Conference diary: We must eliminate youth unemployment

The bars and fringe events were buzzing last night for the start of conference, or so I was told by one of my team this morning. It was an early start away from conference for me as I attended the start of Wolverhampton's first business week, writes Conservative MP Paul Uppal.

As we all know, inward investment and promoting Wolverhampton as a place to do business is key to its continuing success.

Paul Uppal, MP for Wolverhampton South West

Wolverhampton is a great place do business and with the growth pledge I am confident that we can continue to attract world leading companies to the city.

Sticking with the economic theme today, George Osborne set out the Conservatives vision for Britain which will secure our future by continuing the successful long term economic plan. I have always championed apprenticeships as a way of helping young people find employment and gain valuable life skills and it is great that the Conservative led government has already created nearly two million apprenticeships. I am encouraged by Osborne's promises in his address today to deliver three million more apprenticeships by the end of the next Parliament. This commitment to eliminate youth unemployment will ensure young people have the opportunity for a better, brighter future.

One of the most positive things that I took away from today is the Conservatives message for Britain. The people of Wolverhampton South West, the West Midlands and Britain have a choice at the next election. Already this week we are showing that we, the Conservatives, have the energy and the ideas to lead Britain. This is the choice Britain needs to make to protect our economic stability and to secure a better future.
