Work is being carried out to widen Ring Road St Patrick's, between Broad Street and Stafford Street, in the city centre.

It is hoped the extra lane will help relieve traffic congestion in the busy area.

Work was starting today (MON MAY 12) and will be completed at the end of July.

It is hoped the extra lane will help relieve traffic congestion in the busy area which runs behind the bus station.

Wolverhampton City Council spokesman Gurdip Thandi said: "An extra lane will be installed to help relieve traffic congestion in the area.

"Off peak lane closures will be in place while work is being carried out.

"It is anticipated that the work will be completed by the end of July."

Signs have been put up warning motorists of possible delays.

Lane closures could be in place between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm on Mondays to Fridays as part of the work.

It comes after other work to widen parts of Wolverhampton's Ring Road.

Work was being carried out at Ring Road St Mark close to the new £60m Sainsbury's store which is being built in Raglan Street.
