosphere just took over."

Mr Roe, a firefighter of two years and a RAF reservist for five, said his piloting skills have already come in handy in flying his new piece of kit.

He added: "I fly aircraft anyway so in terms of hand-eye coordination I am not too bad with that sort of thing.

"Drones can be pretty tricky and people have been caught out and crashed them but I haven't had any problems with mine so far."

Wayne has already caught the eye with his photography on social media with more than 14,000 people following his @wayne_official.uk page.
