Man cut free after M6 crash in Stafford

A man was cut free from a vehicle after a crash between a lorry and van on the M6.

The accident happened today on the northbound carriageway between J14, Stafford North, and J15, Stoke.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene by West Midlands Ambulance Service at 7.15am.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "One male was released and transported to hospital by land ambulance."

The fire service tweeted that cutting equipment was used to free the man.

Fire crews from Stafford, Eccleshall and Longton attended.

A photograph of the van showed it with a smashed windshield and damage to its front end.
