'I'll cut price £1k each week until flat sells' - check out this bargain deal

People selling houses normally hold out for the best price they can get – but one home seller in the Black Country has taken an unusual approach to selling his two-bed retirement apartment.

John Parker has vowed to reduce the price of the property in Wombrook Court, Wombourne by £1,000 – until it is sold.

If he keeps to his promise and it remains on the market in the longer term, that would mean by early 2020 it could be up for grabs for free.

Mr Parker said his unique sales tactic is a result of his desire to sell the property as quickly as he possibly can.

Estate agents DB Roberts said the home is such good value it is like getting two properties 'for the price of one'.

Mr Parker said: "It is already very competitively priced at £145,000 but if it means I have to sell at well below market value then I am willing to accept that.

"I have come close to selling the property on a number of occasions, but close isn't really good enough."

Mr Parker said he will continue to reduce the price by £1,000 per week until the property is sold.

However, he suggested it is already 'very well priced' – so hopes it won't be too long before someone snaps it up.

The estate agent said in an advert that the apartment is 'even better value compared to the one bedroom units, sales of which over the past 18 months have ranged from £150,000 to £174,000' .

The advert added that this means for £145,000 whoever buys Mr Parker's home will effectively be getting themselves two bedrooms for the price of one.

The advert states: "Wombrook Court is a retirement complex for occupants of age 60 and over set in communal gardens with car parking.

"It offers a residents' lounge and an onsite development manager as well as an emergency call system.

"The property is in a secluded spot away from the road and has good sized rooms to include the two bedrooms, a living room with Juliette balcony, a bathroom and kitchen.

"The development is in a convenient location...it is just a short walk to all local amenities."

The complex where the flat is situated is described as a 'delightful complex' designed for people aged 60 and over.

It also has on site services, gardens and car parking.
