Chaos as road is flooded
Wednesday 10th March 2010, 11:30AM GMT.
A major water main burst in a road in the Black Country today, causing misery for motorists and residents.
Oldbury Road in Rowley Regis is now likely to be closed for two days while the 12-inch water main is repaired.
Today’s incident caused long tailbacks for drivers who were already battling against rush hour traffic at 8.30am.
Inches of water flooded the street and some surrounding roads were sealed off.
Sandwell Council deputy leader Councillor Mahboob Hussain said: “There has been a major water main burst outside number 184 Oldbury Road.
It is likely that the road will be closed for at least two days.”
