Captured by Phil Beckett, he snapped the image at Landymoor Road in Bilston.

The 58-year-old, who won £100 for his picture, said: "I was absolutely stunned when you said I had won this month's Star Witness. I have always been interested in photography, even back in the old film days when I had my own darkroom in the bathroom. With the advent of digital it has completely changed photography and in my opinion made it a lot easier.

"I have snapped these geese a number of times (especially during the winter with snow cover) but I was surprised when I saw them trying to cross the busy Ladymoor Road.

Phil Beckett, 58, from Bilston.

"It had to be that when they made the dangerous trip it was during a recent thunderstorm and torrential rain. Armed with my waterproofs and a plastic bag over my Nikon D200 camera I only waited a few minutes to capture the shot.

"Most of the motorists stopped to let them over to the pool, one or two impatient ones sounded their horn but it didn't deter them."

The Express & Star wants to showcase the best photography in the region via Star Witness.

So, whether you're a complete novice armed with just a smartphone, a traditionalist armed with a Brownie or a pro snapping away on the latest Nikon, this is your chance to get your pictures seen.

As well as bragging rights over all your friends and family, the best picture each month will also be rewarded with £100.
