Around 200 vintage vehicles were on display at the show on Sunday which was celebrating its 10th anniversary. They included racing cars, military vehicles, motorcycles, lorries, a field army ambulance, tractors and even an ice cream van.

Organisers said the day was a great success, with good weather and more than 2,000 visitors flocking through the gates. Vehicles on display ranged from the 1930s to the present day.

Families took part in children's quizzes and wandered among stalls selling everything from herbs to crafts, with music from a brass band.

Youngsters got the chance to go for a spin in a series of mini Land Rover rides and enjoyed free archery lessons

Mark Hartwell, heritage site manager for Stafford Borough Council, which organised the show, said: " It was our biggest show so far and we are very grateful to the support of the public and our sponsors. We are very pleased with the success and popularity of the event."

Sherif Hegazy, one of the judges, said: "The diversity and quality of the exhibited motor vehicles was outstanding. It was very difficult to make a decision on the winners of the various categories. We had to go round twice and go through the shortlist a couple of times to reach a decision. In my opinion, they were all winners."

Organisers are still adding up the total raised at the event but they estimate it will be thousands of pounds, which will go towards the upkeep of the castle.
