The smash took place on the A41 Black Country New Road in Wednesbury last night.

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a black Jeep Cherokee and a black VW Golf, near to Patent Shaft Roundabout just after 10.30pm.

Two men, aged 21 and 37, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police say their families have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A further three people were seriously injured and remain in hospital this morning.

The road was closed in both directions between Patent Shaft Roundabout and Moxley Junction for several hours to allow investigators to examine the scene. It has since reopened.
