The picture of the man urinating at the playground off Cot Lane, in Dudley, has been shared on Twitter by outraged mother-of-two Joanna Noble.

Tweeting the shocking image, Mrs Noble said: "So are @WMPolice & @dudleymbc @DudleyPlus Going to do something about this? This is a children's playground."

Mrs Noble believes the incident may be related to the travellers who have recently camped up at Cot Lane park.

She added: "Our local, much-loved, well-used park in Kingswinford is currently occupied by a large number of travellers. Football games and training have been cancelled and my friends were verbally abused by one of the drivers of a blue van when he pulled up on Friday in front of their children whilst they played on what's left of the play area.

"Since then mounds have litter are scattered across the park, they are urinating on the children's play area and dumping their rubbish in the bushes at the back. Dogs are tied up to the fences at the back and their mess left for someone else to clean up.

"A meeting was held last night in the pub to discuss creating a 'Friends of Cot Lane park' group so we can work towards restoring it after they have left."

Mrs Noble's angry tweets have also been picked up by the MP for Dudley South, Mike Wood, who replied: "Thanks. I am meeting with the council and the police to talk about the action they can take."

Mr Wood said: "It is sickening. The local community shouldn't have to put up with waking up and seeing this kind of behaviour."

The MP expressed his frustration at the ongoing problem of illegal campsites in the area. "I am disappointed that the police are reluctant to use their Section 61 powers. These powers are instant, but instead the travellers know that without a Section 61 they have seven to 10 days at each site, and then they can just move 500 yards down the road and stay there for another seven to 10 days. "

Dudley Council confirmed it is in the process of evicting the group from the park, although they have to go through court in order to do so. Councillor Gaye Partridge, cabinet member for housing, said: "We will speak to our legal officers to produce the necessary paperwork to move them on."

A police spokesman said the incident could be a public order offence, but officers would need to identify the man before pursuing any prosecution.

Superintendent Phil Dolby said: "

We would encouragethe community to contact us about any concerns they have about crime or anti-social behaviour."
