As predicted, turnout seems to have been incredibly low across the region.

It was even lower in Sandwell...

And not much better in Walsall...

We are looking at a very low turnout for the West Midlands PCC by-election. Just to recap what we've confirmed so far:

Birmingham is 10.26% Dudley is 11.4% Sandwell is 9.8% and Walsall is 10.72%

The counters in Birmingham are assembled and ready to go at 9.30am

Counting is underway now in Birmingham and across the rest of the West Midlands.

Anyone hoping for a quick result will be disappointed.

Under supplementary vote, if a candidate doesn't get 50 per cent there's a second round of counting. And that won't be until this afternoon.
