Road closed due to Kidderminster bus blaze

A road has now reopened after a bus caught fire in Kidderminster.

Two crews from Wyre Forest Fire Station were called at 9.50 earlier today.

A fire broke out in the engine compartment of a bus on the Worcester Road island in Kidderminster.

No one was injured during the incident and firefighters left the scene at 11.06am.

A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire Service, said: "A fire in the engine compartment of the bus was well alight and extinguished by two firefighters using breathing apparatus, one main jet and two hosereel jets.

"There were no casualties reported and from the log there is no indication that the fire was deliberate."

West Mercia Police were also in attendance at the incident.

A spokeswoman for the force added: "At approximately 9.55am today the Fire Service alerted us that they were responding to a bus fire at the depot.

"We attended to support with road closures and traffic management. The road reopened at 10:30."
