M54 closed after two separate crashes
A pair of separate two-car crashes temporarily closed part of the M54 motorway this morning during rush hour, causing delays for drivers.
Cars collided between junction 3 for Albrighton and junction two for Wolverhampton on the eastbound carriageway, before another collision around 20 minutes later on the opposite side of the carriageway, on the same stretch of motorway.
Passers-by said traffic used the hard shoulder to pass the scene of the crash on the eastbound carriageway at about 8am.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene shortly after 8am but no injuries were reported the initial crash.
The service was also called back to the same stretch of motorway on the westbound carriageway at about 8.20am, to treat another motorist suffering shoulder pain, who did not need to go to hospital.
All lanes had reopened by 9am.
