When was the last time a piece of literature grabbed your attention?

Published

Perhaps it was recently, with the global success of Donna Tartt's latest epic offering The Goldfinch? Or maybe it's been a while; The Lovely Bones, Harry Potter, or The Da Vinci Code? It could be that you're a fan of the classics, and it's Dickens' Great Expectations, Brontë's Wuthering Heights, or Orwell's 1984, that set your pulse racing.

Are you a lover of old-fashioned book shops, or an avid technological reader carefully clinging onto your Kindle or Smartphone, while being jostled around public transport. Either way it is hard to argue that literature or reading in general has changed in this modern age; we can read our favourite novels wherever we are, or even have people read our own work on apps like Wattpad.

With such technological advancement it's important to remember that literature is just as much about the intricate details, relationships and background information.

With that said: I'm David Handley, a 25-year-old aspiring writer from Wolverhampton, currently working on a creative writing/English degree through the Open University. My favourite book is The Great Gatsby and favourite authors include; Fitzgerald, Will Self, Alex Preston, and Donna Tartt.

I've written content for Sabotage Times, and Culture or Trash in London, as well as Empty Mirror Books in America.

In terms of the blog, ideally I want this to be as interactive as possible; I'd like to get you involved wherever I can. Got any recommendations or even stories of your own? Let me know and I'll try to include them!

Whatever your taste I'll be covering everything here with news, reviews, and pre-release information on a range of books, both old and new.
