Major traffic delays on M5 after Birchley Island traffic lights failure

Drivers are facing major delays today after a traffic light failure on one of the Black Country's busiest roundabouts.

The lights went down at the Birchley Island in Oldbury, leading to major tailbacks.

It is causing major problems on the M5, with traffic trying to exit the motorway at Junction 2 for Oldbury backing up on the hard shoulder.

Delays of around 40 minutes have been reported.

Highways engineers from Sandwell Council reported at the lights were repaired by around 11am.
