Woman taken to hospital after Cannock collision

A woman was taken to hospital after a collision between a lorry and a car on a busy road in Staffordshire today.

moreThe crash caused long queues along the A5 Watling Street between Churchbridge and Turf Island in Cannock, It happened at around 6.40am – just before the rush-hour.

The road was blocked both ways for around one hour – affecting the M6 Toll junction seven and cleared by 7.45am.

The woman was taken to Stafford Hospital to be checked over by doctors as a precaution.

Staffordshire Police spokesman Faye Casey said: "We received a call to just after 6.40am this morning to reports of a road traffic collision towards Brownhills close to the Turf Island.

"The collision was between a lorry and a blue Ford Focus.

"One female was taken to Stafford Hospital as a precaution and the road was cleared by 7.45am."
