Anticipation

As my final school year approaches I'm having mixed feelings.

For almost fourteen years, August has been filled with pre-school anticipation: new uniform, a shining new pair of shoes (which are always a bit uncomfortable for those first couple of weeks) and a whole load of new stationery, which, lets be honest, you don't really need. However, I'm very aware that this year is the last time I'm doing this. True, if everything goes to plan, this time next year I'll be buying pots and pans rather than pens and pencils, but it still feels bittersweet.

I've loved school for as long as I can remember- particularly seeing my friends, but doing A-levels means I get to do subjects I love and enjoy everyday. At the moment I'm feeling that this school year may simultaneously be my most and least favourite: there's so much to look forward to, including concerts and going out with friends, plus extra responsibilities and more respect. On the other hand, there will be so many 'lasts'- last Christmas concert, last school play, and ultimately, the last day of school. Despite being a little over-emotional at times (admittedly I cry at pretty much everything I find myself watching on Netflix, and yes that does include Legally Blonde!) I'm going to try not to let these 'lasts' get me down until I come to them, and I'm going to do my very best to make the most out of everyday and situation that comes my way- hopefully making this year one to remember.
