The tour has been revealed by Wolverhampton council ahead of work starting at the station as part of a £120 million Interchange project that will also see a Metro line extension added.

The opportunity to view the tour comes during the 'Enjoy Wolverhampton' ten-day programme, which highlights the city's gems and provides a wealth of free or purse-friendly activities and offers.

The video will be screened at the railway station on Thursday and is also available to view on YouTube channel 'Wolverhampton Today'.

For years, people have been awaiting the start of the Wolverhampton Interchange - a project to combine rail, tram and bus services.

Members of the Interchange Partnership will be at the railway station on the same days handing out Q&A leaflets about the project.

To help keep passengers informed of developments around the railway station the Twitter feed @WVInterchange has also gone live online.

Councillor Peter Bilson, deputy leader and cabinet member for city assets, said: "The fly through video really whets the appetite, giving everyone a real feel for the exciting plans we have to transform the railway station.

"Through the Enjoy Wolverhampton July programme we are currently showcasing what the city has to offer and it is important we have a station that gives visitors the best first impression of Wolverhampton."

The Interchange Partnership has submitted plans to demolish the existing station and replace it with the new one.

Work is due to begin on the new railway station next year following the extension and refurbishment of the railway station multi-storey car park, which is expected to be completed by Christmas.

The new railway station will also benefit from an enhanced Birmingham New Street-style ticket office, larger passenger concourse, ample ticket barriers to ease flow onto and off platforms, much improved retail and café facilities, increased taxi rank provision and a more efficient passenger drop off/pick up arrangement.

Steve Parry, managing director of Neptune Developments, added: "The graphic design team have done a fantastic job in producing a fly through that really showcases what the new railway station will offer."

Dave Whitehouse, Virgin Trains interchange project manager for Wolverhampton, said: "The fly through really brings the new-look station alive and we hope it provides a real sense of excitement for passengers.

"I would also urge passengers to stay in touch with developments at the station via the Interchange Partnership Twitter feed @WVInterchange."
