Speed limits will be reduced on a string of streets after more than 60 people were injured within a year, under new plans revealed today.

Areas in Aldridge, Rushall, Streetly and Willenhall have been earmarked by highways chiefs as part of the £25,000 scheme.

In the last year one pedestrian was killed and 62 people including drivers and cyclists were injured around routes in Walsall. It is part of a wider campaign to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

The 20mph zones are planned the Summer Hayes estate and around the Sandringham Avenue area in Willenhall.

Also included in the proposals are the Brookhouse estate around Greaves Avenue, Park Hall, in Pheasey surrounding Wimperis Way and Barns Lane, Rushall.

A consultation will run until next month.
