Dudley North MP Ian Austin arranged the meeting yesterday after several public parks were used by travellers during the summer.

Mr Austin said: "Several parks and community facilities in residential areas in Dudley were used by travellers last summer.

"It's my job to stand up for people in Dudley and I don't see why they should be unable to use parks and their community facilities be spoilt so I met with the council and police.

"I want assurances that they will do everything possible to prevent these camps in future and move them on as quickly as possible if they do appear."
