Jodie Palmer, aged 23, has never been shopping or taken her two children to nursery having suffered with agoraphobia since the age of three.

The complex condition is a fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult or that help would not be available if things go wrong. She has been able to leave the house from time to time, but not without being gripped by a crippling anxiety.

Jodie had to be home schooled and only met her partner, Ashley Snape, 22, when he came to her home with a mutual friend.

But with the help of a hypnotist she has been able to leave her Wolverhampton home without feeling anxious for the first time in 20 years.

She said: "Stepping outdoors for the first time without feeling overwhelmed with anxiety was amazing, it was as though a weight that I had carried all my life had been lifted.

"From the age of three I remember feeling panicked and never wanting to leave my parents side, the only thing I can think of that triggered it was having double pneumonia at the age of three.

"I was having up to three panic attacks per day and constantly needed to by babysat as I couldn't stay at home alone.

"I needed to be close to a toilet at all time as the attacks would cause me to throw up continuously until they had ended.

"It started at an early age and I ended up being home schooled as I couldn't face leaving the house, even at the age of three I was anxious."

Jodie's condition has meant she has been unable to enter public places and until meeting her hypnotist had not even driven a car since passing her tests in 2011. Instead she would spend her days at home worrying.

She was also taking a daily cocktail of anxiety medication to try and manage the condition.

Jodie gave birth to her two children - Petal, three, and Oakley, two - in hospital and believes the pain helped mask her fear.

On her family life, she said: "I managed to meet my partner, Ashley, through a mutual friend but he had to come to my home as I couldn't leave due to my agoraphobia.

"We've never had a proper date and although we have two children, I cannot ever take them anywhere.

"I was able to have them both in hospital but they were very quick births and due to the pain, I think my mind temporarily forgot about the anxiety of being outdoors."

Desperate to get her life back on track, Jodie contacted Robert Hisee, who goes by the alias The Hypnotist Man, and the effects have been remarkable.

It took just one hour with Robert before she was able to leave the house for the first time in two decades without feeling anxious.

Jodie said her anxiety had vanished and she now wants to share her story to help others in the same situation.

She added: "After meeting Robert and talking to him for just an hour, I was able to walk down the road and I even managed to drive a car for the first time without shaking and having a panic attack.

"I couldn't believe it but my anxiety and worries about leaving my house had disappeared in an instant.

"It felt so easy to step outdoors and go for a walk, I'm now working towards taking my own kids to school.

"It sounds strange but other than enjoying time with my kids, one of the things I'm most looking forward to is clothes shopping in Primark."

Mr Hisee said he used mind therapy techniques to find the root cause of Jodie's problems and from that he was able to cure her anxiety.

He hopes that within 30 days she will be able to combat the condition for good.

He said: "I do not treat anxiety, as anxiety is the effect of the problem.

"What I do is discover the cause of the problem using unconscious mind techniques, from there I remove the bad feeling and existing beliefs attached to the cause of the problem.

"Removing these feelings then enables the client to enter the learning state of mind, the anxiety is no longer present and in replacement, feelings of anticipation and curiosity are left.

"With this new mind set, the client is left happier and healthier, and over time this will become even more evident."
