Sean Williams, from Bushbury, was hit by a car in Lakefield Road on Thursday and later died in hospital.

Now friends of his family have rallied together and organised the match to be held at the home of Wednesfield FC, in Amos Lane, tomorrow (WED).

Proceeds from the match will be given to Sean's family.

Hayley Bullock, who has organised the event alongside other family friends, said: "As a community we just thought why not make some money for Sean's family because this is a really hard time for them.

"His family are very loving. They are a really nice family. Sean's death has touched a lot of people's hearts.

"That he should have passed away so young is really heartbreaking.

"As a community you just want to do the best you can to help."

The 11-a-side charity match will kick-off at 6pm and see Bushbury EMB Rovers face another local side, Belgrade FC.

Entry will cost £1 with all proceeds to be given to Sean's family.

Police at the scene of the crash

This week his parents, Elaine and Andrew, released a heartfelt tribute to their 'amazing, loving little boy', saying: "To all family and friends, thank you for your support.

"This is the picture we would like you all to remember of our baby boy. Anyone who knew Sean would know he was an amazing, intelligent, polite, loving little boy.

"He will be truly missed by us, his mom, dad and family and friends."

Meanwhile police are seeking a potentially important witness who was driving a car waiting at the traffic lights at the time of the accident around 2pm.

Sgt Alan Wood, from the West Midlands Police Collision Investigation Unit, said: "It was a small, light-coloured vehicle stationary at the traffic light junction, in the right filter lane heading from Lakefield Road turning right into March End Road.

"We believe they could be key witnesses but so far we have not been able to trace the occupants.

"I am appealing to them to get in touch as they could have information that would greatly assist our investigation."

The driver of the car involved was taken to hospital and treated for shock. He is continuing to assist police.

Anyone with information about the accident, who has not yet spoken to police, should call the force on 101.
